Galleon Holdings (GON)

banjomick - 15 Jun 2004 08:48

INTELLIGENT INVESTING WITH BANJO,well sort of! (Ed-hmmmm-lol)

Galleon Holdings plc has three key divisions:Galleon Entertainment for entertainment type IP,Croco Worldwide for product IP,Phoenix for interactive TV services for broadcasters in China/South East Asia which includes Robot Information Technology (Lushy Assets ('Yunbo')) who are a wireless interactive platform service provider in China who will work alongside Phoenix to enable GON to hold on to a greater part of the generated revenue and so increase the profit margin......think that's the plan! :-)

This makes Galleon Holdings a 'One Stop Shop' to develop and complete new and existing IP's.

From the last Interims dated 27 June 2008:

"We have also signed a development deal for another popular show, Mysti, with Planet Nemo, a leading French production company in the kids sector. We hope this will enable us to develop a more multi-territory treatment of the next TV series. Sokator-442, a comedy action fantasy targeted to children aged 6-11 years old, continues to attract strong interest in Europe. We have pre-sale offers in Germany, Australia and Scandinavia and are focusing on bringing in one more key territory to give the property the critical mass that it needs."

I wonder if Sokator-442 will get a mention after MIPCOM,GON will be doing the rounds to find the last key territory,I'm sure.I wonder if the USA could be the last region with Dragonfruit Studios and all.May even get two on board as I've always thought China was favourite............

Time to dust off one of my favourite articles :-)

But first a little bit of history regarding Socator-442,the IP or concept was brought with Len Dunne and Stephen Green when they joined GON.

17/01/2005- Galleon Final Results

Acquisition and Board Appointments

In line with our strategic policy for acquisitions I am pleased to announce the
acquisition of the entire share capital of Green and Dunne Limited, a company
with two IPR projects, the development of these properties has already started
in Los Angeles. Our team at J Christopher Entertainment will shortly deliver
first designs and story springboards.
The acquisition provides us with the opportunity of working with two industry
heavyweights and I am delighted to also be able to announce that Stephen Green
and Len Dunne, have today accepted their appointment to your Board of
Directors.
Stephen Green is an expert in both license acquisition and exploitation with an
excellent track record in the UK and internationally with global brands.
At Chorion plc, as director of brand operations he was a senior member of the
management team and responsible for the commercial planning and exploitation of
all their brands.
He previously worked as licensing director for Hasbro Consumer Products for
five years, with strategic and commercial responsibility for acquiring
international licenses and exploitation of Hasbro brands. This involved working
with global brands in Pre-School, Boys, Girls and Family programming including
Bob the Builder, Star Wars, Monopoly, My Little Pony, Action Man and a number
of sports brands such as Manchester United and Formula 1.
Len Dunne has expertise in product and brand development with 15 years
experience in marketing both in the UK and the USA.
At Chorion plc, as director of brand development he was also a senior member of
the management team with responsibility for strategy planning, research, new
acquisition identification and evaluation, and content development and funding.
He previously worked as director of marketing and global brands at
Entertainment Rights plc. Prior to that he spent six years at Hasbro where he
held several roles both in Europe and the USA including global director of
marketing - Boys Action. He had global responsibility for Transformers, Batman
toys and the US launch of Pokon toys.
Collectively Stephen and Len have direct experience of building successful
entertainment brands in key categories and channels globally. These include TV,
Theatrical Releases, Home Entertainment, Publishing, Multimedia, Toys, Games,
Live Events, Sponsorship, Partworks, Merchandising, Third Party Promotions,
Direct Marketing, On-Line and Retail.
Stephen Green will become Chief Executive Officer and Len Dunne Managing
Director of Galleon Holdings plc.
Their appointments further demonstrate that our strategic re-positioning of
Galleon during 2004 has great appeal to the industry.

11 April 2005

"Galleon, the intellectual property owner, developer and manager is delighted to
announce the introduction to its portfolio of a new intellectual property,
which has been developed by the Company's recently acquired subsidiary, Green
and Dunne Ltd.
The property, provisionally titled `Project Sport,' would consist initially of
52 half hour episodes incorporating animation and live action aimed at boys. It
is anticipated that the property, involving a global sports theme, will feature
internationally renowned soccer stars who have already indicated their desire
to be involved. It has been developed using UK and US writers and animators
under the direction of J Christopher Entertainment, Galleon's LA based studio."

"The Project Sport property was conceived by Stephen Green and Len Dunne, CEO
and Managing Director of Galleon. The pair have worked together both at Hasbro
and Chorion. At Hasbro Stephen Green was responsible for license acquisition of
entertainment properties and out licensing of Hasbro brands while Len Dunne
managed Action Man, Transformers and Batman. At Chorion, where the pair was
part of the management team responsible for the turnaround of the business,
Stephen Green managed global marketing operations while Len Dunne was
responsible for TV animation development."

banjomick - 15 Oct 2008 23:54 - 1422 of 1609

I think that GON have sent the three best people they could possibly send to MIPCOM to gain deals whether it be Sokator-442 or others.

Not sure how accurate this is and I have posted this before but here it is again about Mahesh Ramachandra:

http://www.linkedin.com/in/mramachandra

Regarding Dragonfruit Studios I have posted what I think is some good background info.from post 1328 onwards.

and regarding Len Dunne along with the whole team,I think you just have to look at how GON has changed in both content, vision, size and SP,enough said! :-)

I'd have to double check but if I remember right Apollo's Pad was the other IP that Green and Dunne Limited brought with them when joining GON.........

banjomick - 16 Oct 2008 00:12 - 1423 of 1609

If these pictures for Sokator-442 don't have an Eastern slant then I don't know what does:

If by the end of this year we don't receive any updates I think I will have to put this IP to bed me thinks.Just looks so good visually and an ideal format for the Chinese or any market in my opinion and wholly owned by GON!

banjomick - 16 Oct 2008 00:25 - 1424 of 1609

and me final thought on Sokator-442,if you read this thread can we have a 'VERY' prefixing the 'SOON' as it must be two years now! :-)

http://www.sokator442.com/

chamcham - 16 Oct 2008 12:05 - 1425 of 1609

not sure on sokator 442 banj

I think that Galleon are putting a big effort into the game show format.

They can probably see the cash benefits of trying to drive yunbo and
phoenix. The yunbo will bring instant cash to the table if positioned in the
right direction.
Banj you are the man for recent rns's.
The really big one for me was the add on bit about Yunbo doing all billing for
one company.
I will go have a look.

chamcham - 16 Oct 2008 12:11 - 1426 of 1609

rns 7.7.08

In the yunbo share issue it mentioned the 60% growth.

Looking at it do we think it means 60% overall or 60% mnth on mnth. ie 100k mnth 1
mnth 2 160k mnth3 220k mnthe4 280k mnth 5 340k mnth 6 400k.

If the later we could be in for a massive shock.[i think they meant the former].

banjomick - 16 Oct 2008 12:50 - 1427 of 1609

Afternoon cc

I fully take on board your view on S-442 and you may well be correct.
And yes Yunbo generates near instant revenue once a show it's linked to is aired, which is great!

As far as the 'since the acquisition,Yunbo has grown its average monthly revenue by approximately 60% and now is the tenth largest mobile service provider in China'

Hmmm, not sure but can't see it being 60% month on month although that would be nice :-)

It must be as it says the average has been raised by 60% which is still very good. Then the question has to be asked how much revenue does it take to be the tenth in the whole of China?

banjomick - 16 Oct 2008 17:15 - 1430 of 1609

PETALING JAYA, October 13: Chelsea FC and British reality show giant, Galleon Entertainment, have teamed up in their search for Malaysia's next teen football idol.

Galleon has created the Super Soccer Star Malaysia reality TV series that promises participants an adrenaline rush on the football field, and heart pumping behind-the-scenes drama for home viewers.

Registration for Super Soccer Star Malaysia starts this October 13. Those aged 13 to 16 years can apply by texting 'SSS REG' to 37788, or by logging on to www.supersoccerstar.com.my.

Mahesh Ramachandra, Galleon's Global Director of Entertainment, said he expects applications from thousands of young Malaysian footballers whose dream is to play among some of the world's best young football talents.

"Four finalists will visit the Chelsea FC Youth Training Academy in London to be assessed by Chelsea's coaching staff, alongside other young international football talents. The final winner, selected by public vote, will be rewarded with a training stint in the Academy," he said.

Super Soccer Star is co-produced by Galleon and its local production partner, Nafalia Corporation Sdn Bhd. It will air on RTM2 at 9.00pm every Thursday, from December 18. The season will run for 13 one hour episodes till March 2009.

Chelsea FC is Super Soccer Star's official football partner worldwide. In Malaysia, the reality TV series is supported by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and the Malaysian Ministry of Youth & Sports (KBS).

"Galleon is very excited to be working with Chelsea FC and RTM with the support of FAM and KBS to roll out the Super Soccer Star Malaysia reality TV series to a new country in Asia.

"The series was a phenomenal success as a national show and talent hunting platform when it premiered in China last year. We expect the same success when Super Soccer Star hits the screens in Malaysia too," Ramachandra said.

The partnership between Chelsea and other local partners was confirmed by Peter Kenyon, Chief Executive of Chelsea FC, who was in Malaysia this year in conjunction with Chelsea FC's 2008 Asian Tour.

"Super Soccer Star will be the most talked about football reality show in the coming months and a fantastic opportunity to expose our young football talents," enthused Mohd Najib Hj Jaafar, Executive Producer from Nafalia Corporation Sdn Bhd.

"The show's objectives are not just to find the best teen footballer, but also the kid with the most star quality. The focus of this reality TV show is on fun and entertainment with a strong celebrity component," added Ramachandra.

MIPCOM biz shows no sign of downturn

Emerging markets help boost attendance

By Elizabeth Guider

Oct 16, 2008, 07:56 AM ET

"We had record attendance and we have some very important emerging markets, Johnson explained, putting particular emphasis on Russia -- whose participation grew by 100% -- and on the Mideast -- where it was up 50%. He pointed to the enormous capital earmarked for media investment in the former, and a $100 million program partnership just inked by Abu Dhabi with National Geographic as indications of the growth opportunities in those regions."
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3ie35802bf9befd1a9eb952ef0fdba4b88

Above relates to post 1401

""In conjunction with the global sports sponsor of Super Soccer Star, Chelsea Football Club, Galleon is conducting negotiations in several other territories in South East Asia, Europe, Russia and the Middle East, building a global entertainment brand."-If you have followed GON and the way things pan out then these deals if made will probably be announced end of this year/early 2009."

banjomick - 17 Oct 2008 12:40 - 1432 of 1609

Just a passing thought,I wonder if we will see Mahesh Ramachandra doing a few interviews soon? Although we see him in the above post (Edit-the one above the above) he has generally been very quiet which if you look back at his other work, before GON,it's very unusual for him to be so!

banjomick - 17 Oct 2008 19:37 - 1433 of 1609

I see GON/Phoenix are also running a competition alongside the regular voting route and all via SMS,which is nice! :-)
