Dil, I bet your computer think Wales are good at rugbt as well? its badly infected, I recommend clearing the hard disk and throwing the whole thing in a skip ;-)

Getting a lot of "Mail Delivery (failure 'my e-mail address')" e-mail coming in these last few days.

Also, my ISP (OneTel) is filtering out e-mails, which contain virus attachments, from "obviously infected but they don't know" computer systems.

They come in with messages saying such things as:

A message filter removed the following attachment(s) from this message:

data.exe

A message filter removed the following attachment(s) from this message:

document_word.pif

A message filter removed the following attachment(s) from this message:

mp3music.pif

A message filter removed the following attachment(s) from this message:

message.scr

This is quite an excellent fringe benefit for OneTel customers.

Great tread,I want to use two screens with a router,have XP and Win98. Can I use them together or do I have to upgrade win98 to XP also? What router would you suggest?

You should be able to use them togather however it may be easier if you have XP on both. I use a Dlink wireless router which runs fine..

Computer systems worldwide face an attack by variations of the already-rampant Netsky virus, experts warned today.
Variants of the virus, which has plagued systems for the past two months, are surfacing with a vengeance, and computer security firms expect a fresh and intensifying electronic offensive next week. New variant Netsky.Q is designed to attack websites that offer filesharing services, such as Kazaa - best-known for its music downloading.

The experts say a further mutation, Netsky.T, is primed to flood systems with a 'denial-of-service' attack next Wednesday. It will bombard systems with electronic requests, clogging up or slowing down networks. The attack is scheduled to last for 10 days.

The latest versions of the original Netsky, which has generated millions of virus-infected mails since it emerged earlier this year, arrive as a file attachment in an email and sometimes claim to have been scanned for viruses and given a clean bill of health.
The ploy of adding a 'no virus found' message at the bottom of the email is deliberately designed to appeal to those who are too impatient to practise safe computing,' said Graham Cluley of antivirus company Sophos.

For some reason I've always had a problem defragging - if I leave the setting to re-order files and check drive for errors, it never gets past 2%. It's taken forever just to re-order the files. Now I have the setting purely on checking for errors, it still won't get past 2%. Can anyone enlighten me please, preferably in words of one syllable?

Are you defragging Win 98 or something else?

I found this:

"If you have been trying to defrag your system, but it won't get past 1% or 2% complete, you should check to make sure that your Virus protection software is turned off.

Virus protection software will make your defrag constantly reset when it changes the drive or files on the drive."

opened both my drives,what else could they do if they wanted too,
other scans come out ok,

It's 2000, Doc...hmm, I didn't install my machine, not sure where to find the virus protection software

Doc is right some of the programmes running in the back ground stop defrag in its tracks and it is sometimes not that obvious what they are.
One way is to press Ctrl+Alt/Delete and you should get task manager window up which shows you what is running.
Before running defrag close down most of the programmes running.
When I say most some of the tasks will be system programmes which either wont close or if you do will stop you seeing task bar etc but you can always reboot and try again.
