Welcome to MoneyAM

Bullshare - 22 Jan 2003 20:35

Welcome to MoneyAM.

Today sees the launch of MoneyAM, a bright new financial website for the smart investor. Our aim is quite simple: we aim to become the UK's leading web-based supplier of shares related content and data.

Streaming real time share prices, up to the minute portfolios, live city news, email alerts, bulletin boards, company fundamentals plus expert analysis supplied by the same award-winning team of journalists, analysts and researchers that produce Shares Magazine every week. These are just some of the great features that MoneyAM provides free to anyone who registers on the site.

Our premium paid for services are compelling and competitively priced and a must for the serious investor/trader. Unlimited level 1, FTSE indices, alerts, Premium market scan tools and the Traders Room (Bulletin Board) are just some of the extras on offer. Level 2 services will be coming to MoneyAM very soon!!!

We hope you enjoy using the site.

Regards

Mike Boydell
Managing Director

www.lemonfool.com seems worth a look BB.

HARRYCAT - 31 Jan 2019 17:23 - 140 of 294

Tricky to find a site which has both a Stockwatch facility and a busy bulletin board.

Stan - 31 Jan 2019 23:44 - 141 of 294

Yes that’s the problem one or the other so far.

sponge - 01 Feb 2019 16:35 - 142 of 294

can anyone recommed LVL2 alternatives (one that actually works and is reasonbly priced)?

Fred1new - 01 Feb 2019 17:20 - 143 of 294

Have a look at https://www.sharescope.co.uk/

Have a look at sister program sharepad.

Various levels and reasonable price.

I usually use end of the day and 15mins delay.

It seems to have lost its BB. but staff are very helpful and Graphics VG.

-=-=-

But I do/did like MM.

Stan - 01 Feb 2019 17:36 - 144 of 294

Thanks Fred and I'm still considering that offer thank you.

sponge - 04 Feb 2019 06:17 - 145 of 294

it's a little expensive- you have to subscribe to a package and then add the level2 ,so it could end up costing £50+ per month.

Was looking for something like what we have here

Stan - 04 Feb 2019 10:04 - 146 of 294

That probably sums up a lot of people’s feelings sponge.

cynic - 04 Feb 2019 10:47 - 147 of 294

i've said it before but i'll say it again

much of advfn is free including access to their charts
they're not quite as user-friendly as those here which is a shame, and indeed i'll have to learn how to post them

a lot of the BB's there are just stupid and/or abusive, so as you all know, i stick to just the one (FAR9)
the sponsor has been asked if he could set up another for general chit-chat, but have been far too busy to follow that up

skinny - 04 Feb 2019 10:51 - 148 of 294

If people just want to have a chat with other MAM posters, I can easily set up a thread on advfn?

robertalexander - 04 Feb 2019 11:08 - 149 of 294

How hard/expensive /time consuming would it be to migrate the mam stockwatch element across to shares? With this and possibly the bbs then mam users may go to shares. Without this mam members seem to be walking. I appreciate I am one of the freeloaders but might be persuaded to part with my money if the mam experience moved too.

cynic - 04 Feb 2019 11:15 - 150 of 294

hi skinny ..... the only problem is keeping the trolls and abusers at bay, though the filter button can do much

skinny - 04 Feb 2019 11:18 - 151 of 294

I haven't started a thread there for about 15 years, but I think the thread creator can block posters.

cynic - 04 Feb 2019 11:20 - 152 of 294

i think so too, but that might be rather time consuming

how would you class stan and fred?

Thanks Alf, I have also been using ADVFN for about 15 years and know what your saying about some idiot posters over there but nevertheless less the vast majority are very good nowadays I find. I'll have a look at your FAR9 thread.

I think some are missing the point here.

Shares is in the business of making money from £10's from every trade, a fee on funds and a turn on interest on cash held.

They are not in the business of investment advice, bulletin boards. The only reason to have a bulletin board is if the traffic it produces (client reach) outweighs the cost of keeping it going and more importantly monitoring it. There's a legal obligation to monitor the content (see pressure now falling on Facebook etc.) and I see this alone as enough to put Shares off from running a BB.

HL and the rest of the retail brokers don't provide a BB, so it seems reasonable there's no business case to support it. I suggest the only reason we have MAM now is thanks to Mike and his role at Shares (which I suggest in the early days worked for Shares as it gave them a user base to advertise their platform to). I don't know this but I suspect Mike has used his influence to keep MAM going and now he's left business priorities change. The advertising revenue isn't enough to support it, which might have something to do with MIFID II and all that advertising which tells us only 20% of retail punters make a profit. IG share price had fallen off a cliff last time I looked.

Sadly I'll be off to ADVFN. I wish there was a better alternative but there isn't. Everyone is just going to have to get used to paying more for stuff because if the advertising revenue from isn't there any longer due to MIFID II, what else are suppliers supposed to do?

Oi watch it sunshine...and by the way it's Stan and Fred if you don't mind 🧐😀

The issue with ADVFN is that although the owner can moderate the thread, this takes the moderator time and effort and even if they do moderate or ban users, people can just create another profile in less than a minute.

I suspect the guilds feature using ADVFN's PlusOne Crypto gets round this but I'm not 100% sure.

I don't think the trolls would bother us much anyway. They are more concerned with pumping and dumping shares.

I own one thread on ADVFN. I've never had any trolls or had to learn how to moderate it. Mind you the share price only ever goes up (NMCN) so that might be helping.
