Considering the carnage today thought SOLA held up pretty well under the circumstances

Now that the trading day is over Ill bring that small matter of debt back up again.
At the end of the last financial year to 31/Dec/2006 Solas Debt to Equity ratio (Gearing) stood at the high level of 20.1% .
Then checking the first quarters figure I have found it to be escalating to a shocking 47.5%, and remember this does not include the 105,449 million* of convertible bond payables.
The servicing of the debt obviously effecting the cash flow of the company, and little wonder its been a negative figure on cash flow operations for the last 4 I/4trs.
This company in my opinion is being proped up by debt, it remains to be seen if the management can deliver.
* figures in dollars.

"help" was merely because i have been having inordinate trouble posting here today ..... have taken plenty off the table in recent weeks, though i cannot imagine that tomorrow is going to be very joyful (except my SOLA short - sorry guys!)
btw, have also gone long Cable at 20489 on the basis that $ could well weaken again to 20700 or thereabouts

Just had a look at the chart, SP found support at 491 from the long term uptrend. Dunno if it will hold though.

PTH after tonights Dow ending, I can see 491p being passed easily on the way down and it wont be the only stock heading south.
Problem is sola is a high beta stock with a debt mountain so its going to be hit harder than most.

GF - so far you are wrong with sp only marked down 5.5p albeit with quite a wide spread ...... i too would have expected SOLA to be harder hit, but this has not (yet) proved to be the case

though the market shows 477/490, there are no buyers ..... all except me to close out at 480, which was quickly done ...... no need to be greedy and 50p profit will do very nicely

Cynic, I think quite a few of us have been proved wrong on SPs this morning.
The market appears to be a lot more resilient than a lot thought.
That said this stock for fundamental reasons is in danger of SP collapse. Pi liquidity is at stretching point, liquidity and credit dont go arm in arm in fact theres an inverse relationship between the two.
Theres still a long way to go today.

Had this e-mailed to me from my man on advfn.....
-----
re to sola reply from the CEO to board poster -------
Charles did respond, this is what he said :-
"As a result of IPO and potential conversion of CB into shares, the company
won't have much authorized share capital left, which will constraint the
company from raising additional funds (either via an offering in tandem with
an alternative listing or an AIM follow-on) to fund our expansion plan and
share options plan contemplated to key management staff (we don't have a
share incentive plan up to now)." ENDS.
A sure sign that that sola will be issuing further shares and a resultant dilution for Pis.

If I were one of the puffers after reading that last e-mail and also the news out this monday from Chareles the CEO would institutions be willing to take the risk of shelling out funds for further expansion given the state of credit markets worldwide and the recent market weakness.
Thats got to be a big IF.

Sellers coming back into the market.
The lunchtime crowd will be switching on in the next 5 mins as per norm I expect it to drop over the next hour or so.
If it hits 470p it could take out a valuable support marker.
Longs get your rubber kecks ready.
