Anybody interested in this AIM listed OEM within the Semicon market? I have bought shares in this company last year , but would appreciate good no-nonsense feedback about future potential growth. Share price seems to jump quickly with low volume buys and did do very well during the last semicon boom during 1999/2000.

Bought a few more this afternoon and the offer rose by a penny. Will rocket with any additional good news when the results are announced in a few weeks time. The trading statement has already laid out what is expected, so good figures alone will do nothing, price may even retrace. IMHO

Surface Technology Systems PLC
17 April 2007
Surface Technology Systems Plc ('STS')
TRADING STATEMENT
STS announces that while enquiry levels remain high order levels in the year to
date have been substantially below expectations. At present therefore trading
for the year as a whole is difficult to predict although it is probable that the
results of the year will be significantly below original expectations.
As a result the Company is considering the implementation of a cost reduction
programme to reflect the level of trading currently being achieved and
anticipated.
STS is also in discussions with its parent company Sumitomo Precision Products
Co., Ltd., about the future financing of the business.
STS also announces the resignation of Dr Mike Love, a Non-Executive Director,
from the Board with immediate effect. The Company would like to record its
thanks to Mike for his valued contribution over the last six years.

Big rise today on "no news" might be someone thinks this is a bargain!
Now, correct me if I'm wrong but this co is majority owned by Sumitumo, so in effect it isn't what I would describe as A floated company, rather you are buying the sails of a rather dull tea-clipper. Indeed investors have paid for said sails, yet this business has no USP - it supplies precision equipment.....but it's a re-usable product, more like a lathe, or drilling machine - you need them to make your product, but not each time your firm gets an order.
It's true semiconductor business goes in 4-5year waves; often caused by comsumer demand/fad (last time it was dual-core processors, but that has cooled as folk wonder why they can't have 4-cores for the same money)....
There is some demand for low-power computing and if the likes of Google get their act together then all our PC's will become Terminals and you'll rent out the "blockbuster" software, rather than pay Microsoft 400 for a wordprocessor package with bells on etc..
+ What effect this will have on semiconductor manufacture I cannot know - so it may be game-players that will demand the greatest PC-power, since without a fibre-connection it is is probable that action-games will need the software "inside" the PC - and this means the best processing power available, to run it.
T?oday's rise:
Maybe SRTS has found a replacement for Dr Love (non-exec) which I read (above msg) had resigned in April 07. OR maybe Sumitomo has found some cash to fund the next development......
.................but I suspect it will be a long time before any punter gets a dividend.

hangon - I think there is some confusion over epic codes with this one.
There is news for STS (which is also SRTS).
It is to be bought out by Sumitomo Precision Products at 11.5p per share. Hence the rise.
