FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

on dow?
going which way? ..... i'ld have thought south and certainly all pretty volatile at which you're much better at playing than me

it's like a pinball machine out there :-)

i got out of dow at 16150 and thought i was pretty smart as it then recovered to about 16180
within 10 minutes it's dived again to 16135 but has been perhaps 20 points lower than that

Shortie - 15 Apr 2014 16:11 - 15235 of 21973

I've got one eye on it and the other on a 426 Hemi...

Shortie - 15 Apr 2014 16:24 - 15237 of 21973

It is, but it still holds its own in every department except sat nav and fuel economy!

There are some nice Cosworth Escorts around still. They just don't have any wow, or bling factor

cynic - 15 Apr 2014 17:18 - 15243 of 21973

there's some nice bentley supersport GTs too and they have both wow and bling :-)

Shortie - 15 Apr 2014 17:26 - 15244 of 21973

As does the Wraith... If your gonna spend it.

cynic - 15 Apr 2014 17:31 - 15245 of 21973

it's VILE!
if you get a chance, drive a bentley GT (pref supersport) and it may surprise you ..... it's quick and pretty nimble too for a car of that size and weight .... that's about as far as my car expertise goes, though i do know it has a proper wheel in each corner and just a joke one in the boot
