8 Ball - 30 Jun 2003 22:49 - 1605 of 23498

Hi all.

Thanks for asking about me little woman, Yes I am doing a little bit of retailing in my spare time, Snooker and Pool equipment not clothes.

So far it's going ok, selling on e bay mainly, as it fits in well with my full time job.

Never going to make a fortune but it's keeping me in beer.

Well done on the hole in one Little willie, must be short holes out there?
TRK has come to life a bit this week Willie.

Thanks for GBG, I'll have a look at them. I could do with a ten bagger, any chance?

little woman
Technical Analysis (TA)is predicting from historical, some very recent historical, price and volume information what a share or index is likely to do next. You will often see traders talking about charts and mentioning things like Slow Stochastics, MACD, RSI and such, these are some aspects of TA.

little willie - 30 Jun 2003 23:05 - 1607 of 23498

8ball...I never short, always long [and with my own money!] lol
actually 135 metres, hard punched 8 iron, 2nd in my golf career, last one 23/5/1987 in La Manga.
If trk put on 2 I'll be happy??????!!!!!!.....my life..
Have had a ball lately with atl but now left the scene with over 100%...
are you still a prmmer?...lw

LW
Well done on the hole in one. Drinks are on you..

little woman - 01 Jul 2003 12:43 - 1609 of 23498

Thanks Socs, I often wonder what people are talking about - Theres so much terminology around, some different for the same thing, or the same for different things depending on who we talking to!

8Ball, I knew it was retailing, but presumed it was clothing! Does it take up much itme? (I have a friend who has started selling sex toys on the net, but finds it very time conusming!)

LW - congrats, silly me - yesterday afternoon I was supposed to have a golf lesson and forgot because I was actually posting to these BB! I'm trying to get the courage to ring the pro and apologise.........

little willie - 01 Jul 2003 13:05 - 1610 of 23498

jeff..drinks waiting by the pool, just drop in anytime except 3/7 - 31/7 when I'm back in the uk, but on the 31/7 I shall be in the oyster bar at h/row so feel free then ok

lw...golf tip.. Never put off ANYTHING when you could be hitting a little white ball, your pro will understand as mine does!! So accomodating..lol...lw

Socs: sorry, missed your post re DYS AGM. I put up the details on the DYS thread. Midday, 29th Aug (Fri), Tapton Hall, Shore Lane, Sheffield. Mine are in nominee too but a phone call to the lovely Nick Parker 0114 263 2841 should gain you entry with no fuss. I'm hoping to go - but a long way off yet.

What a delight. I'm thinking of changing my broker. I deal through Virgin at present but I'm not impressed. No problems, just don't like the screens and the feel of it.

I'm considering going for a broker who offers Crest membership so I get all the direct information. Don't want to go back to certificates.

DYS is doing OK, Let's hope it keeps up because I'm nicely into profit now.

[:-)

This_is_me - 01 Jul 2003 20:13 - 1613 of 23498

Me uses Stocktrade - CREST membership and excellent telephone backup.

jeffmack - 01 Jul 2003 20:17 - 1614 of 23498

plenty out there to choose from Socs. I suggest you register with 2-3. And open a spreadbet account so you can be a dreaded shorter

hilary - 01 Jul 2003 21:03 - 1615 of 23498

Hightone,

Don't worry ....... I'm not stupid enough to short GBG.

Littlewillie,

If you get to read this before you leave ......... have a great trip.

Socs,

Contrary to Jeff's suggestion, I'm not so sure that you really want to be opening a spreadbetting account. It's a risky business. I recall many moons ago a comment from a very good friend who happened to be a Vice President of a major US investment bank. His words were ....... "Remember. No margin calls Hil!!" Stick to basics and I'm sure you'll do just fine.

hightone - 01 Jul 2003 21:37 - 1616 of 23498

Why Hill do you like GBG ?? or what have you heard??.

Old socs you want a ten bagger well here are 3 complete gambels some more so than others 2 of which i think hil would of thought about shorting one she would not look twice at let me know Hil if i am right in no order CRX IQE CYH.

Jeff

Socrates - 01 Jul 2003 22:50 - 1620 of 23498

Hello all.

Hilary
Don't worry, I'm not into shorting or spreadbetting. I don't like to take that kind of risk.

jgp212
Welcome back, wondered where you had gone to.

Hightone
I'll have a look at your three ten-baggers, I've never had one so it would be a new experience for me. I've had a ten-bagger in the wrong direction but that's life and part of the learning curve.

vasey - 01 Jul 2003 22:55 - 1621 of 23498

Good evening, Socks...I've been waiting here for you all evening!
