It's always interesting to hear what the bits and pieces from advfn have to say ..... and then do the research
I started posting on here maybe two months ago - I have started a total of 32 threads - including one or two general or non share trading threads. This leaves 28 shares I bought and talked about.
21 of the 28 made trading profits of between 10% and 210% if you took them at the right time. 2 others made 7.5%
14 are still in profit
A 10K investment on each (day thread started) would still be showing a profit of around 16665 -assuming you never cashed any profits along the way
By cashing profits along the way - especially on the trading shares you would have substantially increased this situation.
I have not included the multiple profits made on shares like BAY etc and I have assumed the worse situation on shares like Tads.
The moral is - when peeps say something - check it out - they may have a hidden agenda. I make no claims for my skills but resent some idiot coming along and making claims about my trading that just don't stand up to any real scrutiny

Yep some you win and some you win but it doesn't look like Tadpole is going to be one of those 'big' winners does it?

`some you lose and some you lose`, has a more vibrant ring to it.

the reason I play with dozens of shares at a time is to avoid the idea that one share will bring me down - see my comments on units etc on the tads thread

Going back to units for a minute, a `unit` of 20,000 was mentioned, and figures from a quarter `unit`up to the optimum one unit, are used, but also way above this, may be used.
This then assumes a really good share must be worth four units , so we deal any where between 5,000 to 80,000 per deal, in increments of 5,000 , sounds like bollox to me.

sounds like bollox to me as well Neo - both u and the talk of 20K
gravy - there's a saying about sticks and stones - you may recall .... I am sure you feel really really brave saying that from the safety of a bb name and a hotmail email address ..... I think bollox is Neo's favourite word and seems very very appropiate

hmmmmmmm ....
Clarvis - A unit is just a fixed sum of money and is used by traders like myself to keep control of our investments/trading. It doesn't really matter how much it is .... clearly it will vary on your total funds available to invest.
Some one like old ollie will use a as a unit and maybe someone like myself will use 10K. The important thing is the number of units invested. Normally it will be between a quarter and say 4 with 1 clearly being the norm.

LOL the fastest edit fingers in the west, it first said 20k, but never mind take his figure of 10k.
That gives a trading "unit spread"(might as well make up pseudo phrases too),
of between a quarter unit ,2,500, and four units, 40,000.
So when ainsoph tells you he is dealing, the deal may be worth
2500,( a quarter unit), 5000,7500,10000( a unit), 12500,15000,17500,20000, 22500,25000,
27500,30000,32500,35000,37500,40000 ( four units)
Can you believe this?
No me neither because its bollox.
