TMC...One of the miners that hasnt bounced yet (TMC)

siwel2 - 17 Feb 2006 10:17

Interesting little company. Did a series of asset swops to leave them with half of the 4th largest Nickel deposit in the world.
The deposit itself is in the Philippines has been known about for 30 years but due to low prices and lack of demand in the Far East it was never exploited. With the explosion in demand from India and China the nickel price has climbed from $2 to $6.50 but oddly enough is still considered low.
The final approval stage for exploitation is just about to be approved and extraction will begin. The company already has one contract with a Japanese smelter and is in discussions with smelters in a series of countries.
Nothing clever about the operation, as the ore is of sufficiently high grade, they dig it up and ship it out. Infrastrucure is already in place for operation.
TMC is currently priced at 18m, the initial Japanese contract is worth 4m and each additional contract will hopefully be at this level or greater.
Final approval turns the company into a producer and each additional contract simply increases their size.
The management is tight with cash and has some good quality mining skills onboard.
The Philippine government is fast tracking the final approval and the company says it expects it shortly.
One to hold for approval and through the series of RNS's as more contracts are won. Company should be worth 50m in 6 months and 100m in 12-18 months.
Buy it, ignore it, just pointing this one out.

wish I had laurie, but still pleased with it, if it should drop again I will be a bit quicker next time :)

Just needs to get past the 2 mental block and then 2.50 is fairly easy but 2 has proved a barrier so far.

expert - 21 Mar 2007 22:33 - 167 of 879

Up 1p by close, it looks like a classic tree shaking as the mm's are short of stock. They may have triggered some stop losses at the same time may have flushed out some hot money. Onwards and upwards we go!

oilyrag - 22 Mar 2007 08:15 - 168 of 879

Looks like the same scenario as yesterday, look out for top up opportunities.

oilyrag - 22 Mar 2007 10:13 - 169 of 879

MM,s mucking about with the spread again. Down 2.5p should only be down 1p because the spread has been opened by 3p. An observation that I have just made is that, all the late trades that are being reported are not affecting the price. Yesterday after the recovery in share price I was of the impression that it didn't matter what trades were made the SP was sticking at plus 1p.

oilyrag - 22 Mar 2007 10:20 - 170 of 879

Talking of price manipulation, I feel that the only time during the last year or so, when the SP on this epic wasn't being controlled, was during the last couple of weeks probably because institutional investment has gone as far as it can without them treading on each others toes.

laurie squash - 22 Mar 2007 10:23 - 171 of 879

Oilyrag
I noticed a strong hand from the mm's in 6 different shares yesterday all with strong tree shakes.
Do you think someone was doing a fund raiser for their holiday?
I still think it should be illegal to drop the sp for sales.

halifax - 22 Mar 2007 10:37 - 172 of 879

I agree all this suggests the MMs know some positive news is imminent

oilyrag - 22 Mar 2007 10:43 - 173 of 879

Which is tantamount to insider dealing, which I believe is illegal and they should therefore all be locked up, so that we can all take their, our money and go on holiday. ha ha.

oilyrag - 22 Mar 2007 10:54 - 174 of 879

What really confuses me is, that having a 9p spread as they have at the moment, is designed to stop people wanting to trade. Surely as the MM's work on a commission basis this dosn't make sence. Shouldn't they be encouraging more deals by closing the spread therefore making more money honestly. Its about time that we had a level playing field and ended some of these 40% spreads. Who do we see to try and get some thing done about this. Any ideas.

oilyrag - 22 Mar 2007 16:02 - 175 of 879

It would appear that the price has been fixed for today, irrespective of trading position. This confirms what I've been saying about spreads and price fixing.

As long as directors are not selling shares their current exercise of options at 1.50 should indicate their expectation of a further surge in the price of TMC. News of Xstratas bid for Lionore may focus more attention on the cheapness of TMC.

oilyrag - 26 Mar 2007 19:02 - 179 of 879

Someone give me 50 million, I'd buy the company. Todays fall is an absolute joke.

cynic - 26 Mar 2007 19:13 - 180 of 879

the grand old duke of york .... etc etc etc

oilyrag - 27 Mar 2007 08:45 - 181 of 879

Yesterday they sting us with an 11p drop when 62,000 purchased against 58,000 sold. Today 18,000 purchased and no movement so far, what gives.

oilyrag - 27 Mar 2007 08:47 - 182 of 879

Hooray 0.5p at last!

oilyrag - 27 Mar 2007 10:37 - 183 of 879

38,000 bought 18,000 sold at 10:30am and they move the price down. IF THATS NOT FIXED THEN I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS. CHEATS, CHEATS, SWINDLERS , PIRATES, LOCK THEM ALL UP AND THROW AWAY THE KEY. I Hope that the buyer on the end of this one gets all the availiable stock to stop this nonsence.
