rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.
for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ
for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

i've stayed away from supermarkets for ages, but with nice little rise on wall street last night, which i hope will be extended on monday (cash dow will indicate), then there must surely be a good chance of a strong day in london to open the week
there were certainly some stocks that have been badly whacked for no fundamental reason in the last couple of days - e.g. EZJ, TCG (recovered a bit) and XEL (bought some friday) - that may pay closer investigation before the open
whether or not there will be a rally before a further sell-off is of course a great unknown ..... shortie would reckon so, as he is short ftse, but good as he assuredly is at reading the entrails, he isn't always right

as there seem no puff in the sails, i figured a downward drift was on the cards
