David Anderson (CROCODILE)

Bullshare - 25 May 2004 10:53

It is with deep regret I have to inform everyone that Dave Anderson(Crocodile) sadly passed away last night in his sleep.

This is a complete shock to all his family and friends, therefore can I ask everyone to respect their privacy and not phone his home etc.

David was the most likable and open person I have ever met and a huge friend of mine and MoneyAMs.

Whatever I post will never come near doing justice to this great man, so I will simply stop here.

Mike

20.13 I have had a few brief conversations with David's family today. Despite all that has happened they have managed to briefly log onto MoneyAm and seen the numerous postings. I know they are moved by the response. The family are in the process of organising David's funeral but matters are slightly complicated with the Bank Holiday weekend. I will post more in due course when I have some more information.

26 May :I have received many many e-mails with offers of help and offers of sympathy. Many thanks for all these and apologises if I have not been able to reply but I will get round to it. I will also make sure those that have asked me to pass on any messages to Davids family get sent on.

In the meantime I know many of you are wondering what happened. At this stage it is not for me to go into details but suffice to say it is of a natural cause and totally unexpected.

David had withdrawn a little from the site over the last few weeks as he felt he wanted to devote more time to looking after Maria who is very poorly. Although he did not post much in the day I do know he was constantly logging on. He still continued to burn the midnight oil to create each day traders thread and he would spend about 15 hours each weekend creating the Weekend/Monday thread.

16.34 26/May Have come off the phone from Rachel(David's daughter). Today is not an easy day for the family, I think they were so busy yesterday that today has been harder as it has had time to sink in. We talked about Funeral arrangements and Rachel mentioned that they could not book anything yet but will let me know as soon as possible. She mentioned once again about all the postings which they have been busy reading and thank everyone for all the kind words and thoughts. They will arrange a public funeral as they know a lot of people would like to attend.

A message from David's Family:(posted on David's website Snappytrader.com)

I was truly shellshocked and dumbstruck to learn of David's sudden departure. I was fortunate enough to have met him on numerous occasions, including at his home course just a couple of months ago. I have only been day trading for less than a year but would not be at this level without David's help and guidance.
He was so unselfish and always willing to share his knowledge.

You will be sorely missed by all.

My thoughts and sympathies are with his family

May I pay my respects to Croc as well.

What has haunted me over the last hour is this extract from a post:-

"the worrying thing is though, after all these posts about how good Croc was to others and how kind and helpful he was etc I thought of at least 2 people in my life that are like that and I was wondering whether we appreciate people like that as much as we should when they are with us? Unfortunately I came ot the conclusion that I didn't...and I intend to change that."

I know I don't appreciate some people nearly enough ...... and I intend to change that also. Thank you for reminding us Dailos.

I hope no one minds but Shares Magazine would like to pay a small trubute to David in next weeks magazine, I can't think of anything more fitting than using a few of your very kind words expressed on these BB's. I hope you therefore don't mind if I pick just a few which I think summarise the thoughts of those who have posted.

I must admit to having David on my mind for the last few days, I have been on two of his courses and met him on numerous occasions in the last 3 years he has been a great help to me, what a very sad loss to the trading community and his family.

Mike, I'm sure no-one would mind - was expecting you'd want to do something like this. Some lovely thoughts and memories here.

Bones - 27 May 2004 21:14 - 165 of 321

I have only just come across this news having been busy away from the screens. Made 1 quick post last night but didn't stop to look at the top of the BB where this thread resides.

What a shock. Like others here, I first met David in his Dudley home with the fantastic views from the back garden. I travelled 120 miles to attend a trading day back in 2000 with about 6 others. I saw him at various ADVFN bashes in London and am now at this moment typing this message on a Trader PC that I purchased from him in July 2002. I remember it well. I travelled 120 miles and for the whole afternoon he put the finishing touches to the PC as I watched making sure it was fully functioning and in optimum condition.

Without doubt, because of this generosity he extended to all who were interested, he was a true diamond. One I am glad to have known.

As someone else has said, news like this can change one's own outlook on life and how we approach it.

RIP David.

I cant imagine anyone minding Bully.
Really pleased that a lot more posts have appeared on Traders thread. Some of them informative:)Im a realist and know it wont last, but if we can get lurkers etc on board it would become the Community it used to be.
I hope as a Agnostic, that there is somewhere Croc can see all this?
If your there.Miss you cock:-)

Bully

I think thats a wonderful idea.

Marriner - 27 May 2004 21:52 - 168 of 321

I'm still a bit of a lurker I'm afraid & can't claim to have known David but Croc's thread was/is essential reading & I was always very grateful for the unselfish effort. Reading through the posts above I can see how well loved & respected was David; it seems we shouldn't underestimate the positive impact that a kind, caring, decent & honest man like David can have on others, - plenty of food for thought when looking in the mirror......How sad that it often takes such tragedy to make us stop & think.

Condolences to David's family.

Mike,

It's become very apparent two days on that David was deeply loved, admired and respected...........

........and will be for a long time yet.

If it helps his closest then I can't think of anyone objecting at all.

Electrade - 27 May 2004 23:32 - 170 of 321

We will miss your work Croc - you were truly inspirational

Technet - 28 May 2004 00:20 - 171 of 321

I've known Croc since the early days of ADVFN when Mike approached a group of us to start a financial revolution.

Together we ran the two most popular threads of all time on the ADVFN PBB.

He managed to exploit areas of the Internet way before anyone else and did so whilest thinking like a 20 year old who had just been given a new toy.

I will miss his innovation, kindness and dedication but most of all his drive for life, technology and the buzz.

RIP Croc ... the Financial BBs will never be the same without you.

Trader2 - 28 May 2004 20:28 - 172 of 321

Very very sad - he was always finding new technologies and trading techniques to add value to so many of us. He will certainly be missed by me. Bye Croc.

Hilaryb - 29 May 2004 00:00 - 173 of 321

I have been speechless since I heard, my sympathy goes out to all of David's family. I feel privileged to have learnt so much through David's dedication to this site along with the commitment he had in sharing his knowledge. He was and will remain a great inspiration to so many for years to come.

Not reading how normally he would be in the fridge for a cold beer by now this Friday evening will never be the same but David I Raise my Glass to You, as so many will,

Rest In Peace....

HowardSomerset - 29 May 2004 00:10 - 174 of 321

.....spoke to David a couple of weeks ago. He said his wife was very poorly but he would try to help me in a few weeks.

Sadly, unlike most on this bb I never had the pleasure of meeting Croc, but will always be grateful for his daily postings and graphs which I both enjoyed and learnt from. My sympathies to his family.

Although we never met, I have watched and read with interest and enjoyment much that Croc had to say on the BB over the years. The world will be a poorer place without him. My sympathies to his family as well.
