Bioprogress (BPRG)

scorpion - 13 Aug 2003 13:54

Bioprogress is a stock I have been in and out of quite a few times since it floated in May but not much mention here on the Investors' Room. Does anyone else follow this stock. I see it is up 1.5p today and a few good buyers seem to have appeared.

Bones - 25 Feb 2004 18:28 - 164 of 2372

RobinReeve - for AIM stocks, the reporting of trades of a certain size can be delayed by one hour (sometimes 2 hours). It is a problem on MoneyAM that the time stamps don't show the actual time and I have complained about it (but to date no improvement). The times can be shown as other sites demonstrate.

RobinReeve - 25 Feb 2004 18:43 - 165 of 2372

Thanks Bones, though the time stamps were the same on another website - www.Londonstockexchange.com
What can we expect from the Results on 8th March?
Surely they will be quiet as the main products are only just being marketed?

Dil - 25 Feb 2004 19:41 - 166 of 2372

Almost hit your 120p price target Andy , don't expect you thought you would be that lucky so quickly !

Would expect them to bounce back to 140p level from about here before another wave of profit taking sets in.

Dil - 25 Feb 2004 19:48 - 167 of 2372

GF - just been reading the fbb thread over on ADVFN , can't believe the amount of abuse that IC guy is getting from some of the most blatant rampers I have ever come across such as that oliverleftwingtit prat , good to see there is none of that over here.

Bones - 25 Feb 2004 19:50 - 168 of 2372

Dil - it is not worth guessing short term prices given the imminence of completion of the OTC deal (who knows what figures will come with that) and the results on 8th March which should contain other updates on collaborations.

BTW - I guess you mention OLWT and GF in the same sentence for a good reason :)

RR - the historical results to 31/12/03 won't contain much revenue. It is all about future revenues and deals.

Dil - 25 Feb 2004 20:12 - 169 of 2372

Bones doesn't TA suggest that its "all in the price" so any deal everyone is expecting has already been well and truly discounted.

Lost me on the OLWT and GF thing :-)

Bones - 25 Feb 2004 20:20 - 170 of 2372

Dil - so the theory goes. The FMC deal contained figures which changed the picture. So yes, at the moment it is all in the price until the deal reveals something that wasn't in the price. Trouble is we know "almost certainly" a deal is coming (should be in the price). But we knew FMC was coming but its contents weren't in the price. With me so far?

If OTC contains good figures, it is fair to predict that a short won't be a good position to hold....!

For me, I believe the longer term growth picture (you know, like Nord Anglia). TA says there is a steep uptrend in place anyway!

Dil - 25 Feb 2004 20:52 - 171 of 2372

OK here's my logic fwiw.

Firstly I have no position and never have had one in bprg so I have no vested interest in whether it goes up or down.
Looking at the price action a lot of people have made a lot of money in these over the last few months. A quick look at the moneyam stockpicker of 2004 thread shows that a large number (relativley speaking) were put onto these as a good thing a while back. Problem no. 1 , leaky companies rarely make good long term investments and looking at the number who tipped it makes it looks a very very leaky company.
Recognising a few of the 2004 tipsters (Bullshare springs to mind) then when I was asked to look at these Sunday my first conclusion was that the savvy investors who had been in a few months and doubled their money were not the type to let the paper profit dribble away , anything more than a gentle pullback and it would be goodnight gracie from them.
A quick scan of advfn fbb then confirmed that everyone and his dog knew everything about this company and the amount of total b*llox being talked on there I have only ever seen rivalled on the MMD threads and the old JUS threads and look what happened to that pair.
Short term my best guess is a bounce then first sign of slowing and next wave of selling will take it down to a pound , too many speculators and day traders in these so wild swings are inevitable.
Long term , they produce the goods and profits it will get a fair market rating.
I don't even know what they do or make really , no one seems to talk much about that on these threads.

Good luck Bones , I've probably got it all wrong as usual :-)

Once the X-Gel packaging machines start working on production without serious difficulties, It will already look like Stock of the Year - and three or four contracts down the line - Stock-of-the- Decade - if not by then contender for Stock-Of-All-Time

Dil - 25 Feb 2004 21:19 - 173 of 2372

They said that about the nmt retractable needle machines.

Bones - 25 Feb 2004 21:38 - 174 of 2372

Let's get one thing straight, dil, this was an orderly stock before 4th February! Traders were on the stock but the price had gradually increased over several months with no stupid behaviour. Then whoosh, FMC deal and on come the nutters. I took profits on the way up at 114, 139, 157, halving my position. I bought back the bit I sold at 157, today, at 139 (a bit early as it turned out). It means I hold the same as I bought last August. I have added and traded bits and bobs over the duration so my average cost of what I now hold is 22p approx. So, I am sitting comfortably with the core holding.

I have this as a long term hold because to get to where they want to go will take years but I don't currently regard their prospects as unrealistic. They have been around years and nearly went bust financing the R&D but pulled out of the spin dive with the AIM float.

In my time horizon I see only an uptrend. This weeks pull back is nothing quite frankly. There were plenty of 20% pull backs last year. If you are going to rely on TA, don't be selective about it. Day-traders rightly see a down trend - this week. Day-traders don't affect prices for long periods by definition. Longer term, the uptrend is well intact.

The daft thing is, all the knockers of the company were nowhere to be seen until the spike. That tells me they are knocking the company to gain support for short positions, not because they don't rate the product. Most don't know what it is anyway. A lot of these guys are probably also punters who paid 150+ and have been caught out. Losses twist the minds of so many! They surely hate the stock that gave them a big T10 loss.

Whatever, Dil, time will tell us, eh!

RobinReeve - 25 Feb 2004 21:46 - 175 of 2372

Im enjoying reading the threads on ths site. Can anyone recommend any other good websites to look at for similar decent analysis and chat??

Dil - 25 Feb 2004 22:18 - 176 of 2372

Just my opinion Bones , a lot of it to do with all the hot money in it.

Do you know how many warrants / options there are and what if any there dilutive effect would be ? Someone mentioned this point to me today but can't seem to get an answer.

Dil - 25 Feb 2004 22:19 - 177 of 2372

Maybe goldfinger knows.

Seymour Clearly - 25 Feb 2004 22:52 - 178 of 2372

Robin Reeve, this is the only one without (too many) nutters. I can't keep up with advfn. Every time I look at the BPRG thread there are another 1000 posts! Considering buying a few more tomorrow.

bishopjeremy - 25 Feb 2004 22:59 - 179 of 2372

I think Bones has hit the nail on the head. I've been holding stock for quite a while and whilst my average is more than 22p, I'm more than happy to hold the stock on a longer term view. I bought some more stock this morning - in retrospect I should have waited and bought it cheaper later in the day. But over a longer time frame I am sure, given the potential for future royalties from the process, Bioprogress is on to an absolute winner. That surely outweighs short term trading postions. OK it may drop to lower levels, but if you don't need to sell - keep the shares and wait for the results of the technology to follow. Don't make the mistake of thinking that a downward spike in the price over a few days is the end of the world. It isn't.

aqafresh - 26 Feb 2004 00:11 - 180 of 2372

I know Becks has put a link to this but for the lazy here it is

In the absence of the rumoured licensing deal, Bioprogress lost 24 1/2p to 124p on hefty turnover of 8.9m. Market-makers shook the tree in the hope that some nervous punters would fall out. Many did and could soon be kicking themselves.
