Please report bugs and enhancements (BUGS)

andy.lovell - 04 Nov 2002 11:26

If you're having any problems, or want to suggest some improvements, please post below!

Level2 changes
In the last few weeks we've needed to implement some code changes to make us compliant with the LSE's rules on the access of Level2 data.

The following requirement is now in place:
You can only use 1 program on 1 computer to access Level2 on MoneyAM using a single username.

This means that you are able to view as many Level2 windows using any one particular browser, or program, that you wish, however you will not be able to use both Firefox and Internet Explorer at the same time (the same goes for using Quote Tracker or TradeSeeker at the same time as viewing it using a web browser)

If you find you're being logged off of MoneyAM's Level2 with the message 'you've logged on from another location' then check the above and make sure you're not running any other programs at the same time before reporting this as a bug.

Ian T , no sorry. Ian when I start everything is ok and then when I go to trades from stockwatch more than a couple of times it freezes on the trades page with no adverts. Cannot isolate the problem , last time on trades it just said downloading but didn,t.

Maddoctor,

I have contacted Joathan over this to see if he can spread any light on it - he will be here in a little while as he was working on the site until 4am this morning, kbut I will contact you with his findings as soon as possible.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 02 Dec 2003 09:42 - 1478 of 7315

maddoctor,

there are no reported problems with the system at the moment - have sent you a mail with a few system change suggestions that may help.

KGF: 289.5 289.75 : MoneyAM 290.0 290.25

Time on MoneyAM correct. MoneyAM screen has not got focus. Clicked on MoneyAM browser screen. Price changes to 289.50 289.75.

New tick 289.25 289.75, MoneyAM no response. Now 289.25 289.5 still no move from MoneyAM. Click on MoneyAM browser. Price updated correctly.

Well, made the MoneyAM browser the primary (focus) window, ADVFN in background. Price changes on ADVFN, no change on MoneyAM primary window. So, there goes that theory...

I've noticed this problem on Win2000 and Win XP Pro. Using latest IE 6.0.2800 and MS Java.

Thanks,

Kyoto,

I will pass this onto Felix and Jonathan.

Ian , switched off xp firewall , no difference - switched off norton antivirus 2003 , no difference , b*gger , whats wrong. Used your service for months and months with no problem. As a non technie it seems that when the bar adverts fail to appear the page freezes , something your end????

IanT(MoneyAM) - 02 Dec 2003 10:20 - 1482 of 7315

maddoctor,

The adverts failing to load is usually a sign that something in your system is stopping them from loading - as soon as Jonathan gets here I will get him to contact you.

thanks Ian , the problem is at first the adverts do appear and then when I move a couple of times from stockwatch to trades and back again something stops a full load

I was experiencing some difficulty a short time ago this morning. Level 2 was streaming OK, but I found that on streaming trades I could not switch from one share to another - the page was just hanging up. I managed to link to the home page but had to log in again (all the while L2 was still streaming OK).

I came to this thread, but in trying to access posts other than the last few - to see if others were having the same problem - the page was again just hanging up.

The problem does appear to have cleared now, though.

maddoctor - 02 Dec 2003 12:39 - 1485 of 7315

Ian , just noticed something else , if I move around the site and back to stockwatch , that is when the adverts fail to appear - if I then refresh the stockwatch page up they come .make any sense

IanT(MoneyAM) - 02 Dec 2003 12:41 - 1486 of 7315

Maddoctor,

without one of our technical guys sat there taking a look at your computer it does make it very hard.

However I have sent some of their suggestion via E mail can you take a look when it is convenient?

Just mail me back.

thanks

Ian

maddoctor - 02 Dec 2003 12:48 - 1487 of 7315

Ian , the only e-mail I have got so far is the suggestion to take the sun java download - knowing the problem how will that help as the streaming seems OK.thanks. P.S. understand difficulty in diagnosis there are severe downsides to living in an isolated scottish village!!!!

IanT(MoneyAM) - 02 Dec 2003 12:59 - 1488 of 7315

maddoctor,

It might pay to download the latest version anyway just to bring you up to date - can you also tell me how long it has been since you ran a windows update?

Ian

maddoctor - 02 Dec 2003 13:04 - 1489 of 7315

take automatic windows - the essential one , not the others i.e. all those to do with security etc. Problem did not start after a download.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 02 Dec 2003 13:06 - 1490 of 7315

maddoctor - just trying to ascertain as to whether there may have been something which was missed from a download.

can you give the Java download a try to se if this helps and let me know?

Ian

maddoctor - 02 Dec 2003 13:09 - 1491 of 7315

thanks for reply - only reason I have not gone straight to it is I had terrible problems with the streaming java "over the road" . I use them as a backup to yourself. Could the download cause me problems over at advfn

IanT(MoneyAM) - 02 Dec 2003 13:15 - 1492 of 7315

maddoctor,

there is a potential that other sites may not work - but I could not comment as I am not privy to their behind the scenes workings as it were :) If it were to affect other streaming services from other sites, it can be removed uninstalling it and the system will revert to whatever plugin you were using before.

I am a little stumped as to what the cause is as all systems are working fine and as we discussed before remote diagnosis of what is causing this on your PC is not that easy for either of us :)

Jonathan is currently in a meeting, but I will get him to contact you as soon as he returns to the office to see whether he can shed any light on the matter.

Regards

Ian

maddoctor - 02 Dec 2003 13:19 - 1493 of 7315

Ian , thanks I will wait for Jonathan. It does seem to be the bar adverts which are causing some kind of problem for me - when they do not come up the page stalls.
having sat here now for two days trying to fix this , I am convinced it is the bar adverts causing the problem and the first 4 from left to right and why do they keep refreshing them selves??

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 02 Dec 2003 15:37 - 1494 of 7315

maddoctor,

Nothing has changed on our end which would cause the problems that you are seeing, and if it had, I am certain that other users would be experiencing the same symptoms.

By 'freeze', do you mean the program stops responding, or are you still able to use the browser for other things?
