'afternoon Jeff, what's this trading room you refer to?

I've been out shopping, bought my usual comic, IC. Feeling a bit mortal, chap dropped dead in the cafe downstairs from where I was having my lunch. Very sad, he was only 35 apparently.

Must settle down now, read the papers, update my watch lists and go through all my charts. When I get as rich as Hilary I'll buy some software to do it for me but for now it's a manual job.

Where's that teapot?

little woman - 30 Jun 2003 17:13 - 1599 of 23498

Hi all,

Jeffmack, I note what you say about golddogs possible military connection - if it's true he should have recently returned, as all the people mobilised at the begining are now back and rejoining the real world at the moment.

This may seem a silly question but does anyone else actually work during day and doesn't have the time to sneak more that 5 minutes at a time to surf? (Do most of mine when talking to clients so I can bill them for the time I spend on the net!)

little woman - 30 Jun 2003 17:18 - 1600 of 23498

Hey 8ball - did you ever start your clothing business?

Socrates - 30 Jun 2003 18:03 - 1601 of 23498

little woman
I am working full time and only have the chance to pop in and look at my portfolio, purely out of interest and no chance to buy/sell. I would like the opportunity to try out trading but am not yet fully confident of my ability in that direction. I usually get home around 4:25 pm which leaves not much time for deals.

I'm currently running some trial or test trades to see if my choices and estimates are correct. These are based on a very steep learning curve of technical analysis.

:-)

little woman - 30 Jun 2003 18:16 - 1602 of 23498

Thanks for that Socs, but I'm curious by what you mean by technical analysis?

I have recently started using Limit order trades with a certain amount of success. But find I have spend a huge amount of time working out which companies I want to invest in and at what price. Then if it any order goes through I then spend even more time trying to work out how much profit I want, against the price I think it will make before the price heads back down! It's a little fustrating as I keep getting the feeling of "missing" out but I suppose it's all a compromise and I should be satisfied with what I am able to do with the limited resources & time available!

jeffmack - 30 Jun 2003 21:46 - 1603 of 23498

Hi little woman

I too am in the 9-5 in a Japanese Bank. Luckily I have staff, so I surf and they work :-)

Hi all.

Thanks for asking about me little woman, Yes I am doing a little bit of retailing in my spare time, Snooker and Pool equipment not clothes.

So far it's going ok, selling on e bay mainly, as it fits in well with my full time job.

Never going to make a fortune but it's keeping me in beer.

Well done on the hole in one Little willie, must be short holes out there?
TRK has come to life a bit this week Willie.

Socrates - 30 Jun 2003 22:58 - 1606 of 23498

Thanks for GBG, I'll have a look at them. I could do with a ten bagger, any chance?

little woman
Technical Analysis (TA)is predicting from historical, some very recent historical, price and volume information what a share or index is likely to do next. You will often see traders talking about charts and mentioning things like Slow Stochastics, MACD, RSI and such, these are some aspects of TA.
