FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

Don't forget that it's Russia Day on 12th June, folks, so anybody wishing to trade the Rouble crosses is gonna be mightily disappointed.

Earnings and economic data: The Labor Department said 312,000 Americans filed for unemployment benefits last week, up from 304,000 the week before.
But Wall Street is already looking ahead to Friday's all-important jobs report, which economists surveyed by CNNMoney predict will show the U.S. added 200,000 jobs in May. The unemployment rate is expected to tick up to 6.4%.

just so you know

I think we're all sat on a few unrealised losses waiting for these two to move off historic highs. For me I've been fortunate recently with a few short plays, high stakes over a few points, realised profits that off set the potential losses I'm holding.

cynic - 06 Jun 2014 09:24 - 15801 of 21973

i think i'll just hide under the pillow for now :-(
