Galleon Holdings (GON)

banjomick - 15 Jun 2004 08:48

INTELLIGENT INVESTING WITH BANJO,well sort of! (Ed-hmmmm-lol)

Galleon Holdings plc has three key divisions:Galleon Entertainment for entertainment type IP,Croco Worldwide for product IP,Phoenix for interactive TV services for broadcasters in China/South East Asia which includes Robot Information Technology (Lushy Assets ('Yunbo')) who are a wireless interactive platform service provider in China who will work alongside Phoenix to enable GON to hold on to a greater part of the generated revenue and so increase the profit margin......think that's the plan! :-)

This makes Galleon Holdings a 'One Stop Shop' to develop and complete new and existing IP's.

and yes still relating to the Interims:

"Our network and operational expertise has allowed us to develop relationships with other media companies looking to gain traction in China. During this period we agreed a deal with RDF Media to co-produce a select number of their properties and represent its shows in the region."

Prior to this and within the last AGM on 2 April 2008

"Partnership with RDF Media

Having validated the pipeline and demonstrated the flexibility of our business
model we have sought access to a library of entertainment content and production
expertise that we can exploit within China and SEA. To this end we are delighted
to announce that Galleon has entered into an agreement to work with RDF Media to
co-produce a select number of shows with leading broadcasters in China
leveraging the best of RDF creative content and Galleon's business model and
expertise in executing these shows in the territory."

There has been no real news relating to RDF since the first announcement above.GON have therefore not stated a partnership has failed to materialise for what ever reason so is news on the cards?

banjomick - 12 Oct 2008 22:48 - 1404 of 1609

There are so many successful avenues to GON so it's very difficult to know where to start sometimes, which is a great position to be in!

I think this will do for tonight, taken from the trading statement 07 October 2008:

Stephen Green, CEO of Galleon Holdings, said:

'The Company is delighted to report that trading for the year to 30 September is at least in line with expectations. We have a number of hit shows under our belt and have demonstrated that we have a robust platform and infrastructure in China and South East Asia. We are heading to MIPCOM, an international audiovisual content trade show next week with an attractive slate and are well-positioned to take advantage of opportunities this will present. We remain confident of the Group's outlook for the coming year.'

Date: 13 October 2008

On behalf of: Galleon Holdings plc ('Galleon', 'the Company' or 'the Group')

Embargoed until: 0700hrs

Galleon Holdings PLC

First Earn-Out Payment - Yunbo

Galleon Holdings plc (AIM: GON), the AIM listed entertainment media company developing and producing multi-platform properties with a focus on emerging markets, is pleased to announce that following its acquisition of Changsha High and New Technology Industrial Development Zone Yunbo Information Technology Co. Ltd ('Yunbo'), a leading mobile services provider in China, the company has exceeded its EBITDA performance target for the first six months, as detailed under the terms of the acquisition agreement dated 20 February 2008.

Galleon acquired Yunbo to strengthen the Group's media infrastructure in emerging markets and to provide complete multi-platform media solutions to Chinese broadcasters. Since the acquisition, Yunbo has grown its average monthly revenue by approximately 60% and is now the tenth largest mobile services provider in China. This growth has been driven by a diversified product offering and Galleon's roll-out of its entertainment properties, including interactive TV services, which continues with a number of negotiations with broadcasters underway. Through this infrastructure Galleon's Chinese operations are able to deliver a pipeline for 3rd party or internally developed interactive TV content, with total control over delivery to the consumer, data capture and the billing process.

As a result of Yunbo exceeding the agreed performance targets, the first element of deferred consideration is due for payment to the vendors. This consideration is to be satisfied by the issuance and allotment of 10,180,775 Galleon ordinary shares with a nominal value of 1p per share.

The Company has applied for these shares to be admitted to trading on AIM and admission is expected to occur at 8 am on the 16 October 2008.

A further performance related payment will be due in 2009, based on Yunbo's EBITDA performance target for the 12 months to 31 December 2008.

Stephen Green, CEO of Galleon Holdings, said:

'Yunbo has been an excellent addition to the Galleon group. The growth that we are seeing in Yunbo's revenues is evidence that our strategy of using our media entertainment properties to drive traffic through mobile platforms is working. We expect this to continue as we develop our operations within our China media division, Phoenix.'

banjomick - 13 Oct 2008 08:42 - 1406 of 1609

All very good news for the future growth of GON,imo.

"Since the acquisition, Yunbo has grown its average monthly revenue by approximately 60% and is now the tenth largest mobile services provider in China."

'The Limit' is now due early 2009 as opposed to "later this year" which although slightly disappointing is part and parcel of programming for any company in this sector.

banjomick - 13 Oct 2008 08:56 - 1407 of 1609

Hmmmm,I wonder what the issue price for these shares were? I can't see it being at Fridays close but I could be wrong.

banjomick - 13 Oct 2008 09:18 - 1408 of 1609

MIPCOM started today and what's the betting it will bring on some news this/next week?

banjomick - 13 Oct 2008 12:50 - 1409 of 1609

Then if we drift across the pond:

"The US rights have recently been licensed to Dragonfruit Studios, an original content studio focused on multi-platform entertainment properties, which plans to launch the show in the US during 2009. In conjunction with the global sports sponsor of Super Soccer Star, Chelsea Football Club, Galleon is conducting negotiations in several other territories in South East Asia, Europe, Russia and the Middle East, building a global entertainment brand."

"Apollo's Pad, an interactive entertainment property aimed at a young male audience, offers online and mobile users a unique, broadcast-quality comedy entertainment show. Over 100 episodes, set in the fictional Apollo's Pad nightclub, have been produced to date. The music catalogue, which forms an integral part of the offering, is supplied by Sony BMG and EMI. The US and certain global rights to Apollo's Pad were recently licensed to Dragonfruit Studios, which will support a broader global roll-out and increased brand sponsorship.

Following the first distribution agreement in the US for the Skunk fu! toyline with Zizzle Toys in August this year, the toys are due to go on sale in the UK and US in spring 2009 in retail outlets including Tesco and Target. The Skunk fu! series is currently broadcast in the US on The Cartoon Network as many as three times per day during the week and on the weekends it is shown on the Kids WB Network and has been running on BBC1, CBBC and S4C in the UK since July 2007. The toyline has been created by Galleon's Croco Worldwide division and is another demonstration of how Galleon is able to exploit its' entertainment properties across multiple platforms."

and then back to China RE:Co-production agreement for Super Soccer Star in Malaysia:

"This agreement follows the success of the first series of Super Soccer Star, broadcast on Guangdong TV Sports Channel in China. Super Soccer Star is an interactive family orientated talent show to find the next teen football star. The winner is granted a place to train at Chelsea's Football Academy. The show was one of the top five overall shows during its first run on Guangdong TV Sports Channel and a recent episode outperformed the channel's average market share by 94%."

Galleon's Yunbo exceeds EBITDA target
13/10/2008

Aim listed entertainment firm Galleon said its recently bought Yunbo Information Technology exceeded its EBITDA performance target for the first six months.

The emerging market focused company said Yunbo has grown its average monthly revenue by around 60% and is now China's tenth largest mobile services provider.

"This growth has been driven by a diversified product offering and Galleon's roll-out of its entertainment properties, including interactive TV services, which continues with a number of negotiations with broadcasters underway," it said.

As a result of Yunbo exceeding the agreed performance targets, the first element of deferred consideration is due for payment to vendors, said Galleon, which is to be satisfied by the issue and allotment of around 10.18m Galleon shares at 1p per share.

Last week Galleon said overall the group had made good progress during the year, with full year results expected to be at least in line with market expectations.

This is probably just the normal run of the mill speak but:

banjomick - 15 Oct 2008 22:41 - 1419 of 1609

From the last Interims dated 27 June 2008:

"We have also signed a development deal for another popular show, Mysti, with Planet Nemo, a leading French production company in the kids sector. We hope this will enable us to develop a more multi-territory treatment of the next TV series. Sokator-442, a comedy action fantasy targeted to children aged 6-11 years old, continues to attract strong interest in Europe. We have pre-sale offers in Germany, Australia and Scandinavia and are focusing on bringing in one more key territory to give the property the critical mass that it needs."

I wonder if Sokator-442 will get a mention after MIPCOM,GON will be doing the rounds to find the last key territory,I'm sure.I wonder if the USA could be the last region with Dragonfruit Studios and all.May even get two on board as I've always thought China was favourite............

banjomick - 15 Oct 2008 22:52 - 1420 of 1609

Hmmmm, this is very interesting and nicked from over the road:

Time to dust off one of my favourite articles :-)

But first a little bit of history regarding Socator-442,the IP or concept was brought with Len Dunne and Stephen Green when they joined GON.

17/01/2005- Galleon Final Results

Acquisition and Board Appointments

In line with our strategic policy for acquisitions I am pleased to announce the
acquisition of the entire share capital of Green and Dunne Limited, a company
with two IPR projects, the development of these properties has already started
in Los Angeles. Our team at J Christopher Entertainment will shortly deliver
first designs and story springboards.
The acquisition provides us with the opportunity of working with two industry
heavyweights and I am delighted to also be able to announce that Stephen Green
and Len Dunne, have today accepted their appointment to your Board of
Directors.
Stephen Green is an expert in both license acquisition and exploitation with an
excellent track record in the UK and internationally with global brands.
At Chorion plc, as director of brand operations he was a senior member of the
management team and responsible for the commercial planning and exploitation of
all their brands.
He previously worked as licensing director for Hasbro Consumer Products for
five years, with strategic and commercial responsibility for acquiring
international licenses and exploitation of Hasbro brands. This involved working
with global brands in Pre-School, Boys, Girls and Family programming including
Bob the Builder, Star Wars, Monopoly, My Little Pony, Action Man and a number
of sports brands such as Manchester United and Formula 1.
Len Dunne has expertise in product and brand development with 15 years
experience in marketing both in the UK and the USA.
At Chorion plc, as director of brand development he was also a senior member of
the management team with responsibility for strategy planning, research, new
acquisition identification and evaluation, and content development and funding.
He previously worked as director of marketing and global brands at
Entertainment Rights plc. Prior to that he spent six years at Hasbro where he
held several roles both in Europe and the USA including global director of
marketing - Boys Action. He had global responsibility for Transformers, Batman
toys and the US launch of Pokon toys.
Collectively Stephen and Len have direct experience of building successful
entertainment brands in key categories and channels globally. These include TV,
Theatrical Releases, Home Entertainment, Publishing, Multimedia, Toys, Games,
Live Events, Sponsorship, Partworks, Merchandising, Third Party Promotions,
Direct Marketing, On-Line and Retail.
Stephen Green will become Chief Executive Officer and Len Dunne Managing
Director of Galleon Holdings plc.
Their appointments further demonstrate that our strategic re-positioning of
Galleon during 2004 has great appeal to the industry.

11 April 2005

"Galleon, the intellectual property owner, developer and manager is delighted to
announce the introduction to its portfolio of a new intellectual property,
which has been developed by the Company's recently acquired subsidiary, Green
and Dunne Ltd.
The property, provisionally titled `Project Sport,' would consist initially of
52 half hour episodes incorporating animation and live action aimed at boys. It
is anticipated that the property, involving a global sports theme, will feature
internationally renowned soccer stars who have already indicated their desire
to be involved. It has been developed using UK and US writers and animators
under the direction of J Christopher Entertainment, Galleon's LA based studio."

"The Project Sport property was conceived by Stephen Green and Len Dunne, CEO
and Managing Director of Galleon. The pair have worked together both at Hasbro
and Chorion. At Hasbro Stephen Green was responsible for license acquisition of
entertainment properties and out licensing of Hasbro brands while Len Dunne
managed Action Man, Transformers and Batman. At Chorion, where the pair was
part of the management team responsible for the turnaround of the business,
Stephen Green managed global marketing operations while Len Dunne was
responsible for TV animation development."

banjomick - 15 Oct 2008 23:54 - 1422 of 1609

I think that GON have sent the three best people they could possibly send to MIPCOM to gain deals whether it be Sokator-442 or others.

Not sure how accurate this is and I have posted this before but here it is again about Mahesh Ramachandra:

http://www.linkedin.com/in/mramachandra

Regarding Dragonfruit Studios I have posted what I think is some good background info.from post 1328 onwards.

and regarding Len Dunne along with the whole team,I think you just have to look at how GON has changed in both content, vision, size and SP,enough said! :-)

I'd have to double check but if I remember right Apollo's Pad was the other IP that Green and Dunne Limited brought with them when joining GON.........
