MEDICAL MARKETING, A Speculative Punt That Might Reap Rich Rewards (MMG)

goldfinger - 01 Sep 2004 15:33

This ones a heck of a specualive investment but it seems that the institutions are willing to stomp up the cash to back it in the long term.

Heres the latest news from Killik stocbrokers on the company..........

MEDICAL MARKETING Joint Venture

We recently highlighted Medical Marketing (MMG) as worthy of attention. The company, in which I have a personal share holding, has this morning announced the formation of a joint venture, Genvax, to develop a novel DNA vaccine platform technology.

Human trials have been underway since 2001 in areas such as Lymphoma and Myeloma but the technology has broad applications in cancer, viral and bacterial infections (hence the term platform). The technology works on boosting the immune system by teaching it to identify hard to recognise cancer proteins as foreign and destroy them. Early results from the 25 patient trial in lymphoma are encouraging and evaluation of the result is expected by March 2005. Successful results should mean big pharmaceutical groups will start to take financial and commercial interests around that time.

This looks to be the first of a series of announcements due from Medical Marketing as it has a range of predominantly cancer trials moving into the clinical stage. (news flow could push the price higher)

The stock has made good progress in recent sessions up to the mid-80p level where the company is valued at just under 40 million. ENDS.

Please DYOR

cheers GF.

I've been watching this one ever since the broker scandal and was planning to place and order at about 1.70 to buy, but ended up cancelling it due to other commitments.

Im sitting in the wings, as im sure many people are to dive in big style to these. Every time this goes down I feel the pain cause it so easily could have been me in this situation (as I have been in so many occassions) as soon as the news comes sleepless nights will be a thing of the past and hopefully a number of shorters will suffer the same anguish as being long recently.

Good Luck, hope to Join the club soon

Article in yesterdays Times about a successful treatment for cancer being trialled in Edinburgh called the T treatment--hoping to come out of trials soon. very moving story about a little girl close to death with two brain tumours until her mother begged for her to be given this trial treatment. the recovery was little short of miraculous. I seem to remember MMG announcing they had successful trials going on using Tetanus virus to target the tumour
do you think this is going to hit the headlines soon--if it is a cure from scientists working for MMG ??? anyone know anything about this...Mitzy over to you!

DB was in Scotland last week giving a seminar.

charlielincs - 22 May 2005 22:11 - 1637 of 2444

dont expect this share to rise now, further to fall

mitzy - 23 May 2005 09:06 - 1638 of 2444

I think you are wrong charlie as the next piece of news could reverse the current trend.

swseun - 23 May 2005 19:51 - 1639 of 2444

when would the next news come? I agree mitzy and am really expecting it come soon, but I think charlielincs meant if there is no news turned out then it will....

Chiva20 - 23 May 2005 20:40 - 1640 of 2444

Charlie is our champion invester at the moment, getting the accolade through being a very succesful bear, mostly on MMG. Possibly a biased view given his recent success. I'd really like this share to climb, but I can't help thinking he has a point but only without news. Mitzy I'm waiting for that news, when it comes I'll load up and I've no doubt this will rocket.

goldfinger - 24 May 2005 00:26 - 1641 of 2444

Well personally Chiva I give his post no credit at all. He should say why he thinks the way he does.

cheers GF.

doughboy66 - 24 May 2005 11:30 - 1642 of 2444

The upside to this share from its current price has got to totally out weigh any downside, hasn`t it?

goldfinger - 24 May 2005 11:34 - 1643 of 2444

It all depends on how the news goes DB, lets not forget it could be negative rather than positive but Im hoping it will be extremely positive. Fingers crossed.

cheers GF.

doughboy66 - 24 May 2005 11:40 - 1644 of 2444

True GF. There does seem to be a lot more buys than sells for a change lets hope it continues.

I'm not no 1 on the champion investor now, because somebody just overtook me, my conservative trading for recent weeks paid the price. I have changed my portfolio dramatically, buy I remain short on MMG, I know some other bigger individuals added to their shorts as well.

goldfinger - 24 May 2005 16:39 - 1646 of 2444

Charlie, do be honest I couldnt give a jot where you are in any competition. This is the real world and not fantasy. In the real world emotion and risk is attached to real trades.

If you have a bearish view on MMG then please share it with us rather than hiding behind a competition and other traders, eg, why are you short?.

cheers GF.

mickeyskint - 24 May 2005 17:30 - 1647 of 2444

GF

I think the speculators ie CFD/Spread betters have it for the time being. They will play with the sp kicking it up and down making a few quid along the way. The same with SEO. But they better be ready when news does come as I can see a few of them will get seriously fcuked. Being a high beta stock it will rise quickly and if any are not paying attention....a sore bum could well on the cards.

goldfinger - 24 May 2005 17:36 - 1648 of 2444

Spot on Mickey especially with the stock being high beta like you say. I wouldnt mind but Charlie comes onto the thread and does not give any reasons for his actions. I can take the other side of the coin if people can present a valid reason for their case.

cheers GF. Looks like we have Evil and Lucian Myers in a double act from the sell trades today reported this afternoon. They are going to have to be so very carefull.

seawallwalker - 24 May 2005 20:11 - 1649 of 2444

This looks to be on a slow and steady climb now, so any news on top will be very good.

If I were to have bought, it would have been at the end of today.

All imo etc. and fwiw.

goldfinger - 24 May 2005 23:04 - 1650 of 2444

Cheers Seawallwalker, would that be based on TA?.

cheers GF.

seawallwalker - 25 May 2005 07:18 - 1651 of 2444

It would be based on what I know and see in respect of the chart and the Company.

Neither amount to a great deal, however my thoughts are backed up by:-

"The last two candlesticks formed a Bullish Engulfing Pattern . This is a bullish reversal pattern that marks a potential change in trend. However, its reliability is not very high and it requires confirmation"

So for British Bulls, they want a result today too.

Of note also that it bounced off the 200 day ma.

mickeyskint - 25 May 2005 08:31 - 1652 of 2444

Well spotted SWW. These new graphs are excellent.

MS

goldfinger - 25 May 2005 10:20 - 1653 of 2444

Yes well done for that Seawallwalker, we could do with a bit of optimism.

cheers GF.
