Great day across my entire portfolio today - sausage with the chips for tea, if your interested. What's Hils having, anyone know - shortbread and dripping??

Happy weekend all.

Just been reading this weeks copy of IC, "No Free Lunch" article at the back is totally about Stanelco, was surprised when I saw it!

bhunt1910 - 18 Feb 2005 21:18 - 1615 of 27111

Biscuit - Any chance of reproducing the article from a soft copy anywhere ?

EWRobson - 18 Feb 2005 21:20 - 1616 of 27111

What a happy bunch of people! Charts are fine after a brief visit to A&E (epic for testing support) and fundamentals are: well the fundamentals. Mine remain in good shape for my age, by the way: only employed in the appropriate places or, better, place! Thanks for the concern. Well done, bos: for joining me in seeing off FP as well as changing the heading post which is fine. Might be a good idea for andysmith to add a piece on the technical 'fundamentals' to help to filter out the 'evils'; perhaps e-mailing it to bos to add.

Next week? Rumour of contract news should help. May not be expectation from prelims themselves but I hope we will see some forecast figures. It will probably take confirmation of actual orders to see just what unit price is achieved and whether they are making the royalties stick. Its really good to have established a firm support level at 13p; there will no doubt be shorting in future but I doubt there would be any concerted drive to go below 13p. So even the correction has been good news - the gospel according to SEO.

Can you update the bottom bit of the header its out of date, or take it of altogether, as it will keep changing (it could be confusing to newbis).

bosley - 18 Feb 2005 22:38 - 1618 of 27111

driver, consider it done.
biscuit, we would all love to see the article in i.c.
if 13p is the new support level , then i am a happy bunny. even happier that we didnt get anywhere near the 50ma. i wonder if 17p is the new resistance level? i suppose we shall find out next time we hit 17p. but then again, once we have an announcement from asda, all bets are off. dont under estimate the power of asda. they are getting ready to take tesco off the top spot. (just thinking out loud, why havent tesco tried gazumping asda?)

Amities / From Tim Freemans article in shares mag it would appear that the Reiser deal has long been done and dusted. Thank you, Bos .i wasnt aware of that fact. Your input does not go unnoticed. To show such haste to somewhat "blindly adopt SEO s technology ( as opposed to Adsas catalogue of testing criteria) is surely the sign of a solid business model.ln that they (Reiser) knew a good thing when they saw it . We all know how the americans can "squeeze" a buck . ..l dont know what it was but something happened in the city today ...not only renewed heavy volume and the heavy support ilustrated at 12.75, and the speculator springboard it provided to the s/p to finish on a 15-50 / 15-50 spread; which is not even a luxury afforded to the likes of household names such vodafone or BT or Tesco. Teasingly tees of monday methinks . i strongly suspect its the monday blues .YESS !!! But also from a chartist aspect, todays price movement has taken SEO off the classical painful spike which is what i strongly believe led POV to suggest a 6.75 landing price No matter how flimsy the 12.75p placing appeared on initial assesment as a floorboard s/p it grew a little more tangible today .Not rock solid; but nether veneer thin as i admittedly first thought .Market makers have been remarkably reserved in their treatment of SEO to my mind . Remarkably so. Thursdays selling volume could EASILY have led to a sub 10p s/p . Still collecting them like squirrels it would appear for the real battle which has yet to be lost or won here ... For from small acorns do great oaks grow ,,,a'bientot , b/n @+ J ,,,grow.

bosley - 19 Feb 2005 07:02 - 1620 of 27111

tfc, you are starting to grow on me:)

andysmith - 19 Feb 2005 10:34 - 1621 of 27111

TFC, I didn't end up buying yesterday at 13p as I thought 10-11p possible if new folk continued to panic but by the time I got back in it was back above 15p. Good result whichever way we look at it and gives me even greater confidence to buy on dips as new support levels forming at higher and higher levels.

Biscuit - 19 Feb 2005 11:21 - 1622 of 27111

Morning all,

Article isn't really about SEO's technology it's more Alistair Blair saying about how after 23 years Stanelco had never made more than 1m profit in all that time, he bought in to them but sold out when he saw Ian Balchin had sold his 29m options at 4p (I don't think he realised the 29m shares had been bought by Andy Brough!) Then all this with ASDA took off so he bought back in at 6p and now they're 14p. He says he's not going to sell, mainly as he doesn't know where these are going to go!

bosley - 19 Feb 2005 14:56 - 1623 of 27111

cheers biscuit. by the way , who is andy brough?

driver - 19 Feb 2005 15:37 - 1624 of 27111

I am also warming to tfc

Well put.

Andy Brough is a Schroders Fund manager, I think it's a special situations fund he runs (or something similar) He bought the 29m shares that Ian Bachin sold for 1m (4p each). I understand the proceeds were put towards further product development and the court case.

EWRobson - 19 Feb 2005 22:09 - 1629 of 27111

The erudition is amazing! Yes, IC piece was written really to be amusing and succeeds in that; neutral re SEO, unless on the principle that any news is good news. One might expect a resistance level to be established at 17p and a support level at 13p with converging lines forming a triangle. However, the ASDA news is likely to produce a decisive break, more likely upwards but possibly downwards if disappointing to the market. Am happy to put my money on an upward break-out at better than 3:1 odds. Somewhat subjective and an intuitive view - but that's how I'm playing the market, whilst keeping an exit path open!
