Base Group - why is someone accumulating stock in this cash shell ???? (BS.)

paulmasterson1 - 23 Aug 2005 18:52

Hi All,

Anyone heard any rumours about Base Group ????

All I know is, that the price went up 86% last week, as one buyer (Crispin Barker - see below !) increased his holding by 8,000,000 shares, to give him 54,750,000, or 6.5% of the company, which is just a cash shell, looking for aquisitions for a reverse takeover. Today the price dropped, and it was ALL buys, 6.2m in total, so I reckon he has bought more, wait for an RNS to show it I reckon.

Crispin Barker is connected to Civilian Content, check out their recent RNS's ....

Artists Independent Network, the London- and New York-based production/management shingleshingle run by Charles FinchCharles Finch and Luc Roeg, is seeking a merger with Civilian Content, the publicly-listed parent of U.K. lottery franchise The Film Consortium and sales company The Works.
The move has the support of Richard Thompson, Civilian's founder and largest shareholder with 25%.

AIN has lodged a bid to buy the 22.5% stake owned by Crispin Barker, offering a premium upon the current $1.1 million market value of his stock. The deal is contingent upon the Civilian board agreeing the merger, due diligence on both sides and a vote by all Civilian's shareholders.

Civilian Content buys 5.92 pct stake in aim-listed invstment vehicle Motive TV

LONDON (AFX) - Civilian Content PLC said it has acquired a 5.92 pct stake in
Motive Television PLC, the AIM-listed television investment vehicle headed by
ex-Chrysalis industry veteran, Mick Pilsworth.
Motive TV was established in May 2005 to acquire television production and
licensing businesses in the UK, following recent favourable regulatory changes
in the television market.
Civilian chief executive Chris Auty said: "This is a strategic investment
for the company as we look to further diversify our interests. Recent changes to
the regulatory framework governing terms of trade in the TV sector are clearly
favourable to the production sector, particularly in drama and series." Civilian
Content specialises in film production, finance, UK distribution and
international sales.

Also what could be in store here ????

Civilian Content plc

Change of Name

Following the company's recent announcement that it had launched a new
distribution business 'The Works UK Distribution Limited', and with its other
major subsidiary being 'The Works International Sales Company', the Board of
Civilian Content PLC has decided to change the group's name to more fully
reflect its trading names.

Therefore it is proposed to change the name of the group to 'The Works Media
Group PLC'. The previously agreed name change 'Civilian Group PLC' will not be
pursued.

This change of name will be proposed at an Extraordinary General Meeting to be
held on Friday 26th August at the offices of KBC Peel Hunt's offices, notice of
which is being sent to shareholders today and copies of which can be obtained
from the offices of KBC Peel Hunt at 111 Old Broad Street, London EC2N 1PH.

These companies and people are new to me, so does anyone know what the plan might be, and if it's worth a punt ????

Cheers,

Up 30% yesterday(if I remember correctly !)

Up 29.4% today, and loads of scope for more, with a high last week of .0015( again, if I remember correctly), and 'ol Crispin wanting the stock, probably for a RTO !

Cheers,
PM

automatic - 25 Aug 2005 15:45 - 16 of 73

A buy of 3,871,781 or 5,000 worth, at .0013, full ask price .... nice, not mine though, hopefully Crispin topping up again before the stock runs out !

Paul
having my buy down as a sell is messing the scoreboard up, i only hope they havent made a mistake with the big one
cheers AUTO

paulmasterson1 - 25 Aug 2005 16:05 - 22 of 73

Auto Hi,

The BIG one must be a buy, the SP hasn't been high enough to make it a sell :)

Cheers,
PM

paulmasterson1 - 25 Aug 2005 18:02 - 23 of 73

Hi All,

Well there we have it, up 29.4% two days in a row. The only trade I can see is the 555,555 buy at the open, then sell at the close, for a profit of .0002p, although hardly a big deal !

Also a 250,000 MM buy trade which is a bit strange for this stock, and a couple of days ago there was a mere 100,000 MM buy ????

Roll on tomorrow, and a bit more buying should soon flush out Crispin's plans :))))

Cheers,
PM

paulmasterson1 - 25 Aug 2005 22:01 - 24 of 73

End of the day looking VERY positive .... news coming ? have we forced Crispin's hand with our buying ??

The Spike came after US opening time, which is possibly interesting too ....

automatic - 25 Aug 2005 22:08 - 25 of 73

HI /paul
Nice chart , that little dip must be where they put me down for a sell
same kinda day tomorrow will be good
cheers AUTO

paulmasterson1 - 25 Aug 2005 22:26 - 26 of 73

Auto Hi,

Maybe Crispin has a plan to float off part of Civilian Content, or make an aquisition and float that off straight away .... RTO is the cheapest and quickest way to do either ....

Cheers,
PM

CIVILIAN CONTENT PLC PURCHASES STAKE IN MOTIVE TV PLC

25 July 2005

Civilian Content Plc ('Civilian'), the film production, finance, UK distribution
and international sales group announces today that it has acquired a 5.92% stake
in Motive Television plc ('Motive'). Motive is the AIM-listed television
investment vehicle headed by ex-Chrysalis industry veteran, Mick Pilsworth. The
company was established in May 2005 to acquire television production and
licensing businesses in the UK, following recent favourable regulatory changes
in the television market.

Motive's first acquisition was a TV Production business owned by Setanta, the
successful Irish sports driven broadcaster. Civilian's decision to invest
follows meetings with the Motive management in the period prior to launch.

Chris Auty, CEO of Civilian, commented today,

'This is a strategic investment for the company as we look to further diversify
our interests.
Recent changes to the regulatory framework governing terms of
trade in the TV sector are clearly favourable to the production sector,
particularly in drama and series. We believe Mick Pilsworth and his team have
the experience to build Motive by acquisition in a sector which is undergoing
consolidation'

Only looked at this because it's your thread Paul.

Looking at this month's chart......it's done a fair bit of bouncing!!!

Will watch this one now and if it's been as good as your other tips so far then I'm going to have to start following you around a bit more. All my fastest gainers I've found through you.

Havn't time to evaluate this one fully so will have to leave it for now........will probably regret it as per.

paulmasterson1 - 25 Aug 2005 22:37 - 28 of 73

Auto Hi,

Also Crispin only announced his interest in BS. last week, but he had already acumulated over the 3% requirement for notification by then, so he wanted it kept a secret while he accumulated stock .... 6.5% before he announced !

The sale by Eurobet the same day he announced his 8m buy of the previous day, could well have been directly to him afterwards, adding to his 6.5% pot, but knowing his history of not announcing his interest until he wants to, he may well have a lot more than 6.5% by now ....

Cheers,
PM

paulmasterson1 - 25 Aug 2005 22:42 - 29 of 73

Stringy Hi,

I haven't rec'd this to anyone, due to the low MCap/S.P and risk, but it's just a gamble for me, with the obvious attention of Crispin Barker accumulating stock, there must be something happening/planned, so I am in and waiting to find the answer :)
