MEDICAL MARKETING, A Speculative Punt That Might Reap Rich Rewards (MMG)

goldfinger - 01 Sep 2004 15:33

This ones a heck of a specualive investment but it seems that the institutions are willing to stomp up the cash to back it in the long term.

Heres the latest news from Killik stocbrokers on the company..........

MEDICAL MARKETING Joint Venture

We recently highlighted Medical Marketing (MMG) as worthy of attention. The company, in which I have a personal share holding, has this morning announced the formation of a joint venture, Genvax, to develop a novel DNA vaccine platform technology.

Human trials have been underway since 2001 in areas such as Lymphoma and Myeloma but the technology has broad applications in cancer, viral and bacterial infections (hence the term platform). The technology works on boosting the immune system by teaching it to identify hard to recognise cancer proteins as foreign and destroy them. Early results from the 25 patient trial in lymphoma are encouraging and evaluation of the result is expected by March 2005. Successful results should mean big pharmaceutical groups will start to take financial and commercial interests around that time.

This looks to be the first of a series of announcements due from Medical Marketing as it has a range of predominantly cancer trials moving into the clinical stage. (news flow could push the price higher)

The stock has made good progress in recent sessions up to the mid-80p level where the company is valued at just under 40 million. ENDS.

Please DYOR

cheers GF.

I think it will fall more, (although naturally I hope it won't!) I'm poised to top up if it hits 175.

bhunt1910 - 26 Apr 2005 14:36 - 1453 of 2444

I think I have given up trying to analyse this share - it seems to defy all logic. Its bouncing around like a yoyo at the moment - a daytraders dream.

I only hope that there is some positive press comment tomorrow - and that that is followed up in the journals and weekend papers - 'cos this share is worth a lot more than this and it seems to have enormaous potential - but what do I know!!!

Lol Baza I feel the same way. Very disappointed today but not surprised as you say it defies all logic. Importantly though this is oversold in my opinion, won't be long before these prices are history

bhunt1910 - 26 Apr 2005 14:51 - 1455 of 2444

I tend to agree with you and have bought @ 183, 189 & 190 - but then again!!!

314,000 buys vs 267,000 sells= 11% drop. stinks of a shake out by the MMs to me in anticipation of all the broker re-ratings that GF mentioned. This is a definately a temporary setback IMHO, and we shouldnt be looking at these prices for too long now.

chad - 26 Apr 2005 14:54 - 1457 of 2444

Would be nice to see 200p again by the end of the day though.

goldfinger - 26 Apr 2005 15:01 - 1458 of 2444

Yes its the fact that Best said the Ruthenium trials had been put back so that three rather than two would then go forward and they would also improve the compounds making them more attractive to a Bio Giant.

Problem is that most in these markets are trading on credit/margin and that puts certain time restraints on them, they could not physicaly hold within the market without knowing when the trials would be passed and I mean passed because Im sure its just when and not if.

In a way this presentation as back fired on Best he shouldnt really have called it if he knew he was going into it with a time lag on trial results.

Medium term investors should reap the benefits of upgrades through the financial community over the coming days and weeks.

cheers GF. PS, Pis-e- Off. This puts Knevil back in the game and the MMS are robbing us blind today not just on this one but nearlly all small caps.

mickeyskint - 26 Apr 2005 15:12 - 1459 of 2444

As Ruthenium is the next news to come out and has now been put back. I can't see these doing very much for the time being.

Depends Mickey on the feed back we get from the meeting from Brokers and the financial press, if they talk it up we could be looking at an upgrade but I have no doubts that the Evil one will make the best of this. Beginning to think that this company however technicaly brilliant it is, as a real weakness when it comes to PR. Very frustrating at the moment. Anyway we will know over the next few days. Im staying put as quality always outs in the end and Im still very bullish, it just means Ive had to put my toast back in the toaster as its not brown enough.

cheers GF.

Might get a good finish tonight, its been a funny sort of day interms of mmg.

In these markets Baza itd be a bike LOL.

cheers GF.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a placement here. There is only 45mil shares in issue and if institutions do get on board there would be a shortage, it might take the volitity out. Dilution of course.

I do not usually post on here but I see I sometimes get copied onto here so perhaps I should visit from time to time.
It seems that there is a bit of an air of disappointment from some on here which I do not share at all.

So, to counter that view, I am putting a copy of my earlier post on the Michael Walters site. Here goes.

It seems a few people had difficulty picking up the R&D presentation. You will still be able to watch it at any time later, if you can get it working, but you will need a broadband connection and Real player, I guess.

First reactions are that it was very impressive indeed.

Ruthenium sounds as if it will be sensational to me and likely to supersede the current platinum products which, before they came off patent, were a $5 billion a year market and growing.

Genvax appears to be still a fairly long way from hitting the market with a comercial product. So I am still mega bullish on MMG but, for me, Oncosense has moved massively up the scale but Genvax, perhaps just back a little. On the other hand, the news on Genvax/ prostate looked very encouraging with a very commercial product perhaps within reach.
But Ruthenium, wow.

I suppose that early price reaction will have been due to there being no announcement yet on clinical trials for ruthenium compounds. David Best explained it this way.
Ruthenium compounds can be 4 to 15 times more effective than platinum.
Resistance which the body can develop with platinum can be completely designed out in the ruthenium ones.
Toxicity of the best ruthenium molecules is extremely low.

Mr Best said that they could easily have been in clinical trials by now with a very effective ruthenium product but they have taken the view that, to maximise the attraction to big pharma, a little extra work could tweak the best molecules slightly to get an even better product and maximise the potential return. They will take three ruthenium compounds to trials later this year, he confirmed.

Best explained that they were originally intending to run trials on two compounds and they always target the safest ones first as safety is the top priority. However, early tests have shown them to have even lower toxicity than their best expectations so the decision has been made to also include a third compound which is super-effective but with a slightly higher toxicity.

I had not heard David Best before today but I must say that I thought that he came over very well. I am certainly gripping onto my shares after what I have heard today and the initial price drop does not concern me at all.

cheers for the vote of confidence Xylos

Xylos I read your posts elsewhere and have enjoyed reading them. In fact I usually cut & paste them here for others to read. Your views well balanced and are most welcome. Definitely a cut above the others from the other place.

Lads no harm meant but you are staring down the barrel of a sub 1 share

Its going to happen soon 20/30m would be more than a fair market cap for a company that makes no money and employes 12 people

Thats about 45/60p

Xylos I take it your from across the road please feel free to join us here. We are a freindly bunch and we indulge in constructive debate wether we agree with one another or not.

I like your summing up of the peresentation and agree with everything you say and I had forgotten about how D Best had mentioned the Prostate Genvax was near to commercialisation, so hopefully we should have some news flow pretty quickly from that.

What does annoy me though about this company is the PR side of things, ok some will say well at least they put on a web cast for retail investors and not many do that, fair enough but I still feel D Best shot himself in the foot today by going forward with a web cast when he knew that the Ruthenium trials had taken a step back (even though for quality and commercial reasons)and a lot of short term investors were expecting a positive announcement.

I also feel the company should have moved a lot quicker over the duff analyst report.

Having said that I am full of confidence for the future having had a few hours break cursing over the price this afternoon (and lets face it there were more buys than sells today)as I was expecting a big pay day later this week or next, but as they say its not gone away its just on hold for the time being. Bring on Vane Minerals.

cheers GF.
