FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

dow may have a further 50 points or so to rise before it hits anything serious, but i am still happy to have banked a couple of respectable profits today

ukraine/russia was all quiet if not exactly cordial until a few weeks ago when putin decided to play macho-man yet again
what happens next is anyone's guess - and markets don't like that

cynic - 14 Apr 2014 20:10 - 15220 of 21973

not so dumb ..... dow well off highs

cynic - 15 Apr 2014 10:26 - 15221 of 21973

all slowly glugging south ..... another day to sit on hands

cynic - 15 Apr 2014 13:01 - 15222 of 21973

a flurry of excitement for cash dow implies decent numbers from coca cola and johnson & johnson

Shortie - 15 Apr 2014 13:14 - 15223 of 21973

6583.8, small dabble long.

dow - time to short?
whizzed up to 16,274 (resistance at about this level) and promptly retreated to ~16,200

hmm

Shortie - 15 Apr 2014 15:25 - 15229 of 21973

Not a clue now, upward channel broke...

cynic - 15 Apr 2014 15:38 - 15230 of 21973

Shortie - 15 Apr 2014 15:47 - 15231 of 21973

Haven't touced the DOW, FTSE and DAX have my interest, below upwards channel on the FTSE broke 1 hr chart, it may correct 6551 and 6583 are both long positions I'm holding

cynic - 15 Apr 2014 15:54 - 15232 of 21973

cynic - 15 Apr 2014 16:06 - 15234 of 21973

it's like a pinball machine out there :-)

i got out of dow at 16150 and thought i was pretty smart as it then recovered to about 16180
within 10 minutes it's dived again to 16135 but has been perhaps 20 points lower than that

Shortie - 15 Apr 2014 16:11 - 15235 of 21973

I've got one eye on it and the other on a 426 Hemi...

skinny - 15 Apr 2014 16:14 - 15236 of 21973

Shortie - 15 Apr 2014 16:24 - 15237 of 21973

skinny - 15 Apr 2014 16:32 - 15238 of 21973
