cynic - 08 Aug 2007 13:08 - 1503 of 3050

for what it's worth (often quite a bit) Quantum Leap mag has dropped SOLA from its portfolio

kitosdad - 08 Aug 2007 13:13 - 1504 of 3050

OK Jock, you too think it is OK to impersonate an administrator on the board.?

Hmmm.!! Brings your character into sharper focus.

Sinutab, or should I say GF, your spelling still stinks.

Jock .. As regards your comment that this is not performing the way I wish :-
Nothing could be further from the truth, as I am waiting for this " inevitable fall " so that I may foolishly re-invest my money in it.

What is GF doing?.... F'all, but rant and rave about it.

hlyeo98 - 08 Aug 2007 13:15 - 1505 of 3050

Cynic, I guess you are saying SOLA will drop further. Where do u think it will fall to?

cynic - 08 Aug 2007 13:17 - 1506 of 3050

if 400 gives, and it may take more than one attempt, then no obvious support until 260 ..... PT may have a more sophisticated chart to consult

kitosdad - 08 Aug 2007 13:17 - 1507 of 3050

Oh look, a sea of red and nearly all sells, except those fools buying more than the sellers.

kitosdad - 08 Aug 2007 13:18 - 1508 of 3050

260p is about right cny, if 400p gives out.

goldfinger - 08 Aug 2007 13:25 - 1509 of 3050

LOL, and theres me thinking the itinerant advfn puffer had me on filter.

Oh dear, it just gets worse from him.

Cynic as the tipster sheet just dropped sola this lunchtime????.

goldfinger - 08 Aug 2007 13:28 - 1510 of 3050

Interesting post from Tad on ample..

Michael Porter's analysis is used by many analysts in evaluating investments.

Porter says there are 5 competitive forces on every business

1 Existing competitive rivalry between suppliers

2 Threat of new market entrants - barriers to entry

3 Bargaining power of buyers

4 Power of suppliers

5 Threat of substitute products (including technology change)

I would argue that 2 and 3 are key to the success of SOLA. Barriers to entry are all important, and if other competitors can sell cheaper than SOLA customers will buy from them. My fear is that this will become a commodity and the lowest price producer will be the winner. (sadly not sola)

There is also another issue in the availability of raw material which I believe will become increasingly limited due to demand (PV Crystalox AIM Listing Document). This includes waste used by SOLA. Using the supply - demand relationship the price should increase. Manufacturers of solar panels will then need to increase their prices to make profits and there will become a time when the panels will become too expensive, so an equilibrium will occurs and the lowest price suppliers will be the winers. At this stage no-one knows who they will be.

In my opinion SOLA has gone through the rapid development stage and turned into a supplier of a commodity where price is all important.

Previously I compared SOLA to Vodaphone and was slated. Obviously they are not directly comparable but in one way they are. Vodaphone was rated as a leading-edge technology company then after the dotcom collapse rerated as a utility. In the same way SOLA may be going through the same stage of metamorphosis from a leading-edge new energy company into a commodity company with all the problems that brings.

GREED is good. Well done on CART.

How's that fat bastard Mate of yours doing with his short on it.? Go and taunt him. I had no interest in CART, but as I said to your other tipsy pal Tom, I would have went long on CART if I'd punted. It's all there in black and white on "you know where."

Now go and spend some of your winnings on a good night-school course in English. LOL.

goldfinger - 09 Aug 2007 09:37 - 1520 of 3050

goldfinger - 09 Aug 2007 09:38 - 1521 of 3050

Could be the day of reckoning for sola.

That 4 support looks about to give way. looks to me like bullish Pis have given up the ghost.
