Dowgate Capital - Capitalising on the booming AIM market (DGT)

overgrowth - 09 Feb 2005 20:52

Dowgate Capital (DGT) are sitting in the middle of a goldmine!

This company through their sole trading arm City Financial Associates are looking to take full advantage of the "booming" AIM market this year. Dowgate provide NOMAD (NOMinated ADvisor) services to AIM companies and also have full Corporate Broker status which means that they can fund placements on behalf of the companies they represent.

On first sight, the fact that Dowgate exist in the often veiled financial services sector makes you think twice about investing in company such as this because it would be impossible to understand what they were doing - however, think again!

DGT bring new companies to the AIM (Alternative Investment Market). For each new company "floated" on AIM, they take arrangement fees when acting as NOMAD. After the company is launched then for a nice steady earner DGT get another healthy chunk of cash every year for looking after them (note that all AIM companies must have a nominated adviser - thereby securing a ready source of recurring income).

Because DGT also act as a Corporate broker they can get a very healthy percentage for arranging placement of shares with insititutions before a new company floats. In addition, because placements come outside the sphere of yearly NOMAD work, they can also gain healthy percentages of placements which companies may need to make throughout the year when they need a quick injection of cash to speed growth.

Current NOMADships: 28 companies represented (gives recurring income of approx 480,000 per year)

Current on-going Brokerage agreements: 19 companies (income depends on placements)

For flotations, depending on the size of a company, fees charged will be anything from 50,000 to 100,000+ For placements (the real earner), DGT get anything from 3% to around 12% of the TOTAL AMOUNT RAISED - For example a new company raising 3M though a placement will earn DGT anything from 90,000 to 360,000 ! These figures are indicative as actual deals all differ due to circumstances and DGT sometimes take payment in shares - they still have a tasty chunk of Setstone shares and when this Russian exploration company comes back to AIM, predictions are that the share price will rocket. Note that the amount that this little company can earn in fees is huge and every new deal that comes through we know will contribute another healthy chunk into the bottom line. The good news with every new floatation means that it's another chunk of recurring revenue which could go on for years, with DGT having to do very little. New clients gained in 2005 are:

Mediazest (NOMAD & broker) Elite Strategies (NOMAD) Process Handling (NOMAD) Poland Investment Fund (NOMAD) Nanotech Energy (NOMAD & broker) Archimedia Ventures (NOMAD & broker) Red Leopard Holdings (NOMAD) Alba Mineral Resources (NOMAD & broker) Intandem Films (NOMAD & broker) Motive Television (NOMAD) IncaGold (NOMAD) Sportswinbet (NOMAD & Broker) Infoscreen Networks (NOMAD & Broker) Mark Kingsley (NOMAD & Broker) Croatia Ventures (NOMAD & Broker) Pantheon Leisure (NOMAD) Firenze Ventures (Ofex Advisor) FlightStore Group (NOMAD & Broker) Euro Capital Projects (NOMAD) Pearl Street Holdings (NOMAD) Worldwide Natural Resources (Ofex Advisor) Dovedale Ventures (Ofex Advisor) Other 2005 work completed:Neptune-Calculus VCT offer for subs of up to 12 million Advisory work for TGM on London Bus disposal for 20.4M Advisory work for Creightons on property disposal Advisory work for Hampton Trust on company restructuring Advisory work for Interbulk Investments on acquisition of Inbulk Advisory work for Fundamental-e Investments on two disposals Advisory work for Designer Vision re: Design Rights against Centurion Electronics

Eric, trust all is good in Siam, you lucky bugger. If you get the chance, call into the Royal Bangcock Sports Club ( centre of B/cock ). I was a member there at one time and while the golf course ain`t up to much it`s nice exercise, but the race track and restaurant are magnificent. (or was !!)

pt my decision is not to invest m8 never again
read my posts

just cant get the staff now a days

lol

ptholden - 16 Oct 2005 18:44 - 1647 of 2787

err, df, I realise you do not have a stake in DGT. I was referring to your original decision to purchase DGT shares and that in my IMO that decision will eventually be justified, (although far too late in your case)

(i also would like this share to fly
because if it did it would make me feel like i was right when i bought it in first place and would also make me wonder what if everyone had kept there shares???????)

I accept that my comment may have been misunderstood, but yes I have read your posts for what they are worth, have you?

Eric

Unlike our ultracompetitive 'shark' friend, I rarely see the need to boast of victory, even if it was too easy for words. Game is back on track, just in time to go back to work. Happens every year :-(
Pleased you are enjoying Thailand and the odd game of golf. Hope to see you at the Shark (badly organised - just like his golf) sponsored MAM tournament next year.

Snakey - to each his own reward. If PMD fails we will see you without your underwear. On the other hand, should MOI succeed, we will Chrissie without hers. Spoilt for choice - I just can't decide which I want more!

Lots of sells today yet the sp is just about holding holding its own, at the moment. And PTH, when the day finally arrives that you've got your golf handicap down to single figures, THEN you can claim bragging rights, OK? You've now beaten The Shark twice in 14 attempts which hardly makes you Tiger Woods, dear boy! :o)

EWRobson - 18 Oct 2005 06:06 - 1650 of 2787

Well done, peter; twice out of 14 is not so bad although I have managed it once out of one; decided to retire as a winner! taking up sharking! Mind have had to dip below the virile figure to pay for hols!

Eric

Unfortunately Mark has a very short memory and is also unable to add up!

However, on the subject of DGT, I wouldn't be surprised to see a RNS fairly soon, disclosing a further increase in holding by either RIL or TR, or perhaps even both. I don't think for one moment that that 1.5M protected trade was a sell.

I think the chart is starting to look very interesting again in a modest way - up throught he 20 and 40dma on reasonable volume and the 20dma just about to start to turn up again and nowhere near any overbought indicators. I'm looking for a nice little rally up to the 60's for now.

Mmmm... 4m+ buys < 2:30 hours. I like this... The sp is edging up (0.01 and 0.02p) at a time which (if pre-planned by the MM's in lieu of expected GOOD news at SOME stage in the future?) is a lot more sustainable c.t. a one day jump on super-hype only to fall back again on anticlimax. My gut feeling here is very positive with this growing little co. of ours.

(Re: Golf. Sorry, Pete. I was incl. the 3-man team event (R1 at LGC) and our 4-man Homeward-7 Holes with your bandit mates (a iver a head!). So I stand correctected. Shark: 9W, 1D, 2L(PTH). Howazatt?)

ptholden - 18 Oct 2005 14:36 - 1654 of 2787

Markie boy (emphasis on the boy!) Have beaten you at LC, Craythorne and Breadsley, I think that makes 3 wins to me?

Anyway, back on thread. I think the MMs will hold this back until the possible buy order is filled, so no expectations on SP movement until then.

markusantonius - 18 Oct 2005 17:45 - 1655 of 2787

PTH, I took 50p off you nett (overall side-bet) at The Craythorne, if you recall?

Anyway back to DOWGATE - Yes, plenty of buys in the end today. Plenty of interest in this stock atm. Bodes well for the future esp with AIM becoming so popular amongst emerging SME's.

Also FTR: - Must add that both ERIC AND PTH tipped DGT to me many moons ago - circa 0.40p (+/_ 0.05p) and made me a few quid en route before deciding to buy back in. Based on the stats., the Co. is fundamentally stronger NOW than it was back then + superior management team at the helm. So any waveres here - now is your time to get in, I'm sure...

butane - 18 Oct 2005 19:31 - 1656 of 2787

FWIW,
I spoke directly to TR today (in fact, he returned my call)........he assured me that they were VERY busy and that new deals currently being worked on were expected to be completed during November...as with the email that nevgroom received from TR, there were comments made that i will not post but overall, as a result of the conversation i am even more confident with my (large) holding and will look to further top up when ISYS comes good allowing me to free-up funds.

snakey - 18 Oct 2005 22:24 - 1657 of 2787

a little bit tangential, but what is a `K` trade please, anybody??
I have no comment to make on DGT as, from past posts, this is THE winner of the next few years and I am just sittin` tight on mine.

markusantonius - 19 Oct 2005 00:41 - 1658 of 2787

Butane, Can you divulge whether TR disclosed if "very busy" centred around MOMAD-ship, the BROKERAGE arm or other/new stuff perhaps? Obviously curious!

stockdog - 19 Oct 2005 05:19 - 1659 of 2787

snakey -
A K trade is a Block Trade, a transaction using the block trade facility.
The good news is Digital Look has a complete glossary - just list trades and click on "(key)" next to the heading "Type". The bad news is that none of the descriptions leaves me any the wiser. Ah, but then I'm an old dog!

Buys:Sells ratio = 1:20 this morning yet the sp is still being marked up by the MM's which tells us that something (positive!) must be about to happen very soon, surely? :o)

Ted1 - 19 Oct 2005 11:44 - 1661 of 2787

Yep I think they are trying to flush out sellers.
Very few around today, almost a stale mate.
Come on mm's put the price up lets have some fun.

EWRobson - 19 Oct 2005 15:54 - 1662 of 2787

Suspect that a large trade (block?) is being filled in the background. This explains the sp being held up to encourage sells. Pth - I thin it works this way whereas you suggest that the mms will hold price down whilst a large purchase is being filled. Can't see acloud in teh sky myself - but then I am sunning msyself in Phuket where the world looks beautiful, particularly the women - and the orchids, of course, but particularly the women; not surprising the number of old English lags you see with Thai partners!

Eric

ptholden - 19 Oct 2005 17:01 - 1663 of 2787

Eric

Whoever is buliding a stake and I suggest there is a choice of two (RIL / TR) will have placed an order for x amount of shares at the price they are willing to pay. The MMs will do their utmost to fulfill that order at maximum profit to themselves, therefore holding the price back to achieve the aim. At the moment I would take no notice whatsover as to what trades are being recorded as buys or sell, the MM will be filling this order at a discount to the offer and therefore the buys/sells ratio is irrelevant.

All conjecture of course, but I would still expect to see a RNS soon.

pth

EWRobson - 19 Oct 2005 17:39 - 1664 of 2787

Yeah, pth, sounds right. They do also have to get people to sell and that will mean that they have to raise the bid. Don't think TR had the dosh otherwise he wouldn't just buy 1m shares. You called RIL as likely to build a much bigger stake and that seems very likely; this is quite small beer for them and the good thing is that they must see the potential for DGT to become a major player. RIL might push it higher but I don't expect a major move until we see 2006 trading is continuing the trend or the company makes significant expansion moves. I think they are very busy building a base and consolidating at the moment. I aggree that we should see an RNS re shareholdings soon.
