Big night for the young Clarets in FA Youth Cup 3rd round proper
Old Trafford, 7pm Friday.

It's going to be a tough game for our youth team as they head for Old Trafford and a date with Manchester United tonight, but it is also going to be a big night for them and one they will probably never forget.
Last season Burnley defied all the odds to reach the semi-final of the FA Youth Cup having beaten Boston, Ipswich, West Brom and Fulham on the way. We lost the two legged tie against Blackburn and that cost us a first final appearance since 1968.

It's the morning after the sensational result against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Every single one of those players did our club proud on as big a stage as its possible for them to play at this point in their career.

What a night too for two stalwarts of Burnley Football Club down on the touchline, Terry Pashley and Andy Farrell who helped mastermind yet another wonderful FA Youth Cup night for our club.

Pash was delighted at the end.  “You don’t get much tougher than coming here, and at Old Trafford you are always going to be classed as an underdog," he beamed after seeing his youngsters come away with a 4-3 extra time win.

... meanwhile back in the real world Cardiff stick 4 on Burnley's best mates but unlike Burnley they did manage to get on the score sheet against us.

Wonder if Beckham fancies six months with us ?

Giggs would be of benefit because he can still play but Beckam is just a marketing name now so avoid would be my feeling.

Lone Cardiff City football fan wins hearts in England

A Mr Dil had counted on seeing at least a few other Cardiff supporters.

A football fan has stolen media attention in England after being the only supporter to show up to watch his club play an away game in the Championship.

The Cardiff City fan Mr Dil was the club's sole supporter in Blackburn for an away match in Lancashire.

The 50-something casual labourer found himself alone in the visitors' section.

But Rovers stewards gave him coffee and home fans invited him for a drink after the match.

Mr Dil told the BBC he had not expected to find many City supporters from Wales.

It was a cold Friday night and CCFC never attract more than 50 or 60 away fans.

"But I went there thinking I'd find five or six other people," the Cardiff fan said.

"I went into the stadium while the Rovers were warming up. I shouted and said 'hi' to the team.

"When I went in the local fans booed me, I felt a bit offended.

"But in the end they clapped and invited me for coffee and a meal, and the club managers gave me a shirt. They wished me a merry Christmas."

Luckily for Mr Dil, City won the match 4-1 and the team dedicated their victory to their only fan. He has been invited to attend its next home match on Saturday.
