THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Cleric Abu Qatada arrested again

Radical cleric Abu Qatada has been arrested and told the Home Office will try to deport him, the BBC understands.

He is expected to appear at the Special Immigration Appeals Commission on Tuesday afternoon, when the home secretary will update MPs on his case.

This shows that he lost support of his supporters. He is going to be lonely...

Anyway, inflation has not been that bad, I&J and GS beat estimates - J&J 1Q profit jumps 12.5 pct

Dow future is above 13000.
If Apple hold around these levels or recover a bit, shorts will be in trouble.

I think the next thing is house price rise in the US. I see Fannie Mae sell price has risen from 0.32 to 0.5 on no news. The holders are not selling.
When is the data out?

Skinny,

"Radical cleric Abu Qatada has been arrested and told the Home Office will try to deport him, the BBC understands."

How much are the travelling costs for Cruella in this case.?

What is the cost of the various court appearances?

How much of a menace is he if he is under surveillance?

If I had a mad dog, I would prefer him out of the way are somewhere I could see him.

Fascinating, if he is delivered to Jordan and they try him and then release.

Try him in this country and accept the courts decision. Then take the necessary precautions to neutralise him as any threat.

Jordan will not release him. They are more likely to torture him. He is a very much wanted man in Jordan. He has already been convicted in absentia. That will be quashed and a new trial begun. He will get life or worse.

N,

I think he is now a damp squib.

I am not against detention for a limited period, but in that it is a form of punishment, think he that he should be prosecuted and have his time in court.

I do not like UK dumping their legal responsibilities on other countries. Probably, those sometimes with mock trials.

If the laws of this country are inadequate, change them.

-------------

If he planned in this country something called "terror attack" which would lead to "criminal damage" of some form, then I would have no problem with him losing his freedom. But his punishment should be in this country.

--------

To me the crime of "incitement" seems a very dangerous and sometimes too broad a sword to prosecute a person with.

----------------

Cruella's actions and promises seems to be those of a populist government and appeal to the tory right wing and appealing to the tory right wing backbenchers.

Especially the anti-European lobby.

-
Hays,

I was tossing a straw into the wind.

How I traced my ancestry back to the Stone Age

By Carol Zall

I recently had a genetic test to find out more about where my ancestors came from. The results confirmed what I already knew - I am from a family of European Jews. But there was also a surprise - a Neanderthal forebear.
