FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

Yes thats what Osbourne said on Andrew Mar Sunday morning. I bought TW. when (Credit Suisse) said the ride for housebuilding shares was over last week .

I so nearly sold TW. last week after a ride from 70p. Sometimes lethargy is rewarding :-)

Can anyone think of any other sectors that MAY benefit from the budget?. Obviously estate agents.

Didnt get to read sunday newspapers was watching that shower up at Old Trafford.

Should soon start to benefit the minnows...OMI...GFM(zinc and gold)....and perhaps a few explorers as projects become feasible again....though you need longterm hedging for that perhaps..

Should continue to rise Goldfinger.....heading for 1400 dollars an ounce...

cynic - 17 Mar 2014 08:50 - 14791 of 21973

sticky - i certainly liked the idea of HS2 being started in the north or even at both ends at the same time .... that would do far more for northern and the general economy than just tinkering with "small pensions", whatever that may mean

i confess, now it has been brought to my attention that - obviously in fact - you're looking at project to last the next 100+ years, i am leaning towards its construction, despite the wrecking of much beautiful countryside etc

goldfinger - 17 Mar 2014 08:59 - 14792 of 21973

Fingers crossed RF.

goldfinger - 17 Mar 2014 09:01 - 14793 of 21973

Cyners I dont know what to think over HS2, winners and losers I suppose. Im all for economic growth and better communications but at the same time am against the countryside being destroyed.

required field - 17 Mar 2014 09:01 - 14794 of 21973

HS2.....will be like in France...sleek and slender through the countryside...during construction: you will disturb the rural areas whilst building is going on on either side of the track...20 yards on either side ...perhaps less....when it is finished everything will be put back to right.....and it will be magnificent...nowhere near as wide as motorway construction,,,

goldfinger - 17 Mar 2014 09:03 - 14795 of 21973

Just thought of a potential winner for Ossies budget. SFS Safestyle UK, Windows.

Always need windows.

Im buying some.....stock that is.
