THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Fred1new - 22 Mar 2012 16:38 - 15696 of 81564

What I have become more and more fed up with is political liars of all shades.

When you look at the present government by Cameron, Osborne, and cohorts such as Clegg, Lansley and co. is that to me they not only seem to me, to be incompetent at their functions, but also are incompetent liars and this is becoming more and more obvious to the public due to media exposure.

The necessity to try and sell (PR) unpleasant policies by glossing them up is more the action of political spivs than leaders.

This with u-turn after u-turn is producing an apathetic public and disillusionment and complete loss of respect for government.
====================

But I suppose you get what is voted for and not for what you paid.

Fred1new - 22 Mar 2012 16:40 - 15697 of 81564

Ps.

I think the present government with its leadership have taken opinion of goverment to a new low.

cynic - 22 Mar 2012 16:52 - 15698 of 81564

come on all you wonderful poitical pundits .... what would YOU all have done?

it's very easy being an armchair critic, especially without putting forward alternative suggestions, let alone live with the aftermath.
the coalition (tories) picked up something of a poisoned chalice, and imo, i think they've done a pretty good job considering the dire circumstances in which the country was placed by the previous bunch .... and yes, i accept that was not 100% their fault either

Haystack - 22 Mar 2012 17:09 - 15699 of 81564

I am pretty happy with all of the budget. The louder Fred, the unions and the Labour whine and winge the more convinced that the budget was spot on.

ExecLine - 22 Mar 2012 18:13 - 15700 of 81564

I guess they are trying to rationalise, that by first giving the pensioners a pension rise before the Budget, it was then OK to start taking it off them again with some Budget taxation changes and adjustments.

Lots of pensioners are missing the first bit.

Lots of opposition (both pensioners and political oppostion) are not missing the last bit.

Such is politics.

Haystack - 22 Mar 2012 18:35 - 15701 of 81564

All the pensioners get the 5% rise. The change to the age related allowance is less than their increase. In fact the gradually rising general tax allowance is due to overtake the age related allowance and effectively wipe it out anyway. No pensioners are worse off as a result of the budget. Thr pension rise was the biggest that that there has ever been. This was done to allow for the gradual reduction in the age related allowance.

Hay,
George Carlin does not understand that capital punishment prevents people to become drug dealers.

So, his arguments are wrong, but funny enough to be sold to some.

TANKER - 23 Mar 2012 08:55 - 15708 of 81564

all drug dealers should be hung no exception

required field - 23 Mar 2012 09:03 - 15709 of 81564

That's funny ; there was an al-Qaeda personalised numberplate parked outside that flat in toulouse.....no mention anywhere...false alert presumably...

ahoj - 23 Mar 2012 09:14 - 15710 of 81564

Thanker,

Agreed if you talk about major drug dealers and those who support them.... even if it is a high ranking guy. But those who are trapped should be offered help to get back their life.

The same for criminals, like Abu Hamza. Unfortunately, based on Human Right Act, his life is more important than the life of 65 million people in this country!!!! IN some cases, the Human Right Act is misused by criminals. Human Right should be rewritten to support humans no criminals.

People like Abu Hamza stimulate hate which result in fundamentalist ideas to propagate fast amongst less educated and poor. It is very likely that the guy in Paris has been motivated by people like Abu Hamza.
