THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

" I was taking the proverbial "mickey" once again."

No you wasn't , you are a liar and a pompous self opinionated tosser

Why didn't you vote Labour or any-other party if you thought the Tory's would be such a disaster ? didn't you think that Labour under Gordon Brown would be better then a Tory party winning. Why did you waste your vote , and why do you waste your time posting such rubbish ....... to sum up your a total waste of space on here .

charles taylor to go to prison in uk . but it will be a private mansion I expect
costing the uk millions . hang him or send him back to is only people for judgement

ahoj - 26 Apr 2012 13:44 - 16390 of 81564

They should ask anyone in prison to pay for its living cost. They can work at half the minimum wage to pay the cost and learn the lesson. If they are rich, they can pay, even for TV license, etc.

People in prison have better life than many honest people who work full time in this country. I call this "the Criminal Right", a misused form of the human right.

TANKER---I have long thought that private pensions were a waste of money and that a cash ISA is a far better option, but discipline is essential. Whilst the last few years may not have been great because interest rates have been low, this will not always be the case. A huge benefit of an ISA over a pension is you don't pay tax on the income, I know there is no inducement to buy an ISA as there is with a pension, but another big plus for an ISA is, the sum accrued is still there for your dependants, not taken by the pension provider.

2517. yes but remember the tax you save when you invest is taken away when you draw the pension and when you passaway so does the pension .
but if you do as I did i have control not some slick areswipe fund manager
milking your pot .I am not very educated but unstood the crap of putting my hard earned cash in a worthless pension and one othere side of the plan is . if any of my family dropped on hard times I would give them all the cash .and then claim benefits .
as for the tax of giving money away .they won it at the races . and I lost at the races

My main private pension scheme can admit my kids (two) as members.

Both parents are in it and we have been told it might be prudent to admit one kid when one parent dies and then the other when the last parent dies. Luck of the draw for the kids, I suppose.

This means that the fund can continue to provide pensions, not only for us, whilst we are alive, but in years to come for whoever happens to be a member at that time and is allowed to participate in the value of the fund. But prudency would have to prevail here on what actually is done.

Oh, and

1. We got tax relief on our contributions for filling it up.

2. We got quite large tax free lump sums when we actually retired, approx 20 yrs ago.

3. An Areswiping Fund Manager takes about £2k out of it each year (and probably rising!) but, 'Hey! What the hell!'

4. Tanker is talking a load of bolox, IMHO. I think what he actually means is that some investments can be bad ones, including sometimes, the investments made even in pension funds. Most funds do make annual charges - and why not? Someone somewhere has to manage the fund and if it isn't you, then they have to be paid for doing it. I think he might mean to say, that some fund managers' charges are far too high.

Skinny,

I bit my finger.

It hurt.

--------

On PP.

One useful purpose is for dealing in AIM stock and various non main market items,

Also, if self manage the proceeds can be past on to partners and children. Albeit for the latter tax has to be paid. Fair enough.

-------------------

Leveson enquiry will be interesting when Jeremy and other members of the hunting fraternity are examined.

Perhaps, some of the scent may lead to No. 10 den.

-------

But, I do like the nice quiet forensic questioning. Wouldn't like to be defending myself in a court against them.

Softly Softly Catchee Monkey!

Shortie - 26 Apr 2012 16:30 - 16404 of 81564

'I think you will find that doing that which you have suggested and claiming benefit thereafter would render you liable to prosecution by the DWP'

Love it! Come on honesty only really means lining someone elses pockets, in this case the tax man. Have to say I'm with Tanker on this one, you have to look after your own before anyone else.

I would think if you lost all your money to a relative at the races this would be perfectly just to the tax man provided you both had race tickets. Innocent until proven otherwise I think.... Could easily be poker mind.

Fred1new - 26 Apr 2012 18:52 - 16405 of 81564

Shortie,

"Have to say I'm with Tanker on this one, you have to look after your own before anyone else"

That is what the MPs said with their false expense claims and many of the present cabinet say and do.

Using tax dodges as suggest is the signs of low level corruption and justifies others to think criminal or illegal actions are justified.

Had to laugh, just heard Cameron saying that this was going to be the greenest government ever.

It looks as if he is right about something at last.
