Israeli Gaza conflict?????? (GAZA)

Fred1new - 06 Jan 2009 19:21

Will this increase or decrease the likelihood of terrorist actions in America, Europe and the rest of the world?

If you were a member of a family murdered in this conflict, would you be seeking revenge?

Should Tzipi Livni and Ehud Olmert, be tried for war crimes if or when this conflict comes to an end?

What will the price of oil be in 4 weeks time?

In The Land of the B - 26 Apr 2010 14:06 - 1612 of 6906

haymaker,
If you like Spike Milligan you can't be all bad.

By the way, you won't find me posting on other message boards......which is obviously what you wasted your time trying to do LOL

Haystack - 26 Apr 2010 14:17 - 1613 of 6906

No. It hadn't occured to me that you were posting on other boards. I was wondering how many phrases began that way.

Maybe you could spot the relevance of this

Kayak - 26 Apr 2010 14:23 - 1614 of 6906

The mistake you make, In the Land of B, is to assume that anyone who slightly disagrees with you is 'consumed with hatred'. Most people are not at the extremes like you and fahel. Most people might be swayed by logical argument. Telling them that they are cosumed with hatred, jew-haters and obsessional hate filled conspiracy theorists does not count as logical argument. That might conceivably apply to fahel but not to the rest of us.

In The Land of the B - 26 Apr 2010 14:29 - 1615 of 6906

Logical argument and deeply held emotional views are incompatible so discussing with the likes of fahel and fred is futile.
I only see fahel and fred as being 'consumed with hatred', kayak, though I have grave doubts about haymaker too. Everybody else seems reasonable and I respect their views even if disagreeing with them. They simply have opinions, not hatreds.

Haystack - 26 Apr 2010 14:38 - 1616 of 6906

I think only 'fehel' may fit the 'consumed with hatred' tag. Fred is just misguided. He is that way about many things, so it fits the pattern. One of my favoutite authors is Louis Ferdinand Celine. He was accused of being anti-Jewish as he often wrote anti-Jewish literature. What people failed to understand at the time was that he didn't hate Jews. He hated everyone, so naturally Jews were included. His anti-Jewish literature is not the reason that I like his writing though. Fred is closer to the Celine model.

I am not sure what your motivation is apart from trying to muddy the waters and stop criticism. There seems to be more hatred in your posts than the sum of all the posts on this thread.

Gausie - 26 Apr 2010 14:41 - 1617 of 6906

Hays - that's the pullitzer prize winning photo record of the naming ceremony for a london cathedral, some place out near damascus.

Shot on Kodachrome 400ASA f16 with a slow shutter. No flash. Think the photographer was Carry Verjario. Something like that.

Back to Spike.

I must go down to the sea again
To the lonely sea and sky
I left my shirt and pants there
I wonder if they're dry?

Haystack - 26 Apr 2010 14:47 - 1618 of 6906

The relevance was 'In the Land of the B' saying "Reconsidered"

It is a picture of St Paul's Road to Damascus Conversion. I thought he had received the same blinding flash (Maybe it was taken on flash then)

Gausie - 26 Apr 2010 14:49 - 1619 of 6906

Ah, but who was the lensman?

In The Land of the B - 26 Apr 2010 15:08 - 1620 of 6906

It is a picture of St Paul's Road to Damascus Conversion. I thought he had received the same blinding flash

There ya go again............bringing religion in at the slightest excuse LOL
JUst shows how religion colours your judgment...........

In The Land of the B - 26 Apr 2010 15:13 - 1621 of 6906

I guess that nice Herr Hitler was ok because he hated everybody (not just Jews) except der Volk.
Of course once you realise that you can really settle in and enjoy Mein Kampf.
Do you rationalise everything?
And you call Israel a "rogue" state..........take the sunglasses off and buy yourself a mirror.

Haystack - 26 Apr 2010 15:14 - 1622 of 6906

A Road to Damascus Conversion' is used in common parlance outside the domain of religion. It is often used for politicians who conveniently change their views on a subject. I used it in relation to you in a similar vein. It is unlikely that i would use religion to support my argument as I have such a low opinion of it.

Haystack - 26 Apr 2010 15:22 - 1623 of 6906

Mr Hitlerr was not an author of the same stature of Celine. Celine was one of the most influencial authors of the last century. He was the forerunner of the technique of stream of couciousness writing and invented the ... in the middle of sentences. If Hitler was an oustanding author then I might read him. An author's views don't detract from their writing ability. I was brought up a Catholic by Jesuit priests, but I read authors who are anti-Catholic. I am part Irish and would read anti-Irish authors. I am unlikely to raed actual anti-Irish, anti-Catholic, anti-Jewish, anti-Muslim or anti-group literature as it would probably be very boring. I have read a small amount of Mein Kampf and it seems to be mainly rubbish.

In The Land of the B - 26 Apr 2010 15:22 - 1624 of 6906

But do you not see how religion infuses our culture and colours us by providing the ethos for our social mores and moral judgments?
You have not stepped outside that mindset - at least not yet, even though you think you have.

Haystack - 26 Apr 2010 15:24 - 1625 of 6906

And how does religion colour your mindset

LOL

If you want a bad read then try this

In The Land of the B - 26 Apr 2010 15:28 - 1626 of 6906

I'm not Jewish !!!!

And don't worry you can use words like damascene and ellipses to express your meaning.

yuff - 26 Apr 2010 15:30 - 1627 of 6906

In the land -Whatever other injustices are committed in this world you more than most will understand the espression that when Israel sneezes the world catches a cold.

You will never change peoples perceptions of what a Zionist is or what a Jew is.They are grouped together and if the likes of that pathertic moroon fahel ever came to power.you know who will be first in line.

Its a sad sad world when people can only accuse Israel of mistreating its fellow Arab neighbours-and totally missing the point of what Israeli brains have brought to the region in terms of scientific ,medical, technological developments for starters.

But hey what do I care ?

In The Land of the B - 26 Apr 2010 15:35 - 1628 of 6906

yuff, you're a breath of fresh air but expect the anti-semitic outrage to pour out of certain people here for daring to say what you have.

Haystack - 26 Apr 2010 15:41 - 1629 of 6906

In the Land of the B
There you go again! You are misquoting me. I never said you were Jewish. I said "And how does religion colour your mindset". I never assumed that you were Jewish. As I have said before the problem with Israel has nothing to do with Jews.

I didn't use the term ellipses as Celine never referred to it as that. He just called it his three dots.

"anti-semitic outrage to pour out of certain people here"
It is NOT about anti-semitism. I beginning to think that logic is lost on you.

In The Land of the B - 26 Apr 2010 15:50 - 1630 of 6906

You said,
"And how does religion colour your mindset

LOL"

which implies that you think I must be Jewish. So not a misquote.

"the problem with Israel has nothing to do with Jews" Really? What problem?

I thought you had the intellect to move beyond three dots and use the correct word. Or perhaps you just think Celine should be copied..........

Kayak - 26 Apr 2010 15:55 - 1631 of 6906

I'm not sure that logic is relevant here. Take this sentence: "Its a sad sad world when people can only accuse Israel of mistreating its fellow Arab neighbours-and totally missing the point of what Israeli brains have brought to the region in terms of scientific ,medical, technological developments for starters." The logical conclusion is that any nation can behave in any way it wants provided it brings scientific, medical, and technological developments to the region. Now that is clearly wrong (to my mindset at least) and that would apply to any country, the UK as well if it behaved like that.
