Remember to bring jacket and tie for the evening. If wearing tailored shorts, white socks must be worn.

Also no headbutting, gouging or biting and may the best man (me!) win.

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow. I will be at the clubhouse by about 0815, so suggest everyone else gets there not long after so we can have a chat over a cup of coffee. Eric, will find out today if any food will be available on arrival.

EWRobson - 04 May 2005 15:03 - 144 of 440

OK, lets get back to the fundamentals! High handicappers rarely play medals so their handicaps are adjudged on stableford competitions. Therefore their handicap is a fair measure of ability. When a medal is played at our club, as this morning, scores soar - I was four over par and will probably be around 6th out of 30 or 40. All stablefords are thus played off full handicap. Well, lets have a compromise and call it 7/8ths!

Eric

markusantonius - 04 May 2005 19:18 - 145 of 440

It is not very often that I disagree with you, Eric, but what's this 7/8ths (87.5%) rubbish all about? Talk about sitting on the fence! Mind you, after today's Stab at my Club, I think it should be 8/7ths (that's 114%) handicap!

EWRobson - 04 May 2005 21:14 - 146 of 440

We high handicappers are no good at medals and should leave them alone. Started off 6, 7 against pars of 3 and 4, including 3 penalty shots. Got back to one over after 12, then out of bounds and a 4-over par 8. Think I did well to end at 4-over. If not 7/8ths I'm voting for full handicap. Hopefully, there are more high handicappers than low and we can outvote you out-performers.

Eric

Pth, handicap 21.1

Winning prizes isn't important as long as I can pick up some points in good company.
The more points I get, the better i'll enjoy it though!
Just back from the Algarve. Weather was perfect, and nearly every par 3 was made for my trusty 5 wood!

Pete, unfortunately as expected, my work commitments are going to clash, it doesn't help that at the end of that week I'm off on hols. Sorry but I have to withdraw on this occasion. Andy

markusantonius - 13 May 2005 16:14 - 157 of 440

I can now vouch that PTH should play off 50% handicap (9) in the forthcoming Event after seeing first hand his eagle putt on the 17th. Hole from a "pin high" position. What an absolute el Bandito with pars from all angles and the odd birdie thrown in, as well!

How many 18 handicappers do you know who can drive the ball 260+ yards on a regular basis? Answer: very few. A word in the ear of the Handicap Chairman (preferably before mid June!) would be appropriate, I think!

ptholden - 13 May 2005 16:32 - 158 of 440

Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!

paul1812 - 13 May 2005 17:26 - 159 of 440

You sure PTh wasn't playing off the reds!! it's only 372yrds for the girls and 497 for the men.
