Whilst it's a pleasant change , having new topics of conversation, I think we're getting a bit ahead of ourselves-- or being led down the garden path.
If at some future date the shares are split then all fare and well (Though personally I think the two halves of business compliment each other). what would be good for the SP and my spirits woud be some hard earned cash on bottom line instead of 'more jam tomorrow'.
I don't mean to piss on anyones fire , but.... we are all still waiting .
show me the money!!!!!!!!

Just been catching up on some very constructive posts over the last few days plus the Evo note. Have topped up another cfd making good my 'base' position. Not expecting a dramatic move for a while but could come at anytime. The most significant things are that Greenseal is moving at last and we are beginning to understand the WM supplier picture. The understanding of 'senior debt' is helpful, reducing the risk of a share placing, as is knowing the qualifications of the new FD.

I do agree that the company has made some good moves and the breadth of the opportunity is much greater than, say, a year ago. The recent sp has been remarkably stable considering that we have moved in six months from the price being justified by Greenseal projections to perception that the major action is in Starpol JVs. Tim Freeborn agrees my earlier observation that 'Stanelco has suffered from having a small engineering team working on a large project'. But they have been playing their cards well, on the whole, as expertly summarised by wise old sd. From the sound of it, it will be several weeks before Greenseal doubts are fully allayed so micro-factories JV progress could be first. That really makes sense for an essentially engineering firm and gives the joined up thinking with Biotec; I conclude that any thought of splitting the company are premature but could come down the line if the US plastic market venture comes to dwarf the remainder of the business.

SEO should be ok for more working capital should they need it, if this comes off!:-

WASHINGTON (AFX) -- Thirty-eight individuals representing banking, labor, consumer and other groups are scheduled to testify at a federal hearing April 10 and 11 about Wal-Mart's plan to open a specialized bank, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation said Tuesday. The FDIC will also hold a second hearing in Overland Park, Kansas on April 25, at which 32 people will testify. Wal-Mart's bid to open an industrial-loan bank in Utah has drawn fire from bankers, who argue commercial firms shouldn't own banks. Shares of the retailer closed Monday at $47.76, up $1.07.

I think industrial, in this context, refers not to business and commerce, but to the old insurance company idea of industrial branch business.
It doesn't really exist any more and the closest thing to it is the credit unions thta many major cities have.
Off thread a bit, but interesting.

I bow to your superior knowledge Alan! I had this wonderful picture of WM lending SEO millions to assist it with a joint venture to take over the world!!

hewittalan6 - 21 Mar 2006 14:58 - 15745 of 27111

You may well be right, Kim, and I wrong, but I think Industrial banks are to service those who are on lower incomes, usually paid weekly and in cash.
They provide them with small, low cost loans and a service to spread bills that would normally be monthly.
It is the kind of thing the PM is tryring to promote for those who cannot use ordinary, high street accounts.
WM would, of course be responsible for investing the money held on deposit, and so you never know, but in the UK there are very strict rules on where and how it can be invested.
Its all probably just part of the WM drive to be seen as a caring part of the community, rather than just a money grabbing evil canker, stripping society of its wealth and turning consumers into ill-informed cash cows.
We would never view a supermarket in those terms of course....................

No, definitely not!

kimoldfield - 21 Mar 2006 16:21 - 15748 of 27111

Ah, now we know who will be involved in the building of SEO's new superfactories?:!!!

Mad Pad - 21 Mar 2006 17:48 - 15749 of 27111

I wish R Boardman all the best but feel he has made a bad career move.I believe SMC's idea of building a large architectural practice buy buying small firms to be unsound.Architects are individualistic by nature,it will like herding cats!!Having said that best of luck to them but I won't be investing.

I still think there must be a large buyer in the background soaking any sells up. Price is being well maintained.

explosive - 22 Mar 2006 17:15 - 15752 of 27111

Have just returned from holiday and seen 169 posts on this thread. Nice to see interest is high and bubbeling even if news isn't!!

kimoldfield - 23 Mar 2006 19:17 - 15753 of 27111

Hope you had a good holiday Explosive. Time we had a bit of news I think, although as they say, no news is good news! More crap:-

A young man was walking through a supermarket to pick up a few Greenseal packed things when he noticed an old lady following him around. Thinking nothing of it, he ignored her and continued on.

Finally he went to the check-out line, but she got in front of him. "Pardon me," she said, "I'm sorry if my staring at you has made you feel uncomfortable. It's just that you look just like my son, who I haven't seen in a long time."

"That's a shame," replied the young man, "is there anything I can do for you?"

"Yes," she said, "As I'm leaving, can you say 'Good bye, Mother!'? It would make me feel so much better."

"Sure," answered the young man. So, when the old woman was leaving, he called out, "Goodbye, Mother!"

As he stepped up to the check-out counter, he saw that his total was 127.50. "How can that be?" he asked, "I only purchased a few things!"

The clerk replied, "Your mother said that you would pay for her."

There has to be some sort of debating point in there?!

Oilywag - 24 Mar 2006 12:08 - 15755 of 27111

Morning all,

If there is anyone there, do you have any ideas as to why the price has ticked up .75p today. Hope it is NOT a sign of anything too exciting to come as I want the price to stay roughly at these levels until 6th April so that I can squirrell away some more shares into into this year's ISA.

For those following NOP, there was a massive leak this morning prior to 8am with the shares rising 23p at opening and news being released after 10am. They are now 41p up. Regrettably, I don't have any.

The oily one

hewittalan6 - 24 Mar 2006 14:25 - 15756 of 27111
