Socks: Every little helps!

Socrates - 01 Feb 2005 17:00 - 145 of 24230

So true, Priscilla.

Evening all.

jeffmack - 01 Feb 2005 17:16 - 146 of 24230

Fundy
You just know it was going to happen....

I ordered and paid for the Tickets for Thursday and I contacted a guy who had tickets for Friday at 80 each, but had not bought them yet.

At 3:30 the girlfriend of the guy who had the tickets called him and said "by the way, I found your tickets last night"

They are not talking.

Anyone want to buy a ticket to Cheltenham on Paddys day...

Priscilla - 01 Feb 2005 17:32 - 147 of 24230

Now I'm sure I'm not the only female who laughed when I read your post, jeff! That girlfriend got revenge for every rotten thing her bloke had ever done to her in one hit.... Like the saying goes.....'Revenge is a dish best served, cold!' Maximum embarrassment, stress and discomfort. Brilliant!!!

Edit: The r-e-a-l-l-y clever part is that, having found the tickets, she STILL ends up being a heroine!

Fundamentalist - 01 Feb 2005 17:45 - 148 of 24230

Jeffie

Happened to me a few years back with rugby tickets !!!!

you may have probs shifting the thursday tickets until approx 2 weeks before the meet - its unlikely to be a sell out until then.

Priscilla - 01 Feb 2005 19:02 - 149 of 24230

Superseded. Sorry!

Socrates - 01 Feb 2005 19:14 - 150 of 24230

Tomorrow is Groundhog Day, no not Golddog Day. Can I have a cup of tea and a seadog biscuit please.

Priscilla - 01 Feb 2005 19:45 - 151 of 24230

Sorry, Socks. I've hunted for the seadog biscuits but could only find boudoir biscuits and they were marked ' Trifle with these at your peril!' So you will have to have some sherry trifle to go with them, I expect. Will a large bowl of trifle and boudoir biscuits be OK?

Bit late for tea .....how about a glass of Moscato d'Asti?

snoball - 01 Feb 2005 20:28 - 152 of 24230

I'd really like a fruity french tart if there are any left, Priscilla.

Spaceman - 01 Feb 2005 20:34 - 153 of 24230

snoball, french tarts? where ???

little willie - 01 Feb 2005 20:35 - 154 of 24230

Steady on Snowy, there's a queue for one of those;
you're at the back and I'm at the front!!

snoball - 01 Feb 2005 20:37 - 155 of 24230

They'll have a good laugh at your costume little willy.
Had you realised you're dripping Brylcreem on the floor?

Spaceman - 01 Feb 2005 20:52 - 156 of 24230

Some of you may know that I am interested in aviation (I have many anoraks!), on the next week or two there should be an attempt to fly round the world non stop in a jet powered aircraft. The plane will be flown by Steve Fossett and it was designed by the aviation genius Burt Rutan. This bid is being sponsored by Virgin and Richard Branson is the reserve pilot although I am pretty sure he wont fly the plane even if Fossett cant.

Rutan's company Scaled Composites is at the forefront of aviation and for a small company it has done some fantastic things, including designing the Voyager aircraft that was the first (prop driven) plane to fly non stop round the world, he also designed the Spaceship one rocket plane system which recently won the X-Prize for being the first private manned spacecraft to fly into space.

These things may not seem to relevant to our daily lives but I believe they show us the way ahead and will one day help make all our lives better. Anyway whether they do or not the Global Flyer program will be fascinating.

here is a link showing what the aircraft looks like :-
