BP are they worth 350p (BP)

mitzy - 25 May 2010 08:48

The oil rig disaster in the Gulf of Mexico has damaged BP's reputation will they manage to avoid a share collapse to 350p.?

Chart.aspx?Provider=EODIntra&Code=BP.&Si

Cynic - that news was out sometime ago - when the price was @356 :-)

hlyeo98 - 15 Jun 2010 14:18 - 148 of 1170

Shorted it at 380p myself.

cynic - 15 Jun 2010 14:21 - 149 of 1170

can't watch all all the time as am actually busy with some nice biz contracts

anyway, i have no prob getting in a bit late or out a bit early; a profit's a profit and sp could have just as easily romped away to 370 or more a little earlier
i've now been in/out here profitably 2/3 times

hlyeo98 - 15 Jun 2010 14:27 - 150 of 1170

With BP so irresponsible and loaded with greed, you don't need to watch too much, cynic. Heads will roll in BP.

hlyeo98 - 15 Jun 2010 14:31 - 151 of 1170

Dow opening will sag BP...

TheFrenchConnection - 15 Jun 2010 14:33 - 152 of 1170

going pre 300p by friday - perhaps all those puts are correct and 170p is on the cards ....would hate to be long on this....never thought day would come id see bp go bankrupt

cynic - 15 Jun 2010 14:37 - 153 of 1170

doubled my position at 346.6 ..... thanks again leo

hlyeo98 - 15 Jun 2010 14:38 - 154 of 1170

Chapter 11 on its way, tfc.

Clubman3509 - 15 Jun 2010 14:44 - 155 of 1170

If they do go bust I hope those greedy American Obanana bastards cop for the total cleanup bill.

cynic - 15 Jun 2010 14:48 - 156 of 1170

strange strange attitude ..... in any case, the insurers will be picking up swathes on behalf of the other parties involved and Chapter 11 is just a protective order .... if BP do go into admin - just vaguely possible i guess - then there's an awful lot of valuable assets to realise

hlyeo98 - 15 Jun 2010 14:53 - 157 of 1170

Obama will take over its assets and make it American then.
New name, AP???

Clubman3509 - 15 Jun 2010 15:02 - 158 of 1170

BP and UK government need to get some balls and tell Obanana like it is.

It was an accident, and BP will be made to pay big time we don;t need a slaves descendent leading the lynch mob he should act and speak more like a president than a slave.

Obanana makes me so angry that I am considering joining the BNP, or the KKK if they have a UK branch

ahoj - 15 Jun 2010 15:03 - 159 of 1170

or maybe OP (as Obama Pet)..
He will get very good support from Americans!!!!

skinny - 15 Jun 2010 15:11 - 160 of 1170

Just been stopped +12

cynic - 15 Jun 2010 15:14 - 161 of 1170

if you spill a glass of water at home, it is an accident and you mop after yourself - or does your wife do it for you?

in this instance, even if just an accident - i.e. not culpable negligence - BP still have an obligation in all senses of the word to clean up and to pay for same ..... nor is it for the uk taxpayer (some delude themselves that it's the gov't) to come to the rescue.

on a broader front, this is quite the most appalling ecological disaster from which it will probably take a decade to recover, and some aspects will be irretrievably damaged.
the economic impact in US Gulf is a separate issue, albeit devastating for those affected.

hlyeo98 - 15 Jun 2010 15:20 - 162 of 1170

Maybe I can shite in somebody's driveway and say, 'oops, it's an accident'.

Far from U.S. Gulf, Nigerian thieves mop up oil spills

No one knows for sure how much oil has seeped into the rivers and creeks of the Niger Delta, but environmentalists say the ecological impact over time in one of the world's largest wetlands is much worse than in the United States.

"The oil spills in the Niger Delta are more than what has happened in the Gulf of Mexico," said Alagoa Morris, field monitor for Environmental Rights Action in Bayelsa state.

Oil companies turn on BP at US congressional hearing

WASHINGTON, June 15 (Reuters) - Executives from other major oil companies turned on BP Plc (BP.L) (BP.N) and defended their own drilling practices during a U.S. congressional hearing on Tuesday as they sought to stave off new government regulations in the wake of BP's oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

halifax - 15 Jun 2010 15:42 - 165 of 1170

presumably drilling at 5000ft beneath the sea surface is somewhat more difficult than drilling on land ,what was BP'S disaster contingency plan?

cynic - 15 Jun 2010 15:48 - 166 of 1170

as i posted some time back, as i understand it, the drill hit a methane bubble whose force blew apart the safety blocks ..... obviously these blocks were thought to be more than sufficient for all realistic contingencies, but of course testing could only ever be theoretical

============

meanwhile, have closed half position at 342.3 for a smallish profit, but def better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick ..... undecided whether or not to let balance run o'night
