My pennyworth (for what its worth) - I feel the talk of splitting the company is silly in the extreme.

Would you expert, for example, B & Q to split into one company selling paint brushes, another selling the paint, another selling wallpaper, etc. etc.???....

Silly idea. It aint gonna happen, because Starpol and Greenseal go hand in hand, compliment each other, and a split would be detrimental to eithers success.

Now some of their other products, Frogpack being the prime example, I could understand being split - but not until such time as it becomes profitable, at which stage it would probably be better to sell it completely.

IMO, naturally, and in an attempt to wake up a sleeping BB!!

Oilywag - 31 Mar 2006 12:54 - 15788 of 27111

Oh dear what a faux pas?!!

My post at the top of this page should have read " I do NOT think that SEO should split the company ...."

Anyway, it has raised the dead and provoked comment.

Another example of genious company splitting was when BT sold BT mobile to mmo2 now look at their share price!! Nightmare... And they thought there wasn't really going to be a future in cellular mobiles... LOL

Just out of curiosity, if SEO did split how would our shares split, would it go 50-50 and would we get any dividend or share price increase. In other words is there any benefit to the shareholders in splitting?

Hunty...

Speaking of Frogpack, does anyone know what they market it as in France?

Biscuit - 31 Mar 2006 13:06 - 15791 of 27111

I don't think it meant split as in two separate companies, I think it was more corporate structure. What would be the point in building a ful Turnkey packaging solution and then breaking it in two????

Have a look at www.metabolix.com.Serious bioplastics company ,great website, wake up Stanelco.

Cannot believe people are even thinking about splitting SEO let alone talking about it. They haven't made anything yet that is providing a substantial bottom line and to even consider splitting into 2 now is farcical. I think you should all stop talking about it as how many times have you seen stupid rumours become engrained as reality. I would much rather Howard White and co. got on with their negotiations and delivery and get some orders racked up for 2000+ US Greenseal conversions with some Starpol thrown in for good measure whilst keeping their costs to a minimum. Greenseal / Starpol could well be inseparable in future, ie packing companies have to take as a Greenseal/Starpol package not just the Greenseal.

Anyone remember the 150 US engineers signed up this time last year for rapid US roll out?

hewittalan6 - 31 Mar 2006 15:02 - 15794 of 27111

Dawall, chill out.
Oily made a bit of a slip on the first post on the subject and everyone since has ridiculed the idea.
Oily only did it to get a bit of life in the thread. No-one is suggesting it happens.

kimoldfield - 31 Mar 2006 15:18 - 15795 of 27111

But it could happen of course, and there could be an RNS about a week on Monday and I could be a millionaire by tonight or Howard might just read this BB and say to himself "I'd better give them the good news before they tear each other to pieces"!! ;-)

I have it on very good authority that Howard posts on here under the screen-name blinger.
Just you watch for how super informed those posts are and you'll see what I mean.

Dawall

The reason why I raised the subject on this board is because EVO's latest broker's note on SEO mentioned the possibility of one division being floated separately and I thought it would be useful to fill some of the time while we wait for hopefully good news to discuss it.

The oily one

hewittalan6 - 31 Mar 2006 15:52 - 15798 of 27111

The next news will be good, Oily.
It's just how long are we prepared to wait?
12 months ago we were all saying how this one would be a good one to stick in the bottom drawer and forget about till we were old and needed the money. Now the board is full of people moaning that its not megabucks now.
I am more confident in the long term prospects for this than I have been since I bought the damn thing.
But you're right. Its fun to have a debate, even when there's nothing to debate.
Alan

kimoldfield - 31 Mar 2006 16:02 - 15799 of 27111

It's good to debate nothing sometimes, then nobody gets upset and nothing bad ever comes of it (or good). I've got nothing else to say really.

Oily Hi,

Thought your top post read a bit strange. Proves how easy it is to miss one very small bit in a post that puts completely the opposite slant to what was intended. Nice to see that although the following posts disagreed with you ( on the splitting up ) no one had a personal dig.
These threads have gone back to being a great read.
Cheers Greek

oblomov - 31 Mar 2006 17:00 - 15801 of 27111

Oily,

It wasn't EVO's broker note that suggested a split was on the cards ( i'd take it more seriously if it had been).

It was the article on proactiveinvestors

http://www.proactiveinvestors.com

I'd still like to know what they call 'Frogpack' in France - doesn't anyone know?

robinhood - 31 Mar 2006 17:09 - 15802 of 27111

Oblomov, frogpack in France is marketed as "sack de Grenouille"

hewittalan6 - 31 Mar 2006 17:09 - 15803 of 27111

Frogpack in france?
"The First Course"?
"Food by Post"?
"Nouvelle Cuisine"?

I'll get me coat.
Alan

Hello once again,

I have a feeling news will arrive early next week, how about you ?

There is only so long that shareholders in Stanelco are held on tenterhooks before news is forthcoming, and it feels like about the right time to me :)

stockdog - 31 Mar 2006 17:30 - 15805 of 27111

oblamov - at least if they split B & Q we'd know what to call the two new entities!
