Beyond the Footsie: Monday close
9 August 2004, This Is Money

Petrel Resources ended 8 1/2p higher at 50 1/2p, after it confirmed it is in talks with the Oil Ministry in Iraq over tenders to develop existing oilfields. At this point no contract has been awarded to the firm, but it remains very positive.

According to The Sunday Telegraph, industry executives believe that a decision has already been taken by the Iraqi energy minister to hand contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars to the small Irish-based company and its partners.

morning all,
whatever happens with these contracts, the steady stream of press they are getting is doing no harm to us that bought in jan/feb of this year or before. with three companies short-listed for three contracts and petrel do seem to be getting more involved with the technical side, the odds are very good of getting at least one contract.failing that you could sell now and make a very healthy profit.
just my early morning thougthts,

dexter

I was wondering, does this mean a Petrel employee is selling his shares via option?? All new to this, but it seems a strange time to sell just prior to a potential contract award?

All other news of listings has seen a decrease in the stock price(as lets face it, it actually dilutes the price of the stock we already hold), but we actually have a jump this morning , hopefully a sign that good things are to come with this share.

Fingers crossed everyone

Hi all you PETS
they obviously need the 50 grand to finance something...could well be connected to contract wins and the start of fundraising...go go go

Tokyo - 12 Aug 2004 13:40 - 182 of 2700

piston broke - I hope it's champagne all the way for you soon!!

Tokyo - 12 Aug 2004 13:43 - 183 of 2700

connected back to Monday's announcement, Petrel are in stage 2 of their negotiations, does anyone know how many stages they are? Dextor01 or anyone else, Did you e-mail them on this?

Tokyo

dexter01 - 12 Aug 2004 13:46 - 184 of 2700

they did say that there would be small placings,so not to dilute price.if the placing are put up on 16th august, it may well mean something is about to happen or it could be for a beano to baghdad!!.
there do seem to be regular mentions from different quarters, and forgetting press hypeusually there`s no smoke without fire.
the 3 contracts would need total funding of 411m(can`t rememberwhether$or),iwonder if PET could finance that.i think 2 contracts, just my gut feeling.
