THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Tanker drivers reject proposed deal

It is just the Unite union trying to cause trouble for the government.

One of the amusing moments at Prime Minister's Question Time today was when Milliband complained about the reduction of the 50p tax rate. Cameron pointed out that Labour had 13 years to raise the income tax rate and chose to do it one month before an election that they knew they were going to lose.

dreamcatcher - 18 Apr 2012 19:25 - 16175 of 81564

The article was 4.30 ish, so some time this aft. Would not think it can go on long as they have said the supermarkets will be empty in 3 days. Im causing panic now.
May not even call a strike, no dates have been announced. The petrol Garage was
busy though.

Fred1new - 18 Apr 2012 19:36 - 16176 of 81564

He does it at night.

8-)

Hays,

Looking at and listening to Cameron and to Cruella, the position the tories have got themselves into, reminds me of the "Last Days of the Reich".

5 years ago the tories blamed Europe for the Uk problems.

3 years ago they blamed the labour party.

Now they are blaming the liberal party.

To-morrow they will be blaming Europe, the previous government, the liberal party and their parents.

When are they going to realise they are responsible for their own fates, or go back to school and try rehearsing again?

aldwickk - 18 Apr 2012 20:16 - 16177 of 81564

"Last Days of the Reich" , it was the first day's before they came to power that they blamed mass unemployment on the conditions that were placed on Germany after WW1, then the blame for everything else was put on the Jew's.

History wasn't your strong point was it Fred. Anyway can't see the connection with Hay's post or this government.

aldwickk - 18 Apr 2012 20:24 - 16178 of 81564

Panic over.

Fuel tanker drivers' representatives have rejected a deal aimed at resolving the dispute over working conditions - but say they are not going on strike.

..World Record £410m Lottery Winners Named

....A retired American couple have come forward to claim their portion of a record-breaking \$656m (£410m) lottery win bonanza.

Merle Butler and his wife of 41 years, Patricia, say managing their windfall from the Mega Millions lottery may be a full-time job.

The former insurance agent and computer worker from the mid west town of Red Bud Illinois can choose between a lump sum of \$159m (£99m) or \$218.6m (£137m) spread out in payments over 26 years.

They say they plan to invest it wisely, use it to help their children and grandchildren - and that they may even splash out on a new car.

The pair are the only winners of the mega jackpot announced in March to be publicly identified, which is mandatory for lottery winners under Illinois law.

The holders of the other two winning tickets were residents of Maryland and Kansas, states that allow people to remain anonymous if they win lotteries.

"I was retired but now it looks like I have a new full-time job," said Mr Butler, referring to the task of managing the money.

The couple did not come forward for three weeks because they wanted to talk to financial and legal advisers, they explained in a press conference, before being handed an oversized cheque for their winnings.

"It really hasn't sunk in yet," Mrs Butler said in a statement.

"Winning this amount of money is a major responsibility, one we take seriously and will figure out step-by-step as we go along."

dreamcatcher - 18 Apr 2012 20:34 - 16180 of 81564

That they may even splash out on a new car. Wow tight ------------

Fred1new - 18 Apr 2012 23:20 - 16181 of 81564

Alds.

You are becoming a bigger and bigger twit.

The allegory I was using referred to was Hitler blaming the German people and those around him for failing him.

Even in the late stages of the WW2 he couldn't believe, or accept he was a failure and that a large amount of Germany collapse and other failures was due to himself, his policies and actions.

But you are right, history wasn't my strong point, but my mind for process ain't to bad.

dreamcatcher - 19 Apr 2012 06:33 - 16182 of 81564

The threat of a fuel strike still on, but they have to give a weeks notice before a strike. Dont panic !!!!!
