FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

By the look of it : gold producers should be up soon....taking time but POG, CEY and a minnow OMI...might be worth a look...

Shortie - 07 Mar 2014 10:07 - 14559 of 21973

Its easy money at the moment Jimmy, hope the range stays tight so I can play large stakes... African Barrick Gold (ABG) have been doing well, did you ever buy back into these?

jimmy b - 07 Mar 2014 10:17 - 14560 of 21973

No sadly i bought ABG and out with a nice profit then they flew and i just never got back in was waiting for a step back that never came ,missed out on a big rise .
I've been following your FTSE trades ,well done ..

Shortie - 07 Mar 2014 10:50 - 14561 of 21973

Yeah on ABG I remember posting that they were undervalued but never bought as had enough exposure elsewhere. I'll have to keep an eye on them for a correction.. I didn't know you followed my FTSE trades, I don't always post the opening and closing positions if I'm away from a computer and do it over the phone. Skinny is good to follow on the FTSE also, I follow his posts and have to say always recheck my positions if he's going the opposite way.

Shortie - 07 Mar 2014 10:57 - 14562 of 21973

FTSE100 Daily, should be a short play.

jimmy b - 07 Mar 2014 11:01 - 14563 of 21973

skinny - 07 Mar 2014 11:11 - 14564 of 21973

Seymour Clearly - 07 Mar 2014 11:12 - 14565 of 21973

I've got a few CEY which are doing quite well. Also bought ADN a few days ago.

Shortie - 07 Mar 2014 11:13 - 14566 of 21973

We all have those days aswell Jimmy. I'm no professional trader, for a long time I lost on the markets but over time you get a feel for it as long as you learn from mistakes..

Shortie - 07 Mar 2014 11:15 - 14567 of 21973

What you hedged at Skinny, 6774 I'm, debating a short carried over the weekend...

jimmy b - 07 Mar 2014 11:17 - 14568 of 21973
