Dowgate Capital - Capitalising on the booming AIM market (DGT)

overgrowth - 09 Feb 2005 20:52

Dowgate Capital (DGT) are sitting in the middle of a goldmine!

This company through their sole trading arm City Financial Associates are looking to take full advantage of the "booming" AIM market this year. Dowgate provide NOMAD (NOMinated ADvisor) services to AIM companies and also have full Corporate Broker status which means that they can fund placements on behalf of the companies they represent.

On first sight, the fact that Dowgate exist in the often veiled financial services sector makes you think twice about investing in company such as this because it would be impossible to understand what they were doing - however, think again!

DGT bring new companies to the AIM (Alternative Investment Market). For each new company "floated" on AIM, they take arrangement fees when acting as NOMAD. After the company is launched then for a nice steady earner DGT get another healthy chunk of cash every year for looking after them (note that all AIM companies must have a nominated adviser - thereby securing a ready source of recurring income).

Because DGT also act as a Corporate broker they can get a very healthy percentage for arranging placement of shares with insititutions before a new company floats. In addition, because placements come outside the sphere of yearly NOMAD work, they can also gain healthy percentages of placements which companies may need to make throughout the year when they need a quick injection of cash to speed growth.

Current NOMADships: 28 companies represented (gives recurring income of approx 480,000 per year)

Current on-going Brokerage agreements: 19 companies (income depends on placements)

For flotations, depending on the size of a company, fees charged will be anything from 50,000 to 100,000+ For placements (the real earner), DGT get anything from 3% to around 12% of the TOTAL AMOUNT RAISED - For example a new company raising 3M though a placement will earn DGT anything from 90,000 to 360,000 ! These figures are indicative as actual deals all differ due to circumstances and DGT sometimes take payment in shares - they still have a tasty chunk of Setstone shares and when this Russian exploration company comes back to AIM, predictions are that the share price will rocket. Note that the amount that this little company can earn in fees is huge and every new deal that comes through we know will contribute another healthy chunk into the bottom line. The good news with every new floatation means that it's another chunk of recurring revenue which could go on for years, with DGT having to do very little. New clients gained in 2005 are:

Mediazest (NOMAD & broker) Elite Strategies (NOMAD) Process Handling (NOMAD) Poland Investment Fund (NOMAD) Nanotech Energy (NOMAD & broker) Archimedia Ventures (NOMAD & broker) Red Leopard Holdings (NOMAD) Alba Mineral Resources (NOMAD & broker) Intandem Films (NOMAD & broker) Motive Television (NOMAD) IncaGold (NOMAD) Sportswinbet (NOMAD & Broker) Infoscreen Networks (NOMAD & Broker) Mark Kingsley (NOMAD & Broker) Croatia Ventures (NOMAD & Broker) Pantheon Leisure (NOMAD) Firenze Ventures (Ofex Advisor) FlightStore Group (NOMAD & Broker) Euro Capital Projects (NOMAD) Pearl Street Holdings (NOMAD) Worldwide Natural Resources (Ofex Advisor) Dovedale Ventures (Ofex Advisor) Other 2005 work completed:Neptune-Calculus VCT offer for subs of up to 12 million Advisory work for TGM on London Bus disposal for 20.4M Advisory work for Creightons on property disposal Advisory work for Hampton Trust on company restructuring Advisory work for Interbulk Investments on acquisition of Inbulk Advisory work for Fundamental-e Investments on two disposals Advisory work for Designer Vision re: Design Rights against Centurion Electronics

Ted1, "Our institution..."? "Another poster's e-mail..."? Prey, tell us more, sir...?

snakey - 14 Oct 2005 13:51 - 1631 of 2787

Markus,
Restructuring Investments and Mr Rawlinson have both increased their stakes this week to 25 million shares apiece ( 8% of equity total )
things should start to move again over next few weeks methinks !!

Ted1 - 14 Oct 2005 13:58 - 1632 of 2787

Thanks snakey I said that without even typing it.

markusantonius - 14 Oct 2005 14:01 - 1633 of 2787

Snakey, Ted.

Hope you're both right. Agree that it is always an encouraging sign when the powers-that-be put their money where their mouth is! :o) :o)

"limited investment strategy" - you said it, df, lol!

pleased tp see the break back up through the 0.50p June support/resistance

ptholden - 14 Oct 2005 18:42 - 1636 of 2787

fred

oh so bitter, what a shame when you used to be such a supporter. You missed out on the last rise from 0.40p to 0.85p and you are going to miss out on the next one. So who's clever? Perhaps not you, may I suggest?

EWRobson - 15 Oct 2005 09:47 - 1637 of 2787

df Once dead, always dead! Trouble is, I came in after you went nout; perhpas the two were connected. Well, I had a few but came in properly at Xmas and sitting in pleasant positive country. Pleasant people to talk with but just the odd spectre from the past.

More buying voume yesterday bears out, probably, that RIL are continuing to build stake. Nice touch from TR; not rich yet so thus building up stake slowly. We should do the same, I reckon.

Curious as to why TR bought just 1M shares, a very small quantity in the grand scheme of friends. Perhaps relevant is the manner in which DGT's new investment 'partner' aggressively targets the management of underperforming companies. Were I in TR's shoes, I would possibly not be too happy with this development and may consider RIL a threat to his current position, bit extreme I know. As evidenced this week, RIL will probably continue to build their stake, are we likely to see TR do the same as a safegaurd to what he will consider his domain? Was that 1M top up a signal to RIL? Be nice to see the two of them battling it out. Interesting times ahead if they do, as the effect on the SP will be significant. Once the rampers realise what may be going on we might have another HHO on our hands, albeit on a smaller scale.

All speculation of course and as always DYOR etc etc

pt lost on these but as ive said did not hang around to see if this flyer was going to flyyyyyyyy
i decided to do what im pritty good at

buy low sell high

like bio fuels
hbos
sym just before the announcement of the court case decision
spw had for ages
cumbrian minning(who own a part of asia energy, ever heared of them)
and a few others

had a few falls as well but dont we all

but lets just say ive made what ive lost and then some

so as you say pt your the clever person in this thread and will be for a longtime i think

and as for bitterness i like to look at things like this everyone of us are on a learning curve some learn some dont

old adj fools and there money are easily parted comes to mind

i also would like this share to fly
because if it did it would make me feel like i was right when i bought it in first place and would also make me wonder what if everyone had kept there shares???????

all of this is just an opinion mind

fred

'Fraid I'm not the clever prson on this thread. Although I have made some profit with DGT. nowhere near as much as I could have made, so that doesn't make me particularly clever! Pleased you have made back your losses on DGT and you never know, we might see this fly. Personally I think we will and your decision to invest will eventually be justified. Time will tell.

EWRobson - 16 Oct 2005 15:06 - 1641 of 2787

pth: Think you have it wrong with df: not a current holder and just likes to haunt threads where he once had a life.

Interested in your comment about TR's relatively small investment. It may be that he just wanted to invest, is not yet a rich man, and invested what he could. He may also have picked up our viRILity test and understands that 1M shares is OK! I doubt whether he would be concerned about the acquisition by VIL, rather the reverse as they will be in a position to introduce business. I do see it as very positive.

Eric

ptholden - 16 Oct 2005 15:26 - 1642 of 2787

Eric

I do see this development as a positive for the SP, just not convinced that TR would view it in the same way. If RIL continue to stake build in an attempt to secure a 'voice' I can't imagine that TR would welcome any interference in his private domain. Clearly, I have no idea how TR feels, but it's fun to speculate on the fortunes of DGT.

pth: congratulations on teh golf victory over the Shark. I feel confident that I can assume you won as I can't see a baost anywhere. Mind i do not have access to my normal e-mail so there may be an odd few posts there. Only one game over in Thailand - like their approach of making sure that you have an attractive Thai female caddy. Good at giving you the putting line too. Fred,
If you`re one for buying low and selling high, take a look at PMD.
my socks, vest and underpants are on these. ( which means I don`t lose a lot if they fail, but can get a new suit if they succeed !! ).

snakey - 16 Oct 2005 16:57 - 1645 of 2787

Eric, trust all is good in Siam, you lucky bugger. If you get the chance, call into the Royal Bangcock Sports Club ( centre of B/cock ). I was a member there at one time and while the golf course ain`t up to much it`s nice exercise, but the race track and restaurant are magnificent. (or was !!)

deadfred - 16 Oct 2005 17:02 - 1646 of 2787

pt my decision is not to invest m8 never again
read my posts

just cant get the staff now a days

lol

ptholden - 16 Oct 2005 18:44 - 1647 of 2787

err, df, I realise you do not have a stake in DGT. I was referring to your original decision to purchase DGT shares and that in my IMO that decision will eventually be justified, (although far too late in your case)

(i also would like this share to fly
because if it did it would make me feel like i was right when i bought it in first place and would also make me wonder what if everyone had kept there shares???????)

I accept that my comment may have been misunderstood, but yes I have read your posts for what they are worth, have you?

Eric

Unlike our ultracompetitive 'shark' friend, I rarely see the need to boast of victory, even if it was too easy for words. Game is back on track, just in time to go back to work. Happens every year :-(
Pleased you are enjoying Thailand and the odd game of golf. Hope to see you at the Shark (badly organised - just like his golf) sponsored MAM tournament next year.

stockdog - 16 Oct 2005 21:36 - 1648 of 2787

Snakey - to each his own reward. If PMD fails we will see you without your underwear. On the other hand, should MOI succeed, we will Chrissie without hers. Spoilt for choice - I just can't decide which I want more!

Lots of sells today yet the sp is just about holding holding its own, at the moment. And PTH, when the day finally arrives that you've got your golf handicap down to single figures, THEN you can claim bragging rights, OK? You've now beaten The Shark twice in 14 attempts which hardly makes you Tiger Woods, dear boy! :o)
