Having read it properly, it is very encouraging, and I can't think of any other share where a statement like that would not ignite the sp. But this is SEO, with a history of promises and no fulfillment, yet.
I am still a very happy holder, and get very excited when I read of senior level negotiations with some of the worlds biggest companies, and of SEO having the opportunity to present, on WM's behalf, to WM suppliers.
But, on a note of caution, I read that the vertical filling packaging was not as complex and full of problems as the tray lidding. This is the first time, to my knowledge that SEO have acknowledged tray lidding to have any problems other than tooling. Or am I being picky?
Also, why no update on the filter tow? Is it being quietly forgotten? I would have thought that if cradlewrap, frogpack and other obscure sidelines were worthy of update, then surely the filters were.
An (on balance) happy Alan

I think the initial responses here are on the ball. I find the statements made credible and the difficulty of the process is not understated. JJS (/PM) is justified in the claim regarding the WalMart meat visit and the Perseco potential is spect out. A couple of references could be the continuance of over-optimism but support the air of activity and negotiation. Should support the current sp and attract some institutional support on a longer term basis.

Alan: tooling is a pretty all-embracing term; the fact that they were demonstrating to WalMart at Gardiners is positive though and demonstates that ASDA are confident enough to join in the marketing effort to their parent. As I recall, they gave themselves 6 months to negotiate the filter business; not of the same order of importance as Greenseal and Starpol so not the time to comment. presumably will come up in questions.

I seldom disagree with you Eric, but on this occasion I will!!!
If the statement is read as full steam ahead, big things around the corner, then we should also read it as big investment of time and resources to create a worldwide product that is lucrative and long term.
Investment in the future requires lots of cash and there is no mention anywhere of the auction process or Quantum. These are the 2 income streams that might help finance what looks like exponential growth.
I'm not unduly concerned, but I would have thought that the financing of such growth was as much a major consideration in the business plan as finding the customers and getting the technology right.
perhaps I'm being overly pessimistic.

Bits I like and potential for lots of short term news I think :
"Both are on the cusp of full commercialisation and our major task now is the
fulfilment of the commercial potential that these technologies both offer"
"However the challenges that have been met and overcome set us in good stead to roll out this technology both in the UK and in the US. Over the long run we have the ability to make up any shortfall within our roll out program. We continue to work with and be supported by ASDA in establishing this technology. We have amended our strategy to assist the end user with a combination of temporary machinery and by having dedicated teams available to fine tune the R&D elements. Importantly the technology is now also being applied to the area of vertical-form-fill-seal packaging, for example with salad bags, which opens up our technology to another food packaging market which is less complex than tray lidders and thermoformers"
"We are working with some of the world's leading organisations with a
view to establishing micro manufacturing plants that will share the investment
in plant and facilities while ensuring that we can expand our production
capability to keep pace with customers' increasing supply needs for the Starpol
range of materials."
"The meat area at Wal Mart has been identified as the first area to trial Starpol 2000,3000 and Wrap products. Further discussions will take place during this week to clarify trial details."
"On 14 December 2005 we announced our agreement with Perseco, the international
leader in packaging and supply chain services to the food service and beverage
industries. We have a number of meetings in the US next week in order to move our exciting project in the fast food sector forward, in particular to endeavour to finalise details with regard to vertical integration into their supply chain by establishing Micro Manufacturing Facilities."
The last one about the Fast Food and Micro Manufacturing, should be the first revenue making deal I think !!

The transitionary point perhaps, on the cusp of something means, it nearer than near but not actually happened yet, but it will in a very short space of time :)

And now I have written it. I do think this is very exciting, and could lead to the first revenue income for Stanelco. Exciting meetings next week, and we could be on schedule as per the EVO report, for some deals by the summer :)

Not altogether earth shattering as some were claiming it would be but still very optimistic. I wonder what the interim report will have to say.
I think we really do need to see some sort of revenue upturn in the not to distant future as an indication of where seo is headed or investors will become impatient with this seemingly everlasting 'jam tomorrow' scenario. imho !

anybody want some?
maybe tomorrow then :))
all in all a very encouraging , promising, positive statement for seo. but then again , would you expect anything less? it's worthwhile taking a look at past agm and egm statements just to see that seo have been on the "cusp of full commercialisation" before. i'm not knocking today's statement, but, at some point all these words have to be converted into deals, not trials, but actual "here is a deal worth 's". once that happens , can seo be trusted to deliver?

having waited this long .................. a bit longer should'nt be tooooo hard.
I was dissapointed that there was no jamtommorow mention re gel tablets or fag-buts, so a 'fullhouse' of promises could have been delivered.
oh well, no doubt they'll be another PROMISING RNS shortly to cover that oversight.

Interesting Snippet.
City Explores Ban on Food Packaging
By Olin Ericksen
Staff Writer
April 28 -- After nearly a year of talk and study, Santa Monica officials may soon act on a proposal to ban on non-recyclable food packaging Citywide.
The ban -- which is opposed by such groups as the Polystyrene Packaging Council, the Food Service and Packaging Institute, the American Chemistry Council and the California Restaurant Association -- would make Santa Monica next on a growing list of counties and cities, including Malibu, that have enacted similar bans.
My comment....
If you search hard enough, you can find many such items daily, where the threat of plastic based packaging is being looked at. The tide against waste, pollution is turning rapidly. Get in there SEO.

Getting more bullish by the hour. First, no more Greenseal problems, proven by demonstration by ASDA to Walmart. Second, trials being set up, clearly with Tyson; OK more trials but with potential many times that of ASDA and without the diversity of conversion. Third, next week should see a Perseco agreement for micro-manufacturing plant(s) with announcement shortly after. Then its goodbye 13p! On the cusp of financial transformation! Cheer up, friends.
