MERIDIAN PETROLEUM PLC
('Meridian' or 'the Company')

VICTORY 1-21 SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED

Meridian, the oil & gas exploration and production company with key assets in
the USA and Australia today announced that the Victory 1-21 production well (10%
WI) has been successfully deepened in order to further penetrate a Niagaran
reef.

Using a coiled tubing unit and conventional work over rig, Total Depth was
reached at 4,394 feet and gas communication was made between 4,161 feet and
4,192 feet, an increase of approximately 31 feet in net pay. The well was
treated with acid to stimulate flow and is currently being swabbed to remove
remaining acid from the well bore following which the well will be put back on
line this week. It is anticipated that enhanced production rates will be gained
from the additional pay sections in the reservoir.

Anthony Mason, Chief Executive of Meridian said:

'The successful deepening of Victory 1-21 is good news for Meridian. The well
will be back on line this week, following which Meridian will resume receiving
income from Victory 1-21. We are now looking forward to the imminent completion
on Calvin 36.'

Don Caldwell, a certified petroleum geologist, is the Company's Qualified Person
and has reviewed the information in this announcement.

One Year On And Orion Gets Ready To Shine For Meridian Petroleum
Twelve months on from inking the lease on the Orion sour gas project in Michigan and Meridian Petroleum is inching towards first production. Meridian has a 75 per cent net revenue interest in the project, which is reckoned to hold 3 billion cubic feet of proved and probable reserves. This is a tasty resource and will make a healthy contribution to the AIM-quoted companys bottomline.

The Orion field is home to two wells that produced at rates of between 2 and 4 million cubic feet per day (cf/d) during the late 1980s and early 1990s but were then shut-in because of the hydrogen sulphide (H2S) content of the gas. New H2S removal technologies and high gas prices have, however, made this abandoned project newly attractive to the likes of Meridian, which is keen to grow a gas business in the Lower 48.

Meridians first job has been to test the quality of the reservoir. It has just completed the Orion-36 well, which was drilled to a total depth of 4,100 ft, encountering 111 ft of net pay on the way down. This included 33 ft with porosity of 4.5 per cent and 78 ft with porosity of between 6 and 7.5 per cent. These porosity readings are encouraging as they are comparatively high for a Niagaran Reef in this area, which traditionally has low porosity.

Bottom hole pressure readings indicate that flow rates will be higher than anticipated and earlier this month a flow test produced 3-4 million cf/d. Laboratory analysis indicates the hydrogen sulphide content is 0.21 per cent: this will be removed by an onsite removal facility, leaving the company with pipeline quality gas. The gas will be piped to a nearby pipeline operated by local utility CMS Energy, which has agreed to buy the gas: work has now started on this pipeline connection.

This is by no means a company-making project but it does add further near-term production to Meridians portfolio. This includes the Calvin field in Louisiana, where Meridian has a 68.75 per cent NRI in the southern portion of the field with rights to the shallow Sligo-Petit and Rodessa formations as well as the deep gas Cotton Valley formations.

This is a very promising project the first well on the field, the 36-1 well, flowed more than 1 million cf/d of condensate-rich gas from the shallow Sligo-Petit zone in February 2006 but it has moved forward at an agonisingly slow pace, given equipment and personnel shortages and the need to complete financing and permitting.

Things now appear to be moving again, with the project given a shot in the arm by the introduction in November 2006 of local outfit Ensight Partners III as a 50/50 joint venture partner and a new share placing that raised 1.25 million in December 2006. Earlier this month the company perforated and swabbed the 36-1 well, which is now being readied for production testing. This will be followed by a field development study, including plans to exploit the Sligo Petit and Rodessa zones as well as the deeper Calvin Deep and Troy Lime reservoirs.

These deeper reservoirs are fairly prodigious, high pressure sands that are productive for other players in the area. Last year, for example, Anadarko Petroleum described its Vernon field, some 40 miles to the north and on trend, as a sleeping giant, with proven reserves of 1.4 trillion cubic feet of gas.

Meridians project isnt in this league but it still looks promising. A previous operator, Fina, put the reserve number on the Calvin deep gas at 300 billion cubic feet of gas and petroleum engineers Scott Pickford point to a total in-place gas resource of 252.65 bcf with an estimated recoverable resource of 157.88 bcf.

It wont be easy accessing this potential, however. Some of the deep reservoirs are relatively tight and will be difficult to produce. Achieving a commercial flow rate from these sandstones will depend on the successful application of modern completion techniques. And the Calvin sandstones are over-pressured, requiring specially rated equipment to drill and develop safely.

But on the plus side, the resource is substantial, its onshore, some of the reserves are already behind pipe and extensive production infrastructure, from processing facilities to pipes, is already in place. Investors will be keen to see this infrastructure put to good use as Meridian finally brings its Calvin 36-1 gas stream online.

This co is so fustrating, they have being going on about hook up of Calvin 36-1 for over 13 months & each update is full of promises but fails to deliver !!! I understand the complexities of the work but the people running the business are supposed to be experts in these areas !!
I suppose the SP will drop again !!!!!
Just letting ot some fustration, any thoughts that may help me to calm down.

Operations Update

Meridian Petroleum, the oil and gas exploration and production company with key
assets in the USA and Australia provides an update on its operations.

Highlights:

Calculation of well flow rate at Milford 36 to commence

Lease equipment agreements signed for Orion 36

Field development plan to be prepared at Calvin 36

Milford 36, Livingstone County, Michigan, 25% Net Revenue Interest (NRI)

On 13th March, the Milford 36 well was re-perforated using a ballistic
perforating technology previously utilized by Meridian in the Calvin 36 # 1 well
in Louisiana.

The Milford well had some 1,450 pounds per square inch ('PSI') Shut in Tubing
Pressure('SITP') on the morning of 13th March, indicating potentially virgin
pressure from the Niagaran Reef. Due to this high pressure and the combustive
nature of the gas, the well was extinguished with salt water and the
perforations made at the requisite zone.

Following perforation, the well flowed back some of the fluid used to extinguish
the well and, due to darkness and the frost laws in Michigan, a frac tank was
filled and the water was disposed of accordingly. The well was shut in overnight
and despite having in excess of 100 barrels of salt water in the formation, the
SITP was 1,275 PSI, clearly indicating that good contact with the producing zone
had been made and that gas pressure was of a high rate. The well flowed back the
fluid at approximately 30 barrels per hour at around 150 to 175 PSI flowing
tubing pressure. The recovered water weight and density all indicated that this
was salt water used last year to clean the well bore. The original assessment
was that this fluid had been absorbed by the formation.

Given the promising outcome of this set of perforations, the next step, likely
to take place in the next week, will be the calculation of the bottom hole
pressure ('BHP') and potential well flow rate. The well is located on a primary
pipeline route and the gas is considered by Meridian to be of pipeline quality
with no requirement for any form of processing. All steps will be taken to bring
this asset on line as soon as possible. Additionally, the Company is negotiating
with co owners the purchase of additional working interest.

Orion 36, Oakland County, Michigan, 75% NRI

Work has commenced on the construction of the hydrogen sulphide (H2S) removal
facility on site. The Company has entered into several lease agreements for
critical items of equipment in order to minimize up front capital expenditure
and also to speed up the process with long lead time equipment. It is
anticipated that the well should be on line before the end of June 2007.

Calvin 36, Winn Parish, Louisiana, 68.75% NRI

After recent work and positive results, the Company is now satisfied that the
well is in good condition and able to produce gas on a sustainable basis. Recent
swabbing of the well indicated some small obstructions around the pay zone at
bottom hole, but these have since been cleared and the Company will continue to
periodically swab the well in order to clear any additional obstructions that
may arise.

The pressure build and the potential flow rate is as anticipated by the
Directors. Detailed discussions with Smith Operating of Shreveport LA have
now begun over the hook up of the well into the processing system in place at
the Calvin Field and to get the gas into the local pipeline system. To this end
an additional gas sample from the well will be obtained next week in order to
move this process forward as rapidly as possible.

Work is continuing with Ensight 111 Energy Partners on the deep gas and it is
anticipated that certain locations will be staked in the next 30 to 45 days and
a field development plan finalized over the course of the next 2 to 3 months.

Australia, Dolores, 100% WI

The Native Title agreement is expected to be signed in Adelaide in April 2007.

haven't followed this stock for ages, but an interesting chart always provided sp does not plunge through 25+50 dma (coinciding now) and 200 dma at 20 .... it shouldn't! .... that being so, expect decent support here and thus effectively a pretty good buying opportunity, thoug the more cautious may want to see a decent bounce first.

Meridian Petroleum, operations update come with a shed load of information. Money in the bank. Brammer had over-billed Meridian by some $89,953.22. its a sad state of affairs when Meridian could only get there money through legal action. The full report can be found at shareclubuk.co.uk. The demand for Oil and Gas is always strong.. With oil prices on the brink of increases which will benefit both Meridian and there investors.

Calvin Field Update

Meridian Petroleum, the oil and gas exploration and production company with key
assets in the USA and Australia announces that its Calvin 36 #1 well located in
the Calvin Field, Winn Parish, Louisiana has undergone treatment to prepare it
for gas production.

On Tuesday 8 May the well was treated with a nitrogen wash to remove any
potential obstructions to gas flow in and around the area of the slotted
liner by the producing zone within the well bore. The treatment was successful
and some residue was removed from the producing zone area. Additionally, the
resulting gas pressure build up and flow back post the removal of the Nitrogen
was satisfactory for commercial production purposes.

On Wednesday 9 May a swabbing unit was used to remove fluid from the well bore, including the water previously used to 'kill' the well. Again, the resulting
pressure build and flow back of gas from the reservoir were found to be
satisfactory for commercial production purposes, and there appeared to have been
no additional water ingress moving into the well bore.

Swabbing was completed on Thursday 10 May with no additional fluids being
recovered. Given the satisfactory nature of the gas pressure build up and
prospective flow rate, the Company is now in the process of finalizing
arrangements with Smith Operating of Shreveport, Louisiana to tie the well into
the local Calvin Field gas processing and transportation system.

The gas contains approximately 10.187% CO2 and so must be processed in order to remove the CO2 before it can be sold into the grid. The Calvin Field gas
processing and transportation system includes a CO2 knockout facility, and so
will provide the quickest and most efficient processing of the gas and removal
of the CO2.

Tony Mason, Chief Executive Officer stated, 'The final steps towards getting
Calvin 36 #1 into production are now in place, and we are on target to meet our
stated goal of production in the second quarter of 2007. Our next challenge is
to exploit the gas in the deeper zones of the Calvin Field.'

Art Davis of the West Mountain Operating Company in Longview, Texas meets the
criteria of a qualified person under the AIM guidance note for mining, oil and
gas companies, and has reviewed and approved the technical information contained in this announcement with respect to Calvin 36 #1.

myway - 18 May 2007 09:24 - 171 of 741

Positive news in from Meridian 14th May. The final steps towards getting
Calvin 36 #1 into production are now in place, we are on target to meet our
stated goal of production in the second quarter of 2007.

The response from the markets were that the SP has traded down which continued the trend of the last few weeks. The boys and girls at shareclubuk.co.uk were in profit but now we are out of pocket. Posters are there any underlying reasons why the fall in the SP should take place? If so can you let the club know? Or is it the MM adjusting, before production starts, which in-turn should be followed by a SP hike? By the way was yesterdays gain of 0.75p the start of a turnaround?

Tau Ceti - 05 Jun 2007 17:13 - 172 of 741

The market makers just p*ss*d all over investors today by faking buy / sell figures using an offer price way in excess of actual buy price. For anyone interested the actual buy / sell figures were approximately as follows: Buy = 656010, Sell = 537924. The market makers would not be playing these games if this company did not have outstanding prospects coming on line any day now so beware of buy / sell figures you see for the next few weeks. Someone out there is trying to scoop up as many MRP shares as they can get on the cheap. Pity the authorities are too spineless to deal with these people.
