ASOS have dropped quite significantly in the past week for no particular reason and I view this as the perfect opportunity to invest as I can see them bouncing right back up to the 5.50p mark in the next 2-3 weeks. STRONG BUY!!

stockdog,
It all depends on which MA you use. I use expotential and the sp is already through the 200 day. the sp has moved sideways since 23 June between on 63p on 25th and 53p on the 7th July, last friday. But todays rise takes the sp through the line of resistance drawn between those two dates. Eric made a good purchase at 42. I hope the breakout will continue after the short termers are out of the way. All my indicators look good, my 21day RSI is above 50, the 5,35,5, MACD is above 0 but not yet above the signal line and the Bolinger bands indicated a buy on last thursday.(Long Entry).Interested in which books you are going to purchase as i rely on Murphy. SD
Eric ............ Happy birthday Have a large G&T because your worth it !!!!!! SD

I had to read that twice - very dense, but informative prose! Think you may mean 23rd May (not June). Yes, the line of resistance was quite strong, stemming from the consolidation around this level way back in September - so a good strong break through this line has been achieved. Eric is a canny (honorary) dog, of course. Thereafter you lost me with RSI's and MACD's. But I will raise a glass of Bolinger (at Eric's expense, I reckon) to this share in due course, I'm sure. What is the advantage of exponential ma's over linear - is this what EMA's are on the MonayAM Charts?
Yes, Jim Murphy was recommended and also Brian Millard - haven't tracked them down yet. When I've read them I hope to be able to hold my own (no, Seq, don't go there) in intelligent company (when I find some!).
I think we are on the same page broadly speaking - see you at 1.00 when Eric's buying!

Expotential MAs smooth out some of the 'noise' associated with the average.
Try clicking the 'Books' tab on this site young hound and all your tracking (sniffing in your case) will be complete.

seadog,
Yes as pth says EMA smooths out the average by putting more emphasis on the later prices( there are formulae for doing it). And yes that is EMA in MAM. But i did mean 23 June to the 7th July. Thats the line of resistance across the top of the share price, not the line of support from May to July across the bottom. Lets see how it goes today ??? SD

More buys than sells, price the same. What does this suggest?I know that I SHOULD know, but I don't.Help.If I sell now,I get my money back,30 lost.Feel like moving out,not much activity now, only small punters.Looking at last year's chart, the sp climbed a bit after results, fell back, retraced, tried again reaching a lower high and descended till results again and Christmas, when a new high was reached.
If anyone thinks that this will surely happen again, then I am hopping out of this share for four months
Also, the lack of intrest in this thread is worrying....there are other more exciting stocks for small cap investors to dabble in.

Ethel,
I think most people are disapointed that the sp didnt move more northward and are interested in other movements like SEO etc but you have to do what you think is right Im in long term for the IHT saving SD

"Continue to buy this exciting growth stock" says Shares magazine today. Goes on to reiterate the trading update given out by ASOS and says the ASOS forecast is too conservative. SD

Hanging onto mine, think we will see a steady but unspectacular rise in the SP, until Xmas and then assuming all goes well, a spectacular rise. Better to be in than out methinks.

pth,
Tend to agree with you that its going to be a long old haul but if you look at Ideal Shopping it seems the internet is the future, and the bombs may make people think twice about the high street . SD

If you're happy with Ultimate, can I take Primary? The first shall be last and all that!
I must say John Murphy's is a pretty slim hour's read - more a pamphlet than a boook, mostly taken up with what TA and drawing a chart - very little on MACD and RSI - but something to get started on just.
Better get Brian Millard next, although the book you suggested is out of print.

stockdog,
John J Murphy's Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets is a tome of 512 pages and costs about 40-50 quid so I think you are reading the wrong Murphy. I do not know Millard--- will have to look it up SD

ASOS mentioned in weekend FT. Reiteration of trading update, but confirming the switch from, " the Highway to the Super Highway".
Nick Robertson CE acknowledged the importance of easy access. " People have it at home and work, and you can see the traffic spikes, especialy when people have time to browse at lunchtime". ends SD

Oh that's all we need - Dil and his blatant de-ramping. Please, other long-term holders of ASC and contributors to this thread, don't listen to the man. He has an agenda and will slag off the share without backing up his comments, just as above.
