MEDICAL MARKETING, A Speculative Punt That Might Reap Rich Rewards (MMG)

goldfinger - 01 Sep 2004 15:33

This ones a heck of a specualive investment but it seems that the institutions are willing to stomp up the cash to back it in the long term.

Heres the latest news from Killik stocbrokers on the company..........

MEDICAL MARKETING Joint Venture

We recently highlighted Medical Marketing (MMG) as worthy of attention. The company, in which I have a personal share holding, has this morning announced the formation of a joint venture, Genvax, to develop a novel DNA vaccine platform technology.

Human trials have been underway since 2001 in areas such as Lymphoma and Myeloma but the technology has broad applications in cancer, viral and bacterial infections (hence the term platform). The technology works on boosting the immune system by teaching it to identify hard to recognise cancer proteins as foreign and destroy them. Early results from the 25 patient trial in lymphoma are encouraging and evaluation of the result is expected by March 2005. Successful results should mean big pharmaceutical groups will start to take financial and commercial interests around that time.

This looks to be the first of a series of announcements due from Medical Marketing as it has a range of predominantly cancer trials moving into the clinical stage. (news flow could push the price higher)

The stock has made good progress in recent sessions up to the mid-80p level where the company is valued at just under 40 million. ENDS.

Please DYOR

cheers GF.

Why the small slide in the SP,,??

mitzy - 26 Apr 2005 13:45 - 1438 of 2444

I bought in @210p this morning expecting a healthy rise today but things dont always go to plan.

Chiva20 - 26 Apr 2005 13:46 - 1439 of 2444

Buy on rumour ..? They must be mad.

chad - 26 Apr 2005 13:47 - 1440 of 2444

As was said before, I think the MM's want to get there hands on these, and they're using any small selling spite to drop the price, even though buys are outnumbering sells overall.

jimmy b - 26 Apr 2005 13:49 - 1441 of 2444

Really dropping the price now 190p !!

mitzy - 26 Apr 2005 13:50 - 1442 of 2444

Wished I had bought this afternoon now...down 12% in 10 mins..

chad - 26 Apr 2005 13:50 - 1443 of 2444

This is really unfair though and bloody irritating to watch!

jimmy b - 26 Apr 2005 13:50 - 1444 of 2444

I think your right chad , more buy volume and its lost 20 odd pence.JB.

goldfinger - 26 Apr 2005 13:51 - 1445 of 2444

There about 13 sells caused the problem. Perhaphs some thaught they were going to hear the ruthenium trial results announced. We were warned yesterday this wouldnt be the case.

cheers GF.

Chiva20 - 26 Apr 2005 13:54 - 1446 of 2444

hopefully it should bounce off 170 support. Good time to top up?

bhunt1910 - 26 Apr 2005 13:57 - 1447 of 2444

I am buying in @ 183 - hoping for a bounce. I thought it was an excellent presentation - cant understand the drop - but hoping to take advantage

goldfinger - 26 Apr 2005 13:58 - 1448 of 2444

Well Ive added and am having some more screw the mugs who have sold.

cheers GF.

ateeq180 - 26 Apr 2005 13:58 - 1449 of 2444

Cant believe this ,and also tempted to buy but a bit risky at the moment after the way it has fallen.

ateeq180 - 26 Apr 2005 14:07 - 1450 of 2444

HOW do you average down on a volatility such as this, thought of buying at 183p,at the same time thinking this might fall more ,but instead moving nicely back up,very difficult to get things right most of the times.

goldfinger - 26 Apr 2005 14:10 - 1451 of 2444

Buyers coming back in but the MMs are screwing us today good and proper.

No problems though because over the next few days and indeed weeks I can see these really being upgraded. Brokers will be re - rating and also taking up and I can see the fincial press talking them up.

cheers GF.

Chiva20 - 26 Apr 2005 14:11 - 1452 of 2444

I think it will fall more, (although naturally I hope it won't!) I'm poised to top up if it hits 175.

bhunt1910 - 26 Apr 2005 14:36 - 1453 of 2444

I think I have given up trying to analyse this share - it seems to defy all logic. Its bouncing around like a yoyo at the moment - a daytraders dream.

I only hope that there is some positive press comment tomorrow - and that that is followed up in the journals and weekend papers - 'cos this share is worth a lot more than this and it seems to have enormaous potential - but what do I know!!!

Chiva20 - 26 Apr 2005 14:42 - 1454 of 2444

Lol Baza I feel the same way. Very disappointed today but not surprised as you say it defies all logic. Importantly though this is oversold in my opinion, won't be long before these prices are history

bhunt1910 - 26 Apr 2005 14:51 - 1455 of 2444

I tend to agree with you and have bought @ 183, 189 & 190 - but then again!!!

314,000 buys vs 267,000 sells= 11% drop. stinks of a shake out by the MMs to me in anticipation of all the broker re-ratings that GF mentioned. This is a definately a temporary setback IMHO, and we shouldnt be looking at these prices for too long now.
