FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

So your averaging 6675+ plus then and are about break even.

Check your maths :-)

Shortie - 23 Apr 2014 11:48 - 15290 of 21973

OK, should be exactly 6668.83 then, as you made me work it out... ;-)

skinny - 23 Apr 2014 11:50 - 15291 of 21973

LOL.

I'm sure you've all seen this piece, being splashed across lots of the newspapers:

Retired teacher made 1 million in secret on the stock market

Except she didn't - it was her stockbroker uncle who made the money for her.

Does he want to adopt me? :-)

Seymour Clearly - 23 Apr 2014 12:59 - 15296 of 21973

Hmm, I think he might be well advised to take lessons from you :-)

Well done Shortie.

Lessons in charting Skinny!! I think I'll sign up for your course on avoiding conflicts on BB's...

Seymour Clearly - 23 Apr 2014 13:52 - 15301 of 21973

:-)

skinny - 23 Apr 2014 14:01 - 15302 of 21973

There are plenty on here - yourself included that are much more accomplished chartists - but the conflict thing - I can't see the point in having a row with someone you can't have eye contact with on a sparsely populated BB.

On busier BBs, there seems to be a large percentage of primary school children posting, so enough said on that!

I haven't even looked at the TALK thread for months - it currently shows over 6900 unread posts.

Shortie - 23 Apr 2014 14:17 - 15303 of 21973

But I don't want to be adopted.... I'm not an accomplished chartist either.

I'll have to adopt your style of just not getting involved on other threads. I know I'm too easily sucked in and get into stupid time wasting arguements...

Fred1new - 23 Apr 2014 14:29 - 15304 of 21973

Are you three arguing again?

8-)

skinny - 23 Apr 2014 14:41 - 15305 of 21973

Closed yesterday's short @6,671.5 +30.

Shortie - 23 Apr 2014 14:49 - 15306 of 21973

Well done Skinny, 6646 retest??

skinny - 23 Apr 2014 14:56 - 15307 of 21973

Thanks Shortie.

Between there and 6655.8.

I'm still inclined to leave the smaller short running as the Ukraine is not looking any better.
