Millwall Holdings plc - a "Wise" punt on European or Premiership football? (MWH)

thestatusquo - 17 Mar 2004 14:44

St. Patrick's day has gone to my head! One Bushmills too many!!!

I know, I know, Ive heard it all before, football stocks only for the true & genuine fans!

Today I fancied a gamble on the turnaround in fortunes of once struggling Millwall F.C.

Millwall last night booked their place in a lucrative FA Cup semi final at Old Trafford against Sunderland FC, and the chance to go to Cardiff for an FA Cup final and guaranteed UEFA Cup Football next season.

On top of this Millwall's playing revolution under Dennis Wise & Ray Wilkins has taken the club into the play-off positions for a possible place in the Premiership & all the associated increased revenue that would go with that.

All ifs & buts, but a few definitely maybe's. Football is a funny old game, and this stock is not for widows & orphans as they say.

Take a look tho! It can't do any harm to look?

ajren - 18 Mar 2004 13:10 - 15 of 77

I would not call it a gamble.

I always buy shares as a well calculated risk.No one - in theory, and often in
practice - is against us.Gambling means the odds are stacked against us from the
start e.g.; bookmakers,casinos.

Buying Millwall is an extremely intelligent, finely calculated risk as the
downside is negligible and the upside huge.

ps I have not bought shares lol

Ahhhh ajren!

You are the crafty trickster offloading millions upon millions of these!!! All the while I'm buying half million chunks because I don't fancy "Best Mate" in the big race at Cheltenham!

I'll have a seat on the board soon!!!

LOL!

Anything can happen- all I know is that it is going to be an exciting couple of months for sure. Some of the guys at work has got in on this as well.

And yes, good stadium and sound management. Roll on April 4 !!!

slmchow - 18 Mar 2004 16:40 - 18 of 77

the share price has steadily risen from 0.231p to between 0234 and 0.236

thestatusquo - 18 Mar 2004 16:49 - 19 of 77

From acharting point of view, rising 50 day movinga average crossed rising 200day at start of March giving a strong buy signal.

It remains to be seen how much steam this can pick up in the run in to the FA Cup semi in a couple of weeks.

slmchow - 19 Mar 2004 11:08 - 20 of 77

Apprently Millwall will make about 2m by being in the semi-final.

30000 tkts @ average price 40 = 1.2m.
semi-final fees and Sky TV money should make it up to 2m.

thestatusquo - 19 Mar 2004 14:40 - 21 of 77

There has certainly been a sharp re-rating of the companys chances, as the chart shows.

Next fortnight will be very interesting, particularly if the form of the cup run pushes the club further up Division 1 into play-offs.

The extra televised play-offs would also provide a few quid??

thestatusquo - 19 Mar 2004 18:00 - 22 of 77

Good news that Leeds Utd has been sorted.

It's ironic that this Division 1 club is on a much more sound financial footing. They might be playing better than Leeds as well!!

jeffmack - 21 Mar 2004 13:55 - 23 of 77

I'm sure todays great result wont harm the share price.

thestatusquo - 21 Mar 2004 14:46 - 24 of 77

Not 'alf mate!

4-1 against West Ham. Millwall up to 7th with games in hand to take them to Premiership play-offs.

Important couple of weeks for club and shares.

7840 - 22 Mar 2004 08:58 - 25 of 77

just spent three and a half thousand on mill wall and the m.m put it down as a sell not very happy

jeffmack - 22 Mar 2004 09:27 - 26 of 77

The MM didnt put it as a sale. When the price comes through to MoneyAM the software tries to guess if it was a buy or sell depending on the price at the time the trade gets reported.

You can never take the buy/sell data at face value. And remember, for every buyer there is a seller and for every seller a buyer.

Tokyo - 22 Mar 2004 09:29 - 27 of 77

mine came up as a sale also, but I was just glad to get it at 0.25p, come on Millwall!!! I shall be cheering away in the FA cup semi-final

ajren - 22 Mar 2004 10:49 - 28 of 77

Another uptick this morning after an excellent result. If this form continues that 20million premiership pot could beckon.

It's tantalising to think that 90minutes football in the FA Cup semi can also have such a huge influence on the clubs finances.

Anyone any idea how much that UEFA Cup place would be worth? Wise & Wilkins have given this team a new hope of better times.

thestatusquo - 22 Mar 2004 18:22 - 30 of 77

Contract talks to be opened with Dennis Wise and Ray Wilkins in the summer. Statement from Chairman says.

Ray Wilkins tells Skysports of goal of Premiership football next season.

ehall - 23 Mar 2004 16:32 - 31 of 77

All buys showing as sells, you can buy at 0.2525p. They have got wimbledon midweek away and should win to put them in the play offs (third place, one behind the automatic slot). A win against sunderland will give them europe, to give them europe, probably going to get premiership as well. What would Man City, Leeds, Spurs give for that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tokyo - 24 Mar 2004 04:05 - 32 of 77

How many teams go up from the 1st Division to the premiership? How many go into the play offs?

ptholden - 24 Mar 2004 11:08 - 33 of 77

Two automatically promoted, four qualify for the playoffs, of which one will eventually be promoted.
