FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

With some help from Klal - the worst recent consecutive run has been 9 down finishes in November 2011 followed by 7 in July/August 2011.

Elliott Waves I happen to quite like. I thought Hilary made a good point in the chart.

6524.3 short closed.. +5.7

goldfinger - 14 Mar 2014 12:08 - 14761 of 21973

No he/she didnt.(hilary)

This persons perception of Elliot Wave is flawed.

Pull yourself together Shortie.....your the man.

hilary - 14 Mar 2014 12:20 - 14762 of 21973

Shortie,

I did say that I was no Elliott Wave technician.

Regarding the hard rules, in my interpretation wave 2 didn't retrace more than 100% of wave 1 and wave 3 was, by my calculations, 164 points and wave 1 was 143 points, so it wouldn't have been the shortest impulse wave. The fly in the ointment is, as you rightly point out, that wave 4 would have overlapped into wave 1. Extrapolating the logic suggests, therefore, that we're still in wave 3 of a correction to the uptrend.

Fishfinger,

I've known for a long time that you're a dickhead, and, if there was ever any uncertainty, the rest of the forum have now got your card marked as a dickhead too.

Congratulations on wrecking this thread. You've managed to wreck your own thread and, together with Fred, you've succeeded in driving most normal people away from this forum. You're clearly a few cans short of a six-pack - don't they have any decent shrinks you can visit in that shanty town oop norf that you mistakenly think is paradise?

goldfinger - 14 Mar 2014 12:25 - 14763 of 21973

LOL.. hey OLD HAG get upstairs. (lets face it thats why you are there)

And then re- read Elliots own flawed book on the wave.

Shortie - 14 Mar 2014 12:26 - 14764 of 21973

I'm no technician either Hilary but do find these things interesting, more so your Schaff Cycle comments.

goldfinger - 14 Mar 2014 12:28 - 14765 of 21973
