The Youtube SuperSoccerStarShow Channel now has 419 videos! I would guess the idea is to get as many of the would be soccer stars their few minutes of fame and thus encourage voting.

Hmmmm, the Apollo's Pad website is down (Ed-not that old chestnut!) which may or may not prove interesting.
The fact that GON have a partnership with USA based Dragonfruit Studios which initially involves the licensing of two of Galleon's multi-platform properties IE Super Soccer Star and Apollo's Pad.
From the link below they are going to "relaunch and manage Apollos Pad on a global basis",this does add a little bit of excitement but of course this may be next year and have nothing to do with website being down today.
All good fun! :-) Please dyor ect ect ect

Compared to the Apollo's Pad Youtube Channel,SSS has roughly three times the viewing figures over the same time period but just a rough guess though.
There are now 4576 contestants registered for the Super Soccer Star show and as said before, the first stage is to whittle the initial group down to 300 finalists for the try outs on 15th November, this first stage is by text voting.

Facebook's boost for TV ratings
A&E Television Networks director of international digital media Fabienne Fourquet (below) explains how social networks are changing the way people consume video.
The other night as I was watching an old James Bond movie on my home theatre while browsing Facebook, I found myself turning my attention away from my giant living-room wall TV to the tiny videos on my friends' Facebook pages, from a user-generated video someone made for my wedding, to a funny Sarah Palin/Hillary Clinton Saturday Night Live skit, to music video clips from everyone's iLike favourite bands.
Obviously, despite the screen size injustice, it was still easier for my attention deficit disorder self to muse upon the wonders of 'online video snacking' than to get into the quite complicated Bond plot where I can never quite understand which girl is the villain. And as I was wandering between video screens, I began wondering how the relationship between TV, online video and social networks is evolving and changing the way we find and watch video.
Here's what we can learn on the web about this topic:
More than 27 million UK internet users (78% of the total UK internet audience) viewed 3.2 billion videos online in June 2008, which represents an astounding 118 videos per UK internet user (ComScore, September 2008).
Interesting factoid: Surfing for porn has dropped to about 10% of online searches from 20% a decade ago, and the hottest internet searches now are for social networking sites (Bill Tancer's new book Click: What Millions of People are Doing Online and Why It Matters).
In 2008, a 55.9% increase in online video ad spending clearly indicates that this is a viable advertising channel (eMarketer, August 2008).
In 2007, the audience using social networks has increased by two-thirds in the Middle East and Africa, 35% in Europe and one-third in Latin America (ComScore, August 2008).
Video views and social networking are two online activities that are experiencing a huge boost and creating a lot of buzz these days. Both activities demonstrate strong measurement in terms of 'time spent,' currently the best online metric, and for delivering a targeted, quality audience.
This translates into highly coveted eyeballs for advertisers and higher CPMs for publishers. Needless to say, getting a video into people's inboxes or onto their social network home pages is the Holy Grail for TV digital marketers.
Most recently, A&E created a Facebook game to promote the real-life series Parking Wars, about the men and women of the Philadelphia Parking Authority. The game, in which each player owns a street corner and can ticket their friends' cars and become a Parking Mogul, was the only marketing support behind the season-one launch.

Galleon Holdings has pegged Adrian Whyles as business development director, which includes overseeing the launch of the "Skunk fu!" toy line in the U.K., Europe and America.
Whyles previously worked for Hasbro where he was involved in branding and licensing projects for BeyBlades, Star Wars, Transformers and Littlest Pet Shop.
"His appointment comes at a time of aggressive growth for Galleon with our first ever 'Skunk fu!' toy line about to launch," says Stephen Green, chief executive officer of Galleon. The above would fit in with the last Trading Update and SSS:
Galleon continues to build on the success of the first series of Super Soccer Star, which broadcast on Guangdong TV Sports Channel in China earlier this year. In addition to the syndication of the first series to other regions in China, Galleon is in advanced discussions regarding a second series of the show on a national platform across China. New series are planned for Malaysia and Indonesia, which are all expected to be broadcast during 2009. The US rights have recently been licensed to Dragonfruit Studios, an original content studio focused on multi-platform entertainment properties, which plans to launch the show in the US during 2009. In conjunction with the global sports sponsor of Super Soccer Star, Chelsea Football Club, Galleon is conducting negotiations in several other territories in
South East Asia, Europe, Russia and the Middle East, building a global entertainment brand.

That will be on a platform similar to Hunan satellite with a reach of 400 million homes or bigger! Which would be nice! :-)

While looking at the Trading Update:
Galleon Holdings plc (AIM: GON), the AIM listed entertainment media company developing and producing multi-platform properties with a focus on emerging markets, provides the following update on trading for the year ended 30 September 2008, prior to entering its close period and ahead of the announcement of its preliminary results in January 2009.
The Group has made good progress during the year and full year results are expected to be at least in line with market expectations.
Will have to check but is it not unusual for AIM companies to mention the 'close period' like that?
Hmmmm, there is definitely something brewing me thinks, hmmmmm
Edit-Or not :-)
