How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?
Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Just put my position in on the Carling Cup final. Now just trying to work out if I did it correctly!! Basically if Chelsea win it in normal time I'm in for a big payout. In extra time I will do OK. If Liverpool win I will be all square. If nobody scores till the last ten minutes and it is a draw then I could be in trouble! Only if I can't green up quickly. Talk about complex!

Heard from Betfair, tomorrows outage is planned in order to avoid more site slowdowns. Will be interesting to see if there is some performance improvement.

Two new things I have seen this weekend on Betfair.
(1) Somebody messing up the charts on purpose. Somebody is backing and laying 90's to make the charts messy and unreadable. However people have cottoned on and are now laying at odds undetectable by the Betfair interface to try and scupper the culprit.
(2) A big hitter in the football matches that is laying huge amounts at short odds. Not sure of their motive or method.

Scrip

If you place an order at 2 at say 45. Then replace it at 3.99 and cancel the original order you have an open order for 1.99. This will not be seen by the person trying to back and lay at 90 as the Betfair interface only shows odds where the money available is 2 or higher. When he places his order he will get filled at 45's and lose half his money and not achieve his objective. Just to hack him off more place more orders at 44,43,42,41 etc..

Anybody managed to log into Betfair today? I am unable to, since the site came back up. Trying to identify whose issue it is.

OK here Scrip. If you haven't, try closing all browsers, clearing IE cache, rebooting, and check CAPS lock. Then try disabling popup stoppers.
