Good day all,........ anybody?

Ups and downs on the footsie today. No US market to watch tomorrow so it's anybodies guess which way the UK will go.

Kettles on for tea.

Socco

jeffmack - 03 Jul 2003 17:12 - 1635 of 23498

Hi Socs
Last day at work for me until 14th, so a happy bunny. Did you see the Dow spiked down 300+ points today. Another fat finger trader in the US

Socrates - 03 Jul 2003 18:40 - 1636 of 23498

Hi Jeff. No, I missed that but I don't really watch the DOW, only later to see what it closes at.

That's a nice break you are set for, are you going away or are you going to sit in front of a monitor for a change?

jeffmack - 03 Jul 2003 19:26 - 1637 of 23498

Socs
Off to Devon on Sunday for a couple of days and some dreaded DIY

Socrates - 03 Jul 2003 19:39 - 1638 of 23498

Jeff I envy you. Devon is a lovely county. Might retire there if I can rake up the readies. Will you be posting or shall I just keep the coffee hot?

jeffmack - 03 Jul 2003 20:21 - 1639 of 23498

Socrates - 03 Jul 2003 21:59 - 1641 of 23498

Jeff
The new monitor is absolutely brilliant. If I'm honest, 17" is a little too large but I can live with it.

Hightone, come on, you know where the bottles are. I gave up trying to hide them from you long ago. I've run out of new malt and only got the twenty year old stuff left, is that OK?

hilary - 03 Jul 2003 22:25 - 1642 of 23498

Hello Hightone,

A few weeks ago (just after they'd nailed Davidson to the cross by his dangly bits) I bought a few CRX shares at prices between 2p and 2.25p and then started to extol their virtues over the following few days on the traders fred. I started selling them at 13.25p and finished at 11.5p. That's why it raised a smile.

:-)))))

Socrates - 03 Jul 2003 22:52 - 1643 of 23498

Hilary
It sure would have made me smile too!

This_is_me - 03 Jul 2003 23:34 - 1644 of 23498

Hilary

Does that mean that you can use your small change to make a counter offer for CAV?!!

jeffmack - 05 Jul 2003 19:26 - 1645 of 23498

Evening, been a fine day today. Off to Devon tomorrow. Going to take in a large Antique fair on the way in Exeter then on to Salcombe for a couple of days

This_is_me - 05 Jul 2003 22:14 - 1646 of 23498

Hope you get a good offer for the wife's mother at the fair!

Socrates - 05 Jul 2003 22:14 - 1647 of 23498

Jeffmack
Don't go buying aany large antiques.

hilary - 06 Jul 2003 10:09 - 1648 of 23498

Enjoy your short break, Jeff.

Around 20 years ago, I used to live just outside of Exeter in a sleepy little village called Morchard Bishop. My house was famous for the fact that it formed part of the longest thatch in England. Devon is a lovely part of the country and I really should go down there and visit some friends. It's considerably easier for us to hop across to France though, so it's unfortunately one of those things which gets pushed back from one year to the next.

hightone - 06 Jul 2003 10:51 - 1649 of 23498

Cheers old socks that 20+ year old stuff will have to (-:

This_is_me - 06 Jul 2003 20:57 - 1650 of 23498

Glad to hear that GD didn't fall under a bus.

Socrates - 06 Jul 2003 23:13 - 1651 of 23498

Hang on, who said he hadn't?

Socrates - 07 Jul 2003 17:55 - 1652 of 23498

Another very quiet day in the bistro. I'll just have a small brew and put my feet up. If anyone comes in for a chat just give me a nudge and wake me up.

jgp212 - 07 Jul 2003 21:14 - 1653 of 23498

Good Evening Everybody!

Missed you lot very much indeed and the reason why is that I’ve been
Bloody knackered and worn out and decided to spend three weeks in
South Africa (J’Borg and Pretoria) which made matters worse!

J’Borg and Pretoria is a shambles and everybody lives in fear and the
Security firms are making stacks of dosh!

I visited my house in J’Borg and what a prison!!

My father in law suffered a gunshot wound in his shoulder and thank god
He is OK!

My Auntie was robbed and is very upset indeed and traumatised!

Anyway the good news is:

! My daughter prepares for prep school in Sep and had a “Taster Day” and she
Loved it

2. Traded CS and made a few bob!

3. My wife passed her GP exams first time and became a consultant in Obstetrics
and Gynaecology!

4. Back to day trading and making little profits and being very cautious

Best of luck to all and where is the Bolly?

Jeff
