rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.
for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ
for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

I'd have to agree with you there, the whole Independence thing in the media is completely overdone. The next day we'll all wake up and carry on as usual despite what politicians think..

France misses EU budget deficit target
Finance minister Michel Sapin says Paris will not aim to reach required level of 3% of GDP until 2017, blaming slow economic growth and low inflation
tells you a fair bit about the state of the eu economies - uk apart!

DOW
has now dipped below 17,000 though without great impetus
however, if it closes there, then it's quite likely to fall to ~16,900 ..... not a great additional tumble, but the US market has been pretty sluggish and directionless for a week or so

closed and reversed at 17156.4
dow has had a couple of weak attempts at breaking 17160, and given its failure, i think there's some money to be made tomorrow on the other tack
