FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

I'm long too since the January pull-back. I have the Boost 2x leverage ETF (2MCL) and not too expensive - TER 0.6%. Some good products available.

cynic - 28 Feb 2014 17:12 - 14499 of 21973

i'm currently long dow, and despite reports of more jollies in ukraine, it seems unperturbed, but i'll be out and maybe short before the close

skinny - 28 Feb 2014 17:12 - 14500 of 21973

I've used LUK2 & SUK2 in the past.

cynic - 28 Feb 2014 18:41 - 14501 of 21973

out dow long at 16395 (+65), but have shorted half that position
1) 16400 is a typical round number resistance
2) dow has had one hell of a rise this week
3) it's the last day of the month
4) we're coming up for w/e
5) the russkies in ukraine are unpredictable

cynic - 28 Feb 2014 19:06 - 14502 of 21973

short now extended at 16370

perhaps i've got it right for a change :-)
